I liked the chrome on the door handles and I loved the wood on the steering wheel. I don’t care about analog or digital personally they are both pretty good. Ram is really trying to make people pay more as if they aren’t already too expensive.
It’ll be half priced on the secondhand market in a year or two. I say this not to bash, as I’m a Mopar fanboy, but also someone looking to buy and kinda over the “supply constraint issues” excuses dealerships are using to screw buyers. Might cost me more than my current truck is worth, but I don’t have a payment, and I can do a lot of the work myself. I just really don’t want to.
@@jeffthebean1 Your right. I’ve already got my truck anyways, got a 17’ 1500 and just purchased a 22’ 1500 for a really good price. It’s only a sport buts it’s still got all the leather and the fancy screen. Maybe in the future I’ll get a limited since my sport might become a work truck but I really don’t wanna spend all my money on just 2 trucks.
I wish ram (and all other makes) would make digital gauge cluster a option. Not standard. Personally I like analog with a digital middle portion. Thank you for the video.
@@Brette_Caldwell I’m 16 and Ngl I love analog niddle speedometer I’m not a huge fan of digital analog or most digital stuff I just want a nice sound system and apple care play that it otherwise kinda disappointing on ram for it tbh
my 03 regular cab hemi still sound and pulls as good as new , quality oil is 100% necessary for these hemis….. use nothing else than redline and ams oil on these
The new display is nice, I am wondering if they will put night vision in the upper trim levels of the 1500 since this display is the same one in the Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee.
I don't have black pieces on my door handles where the chrome would as I have the night package of a 2022 Limited. I like those smoked plastic piece on the side mirrors of the 2023, I assume that they can be easily replaced on a 2022 mirror as it would suit the black night edition side mirrors.
I’m glad I have my 2020 Longhorn. Too many features lost on the new models from Laramie to Limited. And the digital gauge cluster without the filigree is just not the same. The love affair with attention to detail is lost in the new modes !
Love this truck. Now that the 23 are out, I can get a sweet Hemi, lease return, 3 years old, low miles, much....much cheaper. less pain in the pocket. I love those wheels too.
How difficult are you finding it to do the interior swap/build? I’m looking at getting a cheaper truck and doing something similar (swapping the crappy radio for the 8 inch touch screen and the nicer gauge cluster)
everything has been purchase from eBay. Luckily I was able to get most of the things cheap since I started few years ago before everything went up. Only thing I’m missing it’s the limited seats and the leather dash with wiring and install my clock spring to have heated/ventilated seats and the heated wheel to work. So far I have to spend over 7k. Everything has come off from limited trucks . Wheels, door handles, chrome mirrors with the reverse feature, review mirror with the auto dim mirror/review mirror, cluster , center console, dashboard, 8.4 connect, glove box, leather handles , door panels “those I had to remove and transfer everything to the panel since it’s different from a 4 door”, modules, clock spring, floor mats, antenna harness , door sill, chrome knob for the lock and unlock, AC vents, steering wheel, harness to make the ambient lights to work from the door handle the bottom storage , powder coat the rims glossed black. Getting there to finish my project. Seats and sash are the most expensive thing.
All of the electronic features add complications and failure points to truck operation. A farmer in my area can't get a 2 door cab. He needs maneuverability while still having a long box which is also hard to find. He no longer cares what brand it is as long as he gets that. He is also 75 so he won't understand the dash. I want an extended cab without the silly looking tiny doors. The suicide doors were A1. I would be fine without the doors though. I also want an 8ft box. I would rather have regular gauges if that dropped the price. I would lean to the base model work truck version. In Canada the web site only tells us about the chip shortage. We can't see any truck features unless we go to the US site.
Dealers are going under because of the crazy interest rates no one in there rt mind is going to finance a 50k truck for 8 percent interest. All the dealers in my area are setting on a lot of old inventory because people aren’t buying rt now.
nice video. I am looking around and don't see where you did a more in depth on the 12" screen and navigation. Can we just talk to put in a destination?
I *HATE* the woodgrain on top of the steering wheel on my 22 Limited. It's slippery, HOT as hell in the summer and does not eat as fast or as much as the leather part of the wheel. The 2023 Level 1 does NOT come with it. They probably did away with it because of all the complaints.
Only new things I know for the TRX is that the 12in cluster is standard on it now and the door handles are black like the big horns and rebels now, instead of body color.
I have a question and since you seem to work at a dealership you might be able to help me, I bought a used 1500 2020 crew cab with 21k miles and on the sticker price it says it has the bighorn level 2 equipment package which includes the power folding mirrors but my truck does not have them neither have the button on the door panel, do you know why wouldn't my truck come with it and I don't know if the first owner didn't notice or even if they didn't know it supposed to have it, but I notice when I bought the truck when I read the list of things it has, If for some reason it was an error when they build the truck can I make a claim or do something to get the manufacturer to install them?
Are the original OEM mirrors on the truck? I’ve seen vehicles get traded in where they don’t have the factory mirrors. Rather they broke the factory ones and replaced them with a cheaper non-power version or there went to tow mirrors, which until recently were not power folding. If you have the original window sticker, and since it’s probably still under its three-year 36,000 mile warranty. I would take it to a dealer and claim it as a factory defect. I’ve seen vehicles come in missing options, we actually have one on our lot right now, a brand new classic 2022 1500 that is supposed to have remote start, but the button is not on the key fob.
Glad you point out the limitation of the 12" - but the NAV with tomtom is a total fail, worst navigation software on the planet and uconnect updates are NADA.
No one want chrome anymore ... I don't understand how anyone could order a new ram 1500 without the 12" and the digital gauage cluster . Imo it's a must especially for resale .
I have to watch that favorites button again. That came from nowhere and might change a little of my dislike for my RAM. But I REALLY "dislike" tomtom navigation software.
Here’s changes for the 2023 Laramie: 1. No more fender flares. It looks like a Big Horn now. 2. LED headlights are no longer standard. You have to get the Level 1 or B package or else it comes with Halogens, like the Big Horn. 3. The chrome appearance package is no longer available. 4. The rear seat armrest center console only has cupholders now, no storage. They actually began doing this in the later ‘22 model year.
I really don't know what dodge is thinking. Saw a review of the Hurricane high output as well, and I'm not impressed. Any dodge/chrysler/jeep/ram forum could comfortably make decisions better than the current leadership.
Hurricane is pretty dope and has been swirling (ha) as a rumor for years in Allpar forums. It’s a good engine/base for a last ICE platform. I’m eager to see it as an option in the Ram, or hell, the base engine. They could even do a no turbo, and two stages of turbo tune as an option. I’d 100% get a non-turbo in a Big Horn as long as it at least matched the Pentastar in power/torque.
Punish them by not buying the 23 models, honestly, if the tradeoffs aren’t worth it. There’s likely some on the used market, and it deprives Chrysler of any profit on it and saves you some money. For my money, I’d grab a 19 with a V6, maybe a Big Horn with a sport appearance package because I don’t dig chrome. One thing Ford does better that used to be Ram’s thing, is adding the sport appearance package without tacking on a buncha useless shit, or options I don’t want. At this point, I’d buy whatever truck I wanted/could afford and just buy new front and rear bumper covers/door handles and have em painted and toss that chrome stuff in the dumpster.
Did the nav come with the crap software tomtom? I got the 2023 limited longhorn and seeing tomtom and it's failure THEY CAN KEEP THEIR RAMS. I absolutely HATE my new truck. Worst purchase I ever made. Being 75, it's probably my last purchase . Also, lane assist is deadly. It starts to dart off the lane within seconds, whether local roads at 40-45 or highway 65-70. Deadly junk. RAM may look good, but like the steering wheel wood removed, RAM cheaper out and my $77,000 msrp is a HUGE mistake.
The 22" wheels look stupid as far as I'm concerned 20's are a max size wise but personally I'd rather 18's with higher sidewalls that looks much better on these trucks...I also rather to old gauge cluster as far as the woodgrain on the wheel I'd rather do without it.
