Everything WRONG (and right) with the Arrma Kraton 8S!

Very interesting review, what would you recommend for a 1/5 scale durability and fun basher?

Kraton 8s V1 was a big miss but now with the revision of the chassi braces its okay but i think its needs a v2 revision and release. Remplace also the crap stx2 radios of all of the arrmas and jam that dx3 instead

Sound pre-drive comments. I agree with most, except that in the UK the Kraton does undercut the X-Maxx on price by a significant amount. I'm due to receive my Kraton (1st Arma for me) today and so will be going big on the farm and running head to head with my lad and the 6S X-Maxx (and a host of Vorzas, E-Revos, Slashes, the Mugen and the Savage). I'm most concerned about that tower-to-tower strut. Crude design. Aluminium is the wrong material and it needs bracing at the centre tower. Surely the aftermarket will be producing something better, soon (carbon, steel?). Maybe I can find an old steel rod lying around...Hell, a piece of wood is better than ali pipe.

Good overview, do your best to just ignore the people telling you not to have an opinion on things on YOUR channel because you don't own it yet... it's quite easy to see things you like and don't like before you hand the money over. Can't say I agree with you on the motor mount and pivot ball steering, both have served me very will in my bashers and race-spec cars. A fixed motor mount would stop you changing the pinion out which is an important thing to have when the car can be driven in so many different situations. Agreed with the shock caps and shock locations, they should have been included! Can't say I've used the C-clips on the centre driveline so not sure how they hold up, but have had grub screw systems fail during races and that's also no fun, so I'd be interested to try it. And seems like you may be right with the centre brace, a few people have bend theirs so it could use to bracing in the middle possibly. The radio seems to be a good step up from the STX2 and looks to be in line with the Traxxas radio setup which is the direct competitor, so I think it's not too bad. Keep the content and information coming mate!

I put some PTFE tape on my V3 kraton pillow balls to stop these inserts to come out, and they havent move since

honestly ive been a fan of the shredder, i know its hard to get parts for but the price for the size is just great.

I completely agree with the chassis brace. People will keep complaining about the chassis, but if it's braced properly, it won't bend! The tower to tower brace should have been supported in the centre some how. Also I'm skeptical if the other two lower braces even work. As far as I can tell they are on hinge pins!?

The thing with the pillow balls just letting you know they do have a metal sleeve on the inside we’re that ball and the screw goes it so you are able to use thread lock for those screws

The DX2E does have endpoint adjustments! You need to hit the buttons on the top

There needs to be an optional carbon fiber center chassis brace. Much stronger than aluminum and lighter

The radio , they want the user to buy into the telemetry and use the app ,you can adjust dual rate and end point steering on the app. I use it on that radio and it’s night and day compared to the stx2 . I do really wish arrma would go the bind and drive route.

I think the metal wheel hex inserts are really ingenious and could be scaled down to other scales. With out the extra wheel of metal wheels. Hopefully they will offer a 17mm version

I think the best way to decide on which RC to purchase, is by watching videos like yours, that shows what’s WRONG with each one, instead of videos showing what’s good about them. I have a Traxxas Revo, and it is an absolute bitch to service the differentials on it. Whereas the Arrma Kraton is so simple and easy.

You might want to check the manual for the remote. It has full independent epa on both throttle and steering.

You are very experienced but there is one thing I wanna to say is metal gear servo is definitely better than plastic but I believe this servo comes with copper, which is not very strong, I will prefer the steel gear servo

M2c chassis will be needed, as one of the bashers on RU-vid already bent it, so add $120+ to the $899. He does do insane jumps, so if you do that too, then you will most likely have to upgrade the chassis. I might bite in a couple of years if they come up with the same size vehicle, but as an Outcast. Ive always loved the kraton..those are all minor flaws..traxxas although tuff ..are a pain in the ass to work on..take the maxx for example..and this coming from a guy that just bought a new rustler 4x4 vxl .

In my opinion you have been soft with it and they still think that Traxxas paid you, what's wrong with people 😂 or maybe it's just me... Talking about the sliding motor mount I prefer to set the gear mesh by myself than getting tight gears with a fixed motor mount, happened with the Vaterra Halix and with the Arrma 3S, the gears are too tight and the only way to fix it is modding the motor plate or buying the sliding one

Solar power versions in aftermarket in booth 1/5 and 1:1. If the after market wants to make a bigger tire I hear you Can remove the 17 cm adapter update to a 22 cm adapter when the after market brings out cool stuff. The stock 6s tires rock. I only did work inside ESC design.

The smart electronics can and need to tuned out the box..Punch and motor timing for sure..The motor timing is at zero from the factory..I agree with you for the most part but I like the sliding motor mount far more gearing options

Having "actually owning " the K8S for a Week now, I can honestly say it's amazing, no problems. Also this is a Brand new platform, mechanics & electrics, the Xmaxx is as old as god's dog! When a New rc platform comes out there will always be teething problems, but Arrma Listen to customers & revise there Rc's to improve them & Innovate just like there 6s off-road line !! This is a very exciting new Platform & the Potential for this Monster Truggy is endless, Arrma made this like an open book for Customization so Customers can do as they please, Plenty of room for Monster 1/5th Motors, Bigger batteries etc..... Some other companies make there RC"s so you can only use Proprietary Parts, which is BS & all about the $$ & them Cashing in! Props to Arrma for Making a 1/5th monster & not just Blowing up a 1/8th Kraton but manufacturing a whole new RC! BTW I'm not a fan boy of ANY RC manufacturer, just stating my opinion! Whatever you own, however cheap or expensive, as long as you enjoy is all that matters.

Servo is the same as the stock one in the DBXLE, it's total garbage. Torque is nice but it's horribly slow and super weak gears, all 3 of my xmaxx stock servos lasted longer than my stock dbxle servo

Snap rings are more annoying then the pin coming out like it does with so many RC without snap rings? Come on, they give you the tool for it and its not even an issue removing it VS the annoyance of the setscrew coming off in mid drive and losing it... Not disagreeing with you on other parts but that one i am because i find it more annoying when your shafts come lose because the set screws come out so ill take the small amount of time removing a C-clip or w/e its called and having a tool for it over losing my pin for my shaft.

My friend has one of these THEY PUT TO MUCH ON THE DETAIL OF THE WHOLE TRUCK AND IT IS WAY TO HEAVY TO DO ITS SPEED. FOR THIS MUCH FOR A TRUCK LIKE THIS I NEED THIS TRUCK TO DO 90MPH STOCK RTR NOT 40 ARE THEY SERIOUS WITH THAT :D LOL

MrPontiacfever At least the "double flush" as you put it, "courtesy flush" as I have heard it called, can be lessened greatly by buying a better toilet in the first place. Look for the American Standard with the 4" flush valve and 2-3/8" waste gate. My in-laws never clogged that one EVER. Now only if the RC companies would answer our calls and solve their own problems🤔. Like we all want a truck body. Make a wing optional. And Orange, Green and Blue color schemes don't make them different bodies. It would be nice if we the people would be listened to. Maybe some real engineers who like the hobby could start there own RC brand and answered our plea's. It's just a thought. Keep on bashing! But not a Pontiac. Keep that pristine

Seems strange to me they used 3 tubes for braces. Seems like 1 vertical plate down the center would be way stronger and less twist flex to bend the chassis. KT had his kraton 8s for like 1 day and bent the chassis plate lol. Then jumps the xmaxx 50ft in the air and keeps on going... 🤔 this will never be a "basher" or take the punishment of an xmaxx let's face it. It's a truggy lmao.

I bought this and regret it it's a slower heavier more expensive and less durable version of the 6s which I love BTW. If you want a 1/5 scale I recommend the Xmaxx %100 way funner to drive easier to work on the parts a way cheaper and in my opinion looks way better

It's not too hard to figure out that you know nothing about the ARRMA 6S line.... Almost everything or it was everything I heard when you talked about the things you liked about the rig you had no clue what you were talking about and the way they did to snap rings on those driveshaftsare nos and the snap rings you were complaining about are going to be so much easier. But I'm just going to stop there because you do very poor review on this and you need to go buy a couple of the 6s modelsand drive them a lot before you do a review first thoughts anyting just drop them and you want to do this over again 0 I would hope
