In one upper corner of the table, cut a small hole in the table. The size should be 3/4 of the width of a glass vial cap. Using a Dremel, cut out and deburr the top of the vial cap, leaving the threads. Attach the vial cap to the hole in the Miller table from the bottom. Now you can screw a vial into the cap, when you run your miller table you don’t have to snuffer anything up and change your angle, just brush the gold into the vial. When you’re done unscrew the vial and put another cap on it.

I agree. That’s a good idea. Alternatively, there’s the pivoting trough option too. Can be added to the end of your table for easy sweeping. Checkout Royal Manufacturing’s miller tables (they have a trough/catch built into their tables). Love the upcycled Miller Table here @UtmostOutdoors! Nice clean up too! 🤙🏼

This is great I'm gonna make one,we got ultra fine flour gold here in Indiana, and when you get on a good spot you'll have lots of ultra fine black sand that is almost impossible to separate, ive been considering making one,and this sealed the deal thank you brother and nice pay streak your on there

So many many actionable valuable tricks of the trade that actually work waaay beyond the original purpose. I have taken so much from the channel and used it in a dry high desert dry washing scenario to my cleanups. Awesome stuff my guy! Keep up the hood work!

Great description of how a miller table works. Especially the concentrate. When magnified the blacks and blonds are hard and rounded and all gold is soft and flattened out. Surface contact area of the gold to the miller table is larger and specific gravity is heavier than the blacks and blonds. That causes more friction to surface for the gold the angle of repose is greater. There by gold stays and black and blonds move. Think of a round ball and sheet of plywood on a slope what moves first.

Using a 35 power +/- microscope... a geologist describes sand grain roundness as: angular (sharp edged) to well-rounded (smooth edged). Roundness indicates how well a sand grain resembles a sphere. Sub-angular, subrounded, and well rounded are the terms used to describe roundness. Grain size sorting is described by : Well-sorted, (simular size), moderately-sorted and poorly-sorted. When looking at/for precious metals under a microscope I use 360 power most of the time which gives a very good view of the composition of the sand grains. 400 power is about max and 20 power is about the minimum power to look at sand grains. The advent of inexpensive digital microscopes that go up to 1,200 power need to be tested. As the size of gold gets smaller the difficulties in seperating gold particles gets more difficult to the point where mechanical separation gives way to a chemical separation process. Panning above 30 mesh is relatively easy and below 30 mesh to 600 mesh is where things get much more difficult and require special consideration when seperating gold from wet sand. Also gold desolves in water then reattaches to the edges of black and other sand grains making mechanical separation impossible. A large commercial placer gold operation can expect to recover most of the operating costs from the gold values stuck in the black sand creating a substantial profit from the larger mechanically seperated pieces of gold. Thanks to your comment now we know the secret to seperating ultra-fine gold from sand particles using a miller table!

You can use magnets over a sluice to not only lift the iron containing stuff but to push down the gold. You've got to have the right edge closest though. There is a video or two about it on youtube
