In all productions of King Kong, they skip that part. Because obviously they do. I guess showing us a bunch of guys digging trenches underneath an unconscious gorilla to get ropes underneath to air lift him out isn't exciting enough. I'd really enjoy a video by a biologist explaining how animal tissues can't actually be so big, and why an 80 ft tall gorilla would be impossible. That would be more interesting than any iteration we've had of a giant monkey.
This was her first film. I was 13 and she went on and had achieved many awards and honors. I grew up with her. All that and when she started she was just another beautiful model.
I saw this when it came out and thought, 'Wow... that robot they built for this film sure looks realistic!' Found out later they used for two scenes... the rest was Rick Baker in a suit.
Fun Fact: Universal had originally planned to make a more faithful remake of King Kong (1933) to be titled "The Legend of King Kong", which was going to be a period piece, set in the 1930s. However, they backed out when this remake was announced.
If you're going to be dipping into older and older movies for material, I'd love to see the cinemasins take on some real classics. Something like Rear Window, which you love to reference, or Arsenic and Old Lace.
That suit looks sooooo good. BUT in motion it looks so garbage, there is zero chance anyone would think it was anything other than a guy wearing a suit and makes zero effort to be anything other than a guy wearing a great looking suit.
Fun Fact: it was either this movie, or its sequel (King Kong Lives) that Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime, Mario from the Saturday Supercade cartoon, Predator, Eeyore and K.A.R.R, amongst others) was uncredited as the vocal roar of Kong
Let me guess, you’re gonna do the original one from 1933 much later. You’ve covered Peter Jackson, here, you’ve covered Dino De Laurentiis, now it’s time to finish up with Merian C. Cooper.
An uncredited Fay Wray, who starred in the original, has a brief, albeit uncredited cameo in this. Supposedly, she is the elderly woman in the crowd who screams when Kong breaks free
If you build a giant wall to keep a giant ape out of your village, why in the hell would you build a door large enough for it to walk through? Just build a normal size door to take your sacrifices through. That makes no damn sense.
It's surreal to remember a King Kong movie where Jack Black plays as a serious person who threw down with the swarms of insects, not the comedic fun guy who voiced a panda.
Okay, Lynda Carter in WW was my first and forever crush, but Jessica was the first alternative goddess that caused me divided feelings... totally with Big Monkey on this one. (Think of it, tall, dark, royalty and willing to die for his lady...)
I think the reason the reporters ran up to Dwan is because they used what happened to her on the island to help sell the show. That might be the only thing about this movie that makes sense. I saw this at a drive-in with my parents when I was a toddler. Imagine one of your earliest memories in life being Charles Grodin being stepped on by a giant ape.
Hey can I request some movies for you to sin: 1. The Spongebob Squarepants movie 2. Sponge out of Water 3. Monty Python and the Holy Grail 4. The Big Lebowski 5. The Great Dictator
Oh SNAP! NOT KING KONG 1976....😮seems sacrilegious...this is my fave movie😢. Is nothing sacred to you guys? Okay...it was funny AF...just like all the hundreds of other videos. I'll get over it I guess. Lol 😅
I just think about the dude who played Kong inside the suit. His resume would look something like this: "....other accolades include being body double for Dino Dr Laurentis' "King Kong" "You got the job man!"
Great recap. 👍Had it on VHS as kid, 30 years ago, so much nostalgia. Back then, I was already annoyed by the lack of rationality and how "blond" the blond was. 🤭
2:36 I legit stopped the video and went down a 10min rabbit hole about SS#'s. I had no clue there was and actual pattern to them and your birth state is related to the first 3 digits. Sin off for hopefully being the question that wins me a billion dollars!
I first saw it on TV, I believe at age 4. I liked it, and while I was aware of the 1933 version, I never got a chance until my parents got basic cable so I could watch it on AMC (back when it was what TMC is now) when I was 16. So I built up enough nostalgia to like this still. Saw the 1933 version for the first time in decades, and was reminded of how much more mean-spirited Kong is in that.
It always amazes me that in movies like this and the Peter Jackson version, someone doesn't speak up and say that over 90 minutes of normal stuff happening before getting to the main attraction is WAY too long to wait.
What I remember more than the movie was the relentless promotion on television showing off that ridiculous squishy mechanical King Kong "hand" that did nothing but awkwardly grab things and was supposed to the state of the art of special effects in Hollywood.
A King Kong movie where he doesn't fight a dinosaur is very disappointing in Escapes he fought a giant sea serpent, Mechani-Kong, and Gorosaurus what the hell were they thinking when they made this movie?
I just saw this with the 'FREE RU-vid Movies and TV' and its enthusiastic comment section, and this Vid should be: "Everything *RIGHT* with Kong'76 in 30min or more".🦍
Not only is the story and dialogue worse than the 1933 version - but the special effects aren't as good as the original ... really ... a man in a monkey suit wrestling a rubber snake.🙃 Max sins for that. It's a cruel world.
“I can't send a young pretty girl such as you ask on a job like this without telling her what to expect. To go off on a trip for no one knows how long, to some spot you don't even hint at, the only woman on the ship with the toughest mugs I ever looked at.”
Oh, this was do good. Asked a lot of the same questions i have too. Still, it didnt deter me from owning the dvd and the Collecters edition Blu Ray. I have a soft spot for this movie. The soundtrack alone Is worth it. Im taking 50 sins off for Jessicas legs ✨Shwing!✨
