The prequels are weird; people used to hate them unironically, but we meme’d on them so hard that over time there’s now a certain fondness for them
@palmtreelandscape

Not to mention people loved Clone Wars so much that the bad scenes of the prequels are now only a minority of what "prequel era" means. This gives people the occasion to focus on the few things where the movies actually excel: the combat scenes.

I actually think it makes complete sense Shmi holding on to C3P0. Her son was gone, maybe forever as far as she knew, and he was something he had built, a piece of him left behind. There's no way she wouldn't have kept him, and Lars probably fixed him up because he realised he could actually be useful, speaking the binary language of his moisture vaporators. The exact reason why Owen buys him in episode 4. In fact, now I think about it, maybe C3P0 actually WAS the reason Lars bought Shmi, because he wanted the droid for his vaporators but she refused to leave 3P0 because he reminded her too much of her son, Lars probably found that endearing hence their eventual relationship.

Although the Prequel Trilogy has its fair share of problems, it also holds a special place in my heart, as I grew up watching these movies back in the early 2000s. The Prequel Trilogy helped to expand the Star Wars lore significantly, while also introducing us to the Jedi Order in its prime as well as multiple new planets and species. I love all three films, and Revenge of the Sith ranks second in my Top 3 Star Wars films. Plus, John Williams' music in these films is simply divine.

Well... the Jedi Order in the very last days of its waning prime, at least. 200 years before the Prequels was it's real prime. Before the extremely long life of Yoda had, unfortunately, changed the Order in ways that he saw happening, but wasn't able to stop in time before the Sith latched onto that weakness. An unfortunate spreading of hero worship that had taken hold, and the Jedi who were utterly incapable of following the Force as Yoda naturally could had, enmasse, decided to actually make _rules_ for the Order that said that all Jedi had to try and act like Yoda. Banning things such as having children, Jedi being allowed to marry, trying to bury all emotion... You know - all the ways they'd failed Anakin, and were all obviously failing themselves. _(Didn't help that Yoda himself had become quite a bit rigid in his later years, and as such just assumed that once he was gone the Order would sort itself back out. Ontop of failing Anakin it also created other problems such as Darth Kryat - an emporer who ruled far longer than Palpatine, etc.)_ However... right? As much hate as these caught from shifting Star Wars away from a seemingly magical, mystical sort of story with some sci-fi tossed in... the novels had LONG ago already done that. Anyone who'd read them seems to have quite enjoyed the Prequels. Except, maybe, Jar Jar.

Taking Baby Luke to Tatooine makes a twisted bit of sense (going by the film novelization): Anakin HATES that place and would never go back there willingly, especially given all the pain he experienced there. HVAC professional here, yes I could make it to where you only send poison gas into a single room it's actually super easy barely an inconvenience.... A spaceship would have a zoned system in order to make each space comfortable meaning each room would have a damper in a duct that is fed by the main trunkline allowing the occupant to adjust the amount of airflow into the space. This means if you shut all dampers and opened just the one into the intended space you could indeed flood that room with gas through the HVAC system without risk to the other rooms. You wouldn't even need to invent anything new I could build this today...

In universe there's another explanation as well. The vast majority of the ship doesn't have any living being in it. The crew is basically just on the bridge, so they only have air in where ever the Neimoidians are. But that also just leads into "why not just expel the air and let the Jedi suffocate?"

LOL!! This reminded me of way back in 2001 when I played "Star Wars: Obi Wan" for the Xbox. My cousin, another friend and I, already could barely play the game without busting out laughing, cause during the game, you're following QuiGon and QuiGon and ObiWan's leg movements (while running), looked like they were tryin' to run with corn-cobs up their butts. Of course the weed didn't help matters any. But what actually ruined us for good that day was, I was playing and had made it to that room where the gas is going to be released. In the movie when the gas comes out of the vents, QuiGon simply says "Dioxin!!" and then he and ObiWan hold their breath. In the game when the gas is released QuiGon calmly says the word, "Dioxin!!" but right after, screams out the word, "gas" like a pissed off drunk person with a speech impediment. It sounded like, "GAAHH YYYYUSSSSS!!". {0.o} I dropped the controller on the floor and we laughed I know for a half hour till our sides friggin' hurt. 😂 🤣 💀

I would love to know how these turned out in the parallel universe where Lucas actually sought edits and criticism for the scripts before handing them over. I always got the impression he wasn't _that_ bothered about the Star Wars Universe he'd created - he was a bit of a hack, and it was the vehicle universe for those films he wanted to make that time, rather than a place he fell asleep thinking about. There were probably hundreds of scriptwriters who were more invested in the details than he was, and with a keener sense of what actually need go into a film.

If only you and I could have convinced the world to just not watch them. I regret it, because of these and the movie prequel to The Thing, I don't watch prequels anymore. I'd just rather NOT know. My imagination of the "clone wars" as a little boy, vaguely hinted at by Obiwan was FAR deeper and richer than how GL and his teams portrayed it. What a let down. They're all boba fett clones except each has brain damage or implants to follow any order, no matter how dumb. How boring. It's just like other reviews, I kept hoping they'd get better but it only got worse except for Sith not having any kids. That's the best part of that whole movie; no kids. Then the end. That part really makes zero sense. Darth goes Nooooooo! (to me there are no other Darths - the prequels and NuMovies are all fanfic and I don't read comics or books about star wars either so they don't count in the fun original tale called star wars) and Emperor goes "it seems in your anger you killed her" or something like that. In the whole time from Luke and Leia being born, that WHOLE time, old Darth never went to check and see if it was true or not? Never asked one question? Never tried to find Obiwan (which would lead him to finding Luke) or Yoda? He's supposed to be incredibly intelligent besides a great pilot ("spinning is a good trick! ugh.) and they really want all of us to believe Vadar just said and thought: "Ok boss. Whatever you say." and then for at least 16-18yrs just does nothing? That part in the 3rd og movie shows he redeemed himself by not letting bossman kill his own son. But based off history if he did nothing for 16yrs, why would he even care? He was going to torture and kill Leia but she escaped with Lukes help just in time. He should have been laughing when Emperor was zapping Luke, pulling his mask off only to spit on his corpse when finished. According to new trilogies, that's how it should have gone down.

I agree with all entries except for one. Dooku did sense Obi-Wan listening in on his conversation with Nute Gunay on Geonosis, but he decided to ignore him as he knew Obi-Wan would be captured soon as guards were already warned about it. The first talk between the two reveals indirectly that Dooku knew Obi-Wan was there all along, but let him as he still hoped he could turn Obi-Wan to his side. At this point, Dooku was not yet outright evil and he was simply battling what he rightfully saw as corrupt Republic, just like the rest of the Separatists. In Attack of the Clones, none of them, with partial exception of Nute Gunray, were outright evil. I say "partial exception of Nute Gunray" because, as we all know from Episode I, Gunray was simply manipulated and used by Darth Sidious and was not evil by default, but by bitterness over the events of Episode I. Dooku's duel with Obi-Wan, Anakin and especially his former master Yoda was what finally pushed Dooku to the side of evil and, by the time of third movie, he was a full villain. To this day, I think that Dooku and members of Separatist Council did not deserve to die the way they did. They should have stood trial for their crimes.

I have to disagree with you. Dooku was teetering on being evil before Qui-Gon died. Qui-Gons death is what pushed him over the edge. He went to search for the Sith lord only to discover that he was leader of the Senate. Dooku was full blown dark side after meeting Sidous.
@SubduedRadical
@SubduedRadical Год назад
@@joshuabowen6919 Actually, that isn't entirely clear. While we can say he was evil, Anakin's statement "From my perspective, the Jedi are evil!" might be part of it. Dooku did see the Republic as corrupt bureaucracy to the detriment of the people. It's unclear if he wanted outright power (the typical "evil" thing) or legitimately disliked the corrupt (can we say "evil"?) government. He basically led a secession/revolution movement. One could argue that finding out the Sith Lord was also leading the Senate - the thing you ALREADY thought was corrupt and evil - might rightly push someone over the edge into deciding the whole thing needed to be brought down. And lest we forget, Dooku tried making his own apprentices, meaning he had plans to take out Palpatine. Again, whether for power or to rid the galaxy of his evil is a question whose answer died with Dooku - who looked shocked and betrayed when Palpatine ordered Anakin to kill him.

One of major issues I have with this trilogy is the treatment of Nute Gunray. He was the main villain of Episode I, despite serving Darth Sidious, but he was the lead villain in the movie itself. In Episode II, he became nothing more then a supporting villain at best. In Episode III, he was nothing more then a background villain. Despite this, he is one of only two villains - the other being Darth Sidious - who appeared in all three prequel movies. They should have kept him as main villain and have him killed by Anakin as such. While I am huge fan of both Christopher Lee and Dooku, Dooku to me was a totally unneeded addition to this trilogy.

A lot of characters set in episode 1 and large things got completely shafted and should have been properly kept to the end for the impact they had. (No, actually sincere there, regardless of how sincere you are about Nute, both should have had more planned, but I suspect the fact both ended up racist charictures made Lucas shift gears without clutch and dump them out the side of the plotbus)

I've never understood why "a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away" alien robots would use American slang created in 1941 during WW2. "Roger, Roger" was derived from the original military phonetic alphabet. "A" was Alpha, "B" was Bravo, "R" was Roger. Roger was used by radio operators and stood for "received" as in "message received."

You dwell way too long on the "queen not being part of a successional monarchy"-thing despite it being clearly stated in EP1 that the queen of naboo is elected. You even included the scene when Palpatine introduces Padme to the senate as being "recently elected" earlier.
@nicholasvinen
@nicholasvinen Год назад
The problem is that the word "queen" specifically refers to a member of a hereditary monarchy and not an elected leader. There are different names for elected positions like president or prime minister...
@Pfalzgarage
@Pfalzgarage Год назад
Well maybe in a galaxy far far away the word has different connotations or the historic Nabooians had reasons to want a head of state with more absolute powers without the restrictions of checks and balances yet still with the limitations of election terms. Ultimately it's just a word and there even is an on-screen explanation.

20:53 There are two types of force fields in Star Wars. Energy Shields that stop things such as blaster bolts and objects that move quickly, and those that stop actual physical things, such as spaceships (they had individual names but I am too lazy to remember). That one arc in the Clone War series where Saw Guerrera appears as a young man and his sister dies, this concept is expanded upon. Nevertheless, it only came to be because Lucas needed an excuse as to how X-Wings could enter the trenches in the Death Star on the original Trilogy. Honestly tho, its not so terribly contrived.
