USUALLY I’m on board with most your critiques, but the comment about the shift in tone of Craig’s father (John Witherspoon) is off base. Yes, as a character he is cartoonish, however many black kids raised in south central Los Angeles relate to this movie specifically because our parental figures raised us the best the could in the environment they’re in. If you from LA , you understand how naturally funny our families be. And you also understand how quickly they could turn a moment into a life lesson. It’s an LA thing and I think Cube / Dj Pooh did an amazing job encapsulating that
