Star Trek V sure is a movie. It's got a couple good lines, I guess. But boy, does it sin!
Next week: early Nic Cage sins & early 2000's horror sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

There used to be a similar sign in the on board toilets in British trains, there may still be in fact, because they basically dumped their contents onto the tracks. Presumably the set designers decided that starships of this era, instead of recycling their waste, just eject it into space. If they had to put Uhura on display like that, then it was a good idea to have the popular Japanese jazz fusion group Hiroshima perform the vocals and music. And the best scene was the moment of Spock's birth where the dad was disappointed that he looked more human than Vulcan. I doubt they could have found an actor with a more razor sharp jawline and chiseled features than the actor they found to play Sarek in that scene. And that was Spock's deepest buried trauma.
@rachaelandscottcangelosi5386
Not sure if you watched a corrected version, but in the turboshaft escape scene, after Spock activates his boot boosters, they shoot upwards and we see them pass various deck level signs. Kirk and bones taking their hands and feet off Spock and somehow not falling. Whoever designed them to speed downward after turning upside-down, but then somehow still keeping Spock in the air before he turns right-side-up again. The fact that they don't have a medium setting -- just low enough to hold one but not two people, and high enough to shoot three people in the air at high speed.

Additional sin for the Star Trek's consistent inconsistency as to how long it takes to get to and from the center of the galaxy. Another sin for Bones re-using the same "I'll end up talking to myself" joke from The Corbomite Maneuver. The movie was not recycling the TNG sets: TNG was recycling the TMP movie sets! These corridors were standing in the Paramount sound stages 8+9 from 1978 until 1994 (!!!). And even after that, "Voyager" used the same footprint for its sets, so from 1978 to 2001, the TMP corridors were the basis for the iconic corridor scenes in the Star Trek movies AND series!

Fun video on a slapstick, not-so-fun film. Thanks. :) Once thing, though. At about 17:04 you mention that Spock would not remember his birth. That is true for humans, but not necessarily for Vulcans. I think it was in the novelization of TWK where Saavik tells David that Vulcans do remember their birth experience. So, if the writers are drawing on that (at best beta-canon) factoid, then Spock recalling his birth is plausible. Alternatively, Spock's experience could be deeply buried in his subconscious and Sybok merely draws it up to the conscious realm, in which case this scene is Spock's first conscious recalling of his birth (note how he says, "I believe we are witnessing..." not "we are witnessing...").

Giving a sin for the continuity in deck numbers when Kirk, Spock, and McCoy were shooting up the turboshaft corridor with Spock's jet boots, and also for the Enterprise apparently having 78 decks. 2. This is considered the worst Star Trek movie ever made and it’s almost responsible for killing the franchise. The critics HATED this movie! So many problems here: Shatner’s inability behind the camera and his alleged ego, the creator hating the script, multiple test screenings with very negative results, and the list goes on what happened behind the scenes. It also has 5 Razzie nominations to its name, with 3 “victories” for Worst Picture and Shatner getting a double whammy for Worst Actor & Director. The other two were Worst Screenplay (losing against Eddie Murphy for Harlem Nights) and Worst Supporting Actor for DeForest Kelley (losing against Christopher Atkins for Listen to Me)
