I'm thrilled about the new map, but I have concerns that the development team is overlooking crucial aspects of base building and storage. Currently, these features are underdeveloped and need enhancement, especially in cold climates where building and shelter are vital. I'd love to see: - Improved survival crafting and shelter options - Upgrades to base building capabilities beyond what's available in the vanilla version - Additional character skills that reward players for longer survival - Enhancements to overall health through better nutrition mechanics Addressing these areas will significantly enhance the gameplay experience.
Additional skills? Soft skills are pointless the reward for staying alive in DayZ is better loot. Need to be warmer? Find warmer clothes or make a fire. Need to fix your clothes more? Find more sewing kits or duct tape. Gear fear is the antithesis of DayZs core gameplay loop hence why base building was and continues to be an after thought. It directly breaks the flow of going to places (that are not your base) to gear up. The idea that it [basebuilding] is somehow required for a cold map is disproven by the fact that Namalsk is arguably the most popular modded map and almost no Namalsk servers support base building. Namalsk also having been designed by Adam lends credibility to the idea that Sakhal will have a similar approach in its deisgn and flow. Base building only encourages gear fear and removes massive elements of the intended survival mechanics. They have obviously made concessions to the player base's desires as any game developer looking to keep a playerbase for ten years must but I wouldn't hold your breath for what is ultimately a very niche aspect of the game to recieve any massive reworks when they cannot/will not even address core issues i.e infected pathfinding. Regarding health and nutrition, there is already a penalty for food or lack thereof. Your stats regen slower, you're more inclined to get sick etc. Soft skills for length of life only give further advantage to people who should if following the game play loop already have significant advantages in terms of armour and weapons. Ultimately the game your describing already exists in various forms. Rust, 7 Days to Die etc provide the gameplay you seem to want. DayZ at its core is about the adventure you have life to life. Obviously you're entitled to disagree with my opinions here as I do not speak for every DayZ player to have ever existed.
DayZ is not a base building type game and it becomes insanely annoying as soon as people build up and camp on rooftops with unlimited weapons. You get one life, otherwise just buy a pc and play highly modded
Living in a northern state, id love to see actual accumulation of snow rising when it's snowing heavily. I'm sure that's hard to do. It could make travel way worse. Like, you'd have to find shelter because it can get so bad. Snow shelters even. Just an idea.
Thanks Marks! I appreciate your video updates - As a console player I cannot express my joy for us getting a new map 🙏🏼🙏🏼 thanks for sharing information
Hi Marks, I was looking at a recent dev post and saw a new type of plate carrier in an image. It has a pattern with white and gray squares and looks really cool!
I've been running a chernarus server for years and am seriously considering switching to this map. Customizing these maps is a lot of fun hopefully they add lots of new objects.
Would much rather pay $30 to support a game I've spent countless hours with my friends in having a good time, than pay for yet another yearly installment of COD that i play for a month then never touch again
Ngl I seen a basketball court I already know that if theirs anytime of base building going on here some of us will probably be playing basketball with a piece of stone or something
Since the government buildings on South Zagoria and Livonia have their respective government symbols I wonder if the government buildings on Sakhalin will have Russian government markings like the coat of arms for example.
@Marks technically we've always had the ability to set huge draw distances via the server side vis/object draw distance parameters and their coupled client side counterparts. I've run with as high as 8km on a 3080TI with mostly Ultra/Xtreme settings and still managed 40-50fps. The RedTic servers are set to render at 5-6km and I run at 5km on those with steady performance. DayZ performance at distance is certainly not ARMA 3 which on the same machine can have a 14km view distance with similar performance but the engine has come a long way as we've also seen in Reforger defaulting to 5km. Now making it something that can be set in game, that's a massive improvement, but I hope they don't take away the precise ability to set these values on the client side. Granted they may allow the server to set the various distances associated with each slider or just automatically distribute it between min and max based on the number of visibility sliders we'll get when the update comes out. I just hope that, like with Livonia, they push all the assets to the base game and don't fragment the community. Otherwise if creators create new maps with those assets being fragmented it will break up the community. I can only assume they'll do what they did for Livonia. Do you have any understanding on this? Adam hasn't run a dev stream in some time that would afford us to ask.
BTW, do you know if the fix to the zeds agroing ever released with the July patch or was that just PayDay. Seems like we've been on this 1.25 patch forever and a day given some of the bugs in 1.25-1.23 that are still outstanding. I just don't recall seeing it in any recent release notes is all but I've also been busy as of late. Cheers!
Great video but I can't help but think the creators of namalsk must be rolling their eyes at this 'new' content. We're so lucky to have immense mod creators keeping this game relevant
@@jonathanrees657 dunno if u already know this or not dude but , the Devs actually brought in the Namalsk mod creators to help them develop this map .... so probably not . ...& I'm only on Console but even I knew that one bro .
@dinnerwithdahmer554 nah didn't know that still seams like they're giving us something we already had and improving slightly on it. Perhaps next they'll exclusively develope and island map with a hidden temple 🤔
I know you PC guys are used to getting free shit, but thirty dollars for a map that one could easily spend hundreds of hours on is worth it. There's AAA games out there 3× pricier that offer even less content. @@Zalupaupa
All people do is complain 🫣 I’m very excited for this and buying this map will support future development. It shows there are lots of possibilities for the future state of DayZ.
Sounds like they are taking some features directly from namalsk, which I guess I’m actually glad about because I like the idea of having an official version of it, even though I feel bad for the modders who did so well
They should!... along with removing the "dead" tag next to a dead player... since it removes the functionality of "check pulse"... it would also be good if when the player becomes unconscious and has little health (blinking)... his breathing could not be seen... making the "check pulse" option more justifiable.
Personally like that on console you have no settings to tweak. It would be nice to have more intricate sensitivity settings but when it comes to visuals its nice to know that everyone is on he same playing field and if i need a flashlight so does my enemy. Justmakes it more enjoyable knowing that if any cheese is happening its coming from the game and not some nvidia like setting
I'm looking forward to this new map too but the thing I am not looking forward to is the duping that will start on day 1 release on console. This crap needs fixing somehow as it is ruining the game experience.
I hope there is a community server that is vanilla Frostline with build anywhere, 1.5x loot, and non-changes base mechanics, as in you can melee the walls
Have you seen the New Buildings on Bitteroot, PnW and others? Stuff that modders have done for free. Totally changes the feel. If we get the same bloody buildings we have been going in for years ill ,,, lol. You get what i mean. Not being able to do it doesnt cut it, neither does" we dont have the resources". If we are paying 30 quid(ill bet) for this by the Great Ozzy Osbourne we better get a full range of new Building assets. Seriously, i can just see us all walking into the first town,a town weve been in a million times. Oooh, a new chair placement. Wow, a table were there wasnt one before. Watch,,,, or tell me im wrong. 30 quid.
Everything we have to know about Frostline: 1. You have to pay for this DLC, but it's going to be available for free later, just like Livonia 2. Namalsk mods have already got most of Frostline's features 3. Sakhal isn't a new map - it's the tropical Tanoa main island from Arma 3 converted to the Arctic island. Console losers will buy Frostline anyway
