Even though I knew how Ellie and Riley's story would end, this episode was still heartbreaking. Kudos to Bella and Storm for creating fantastic chemistry between their characters.💖

The escalator scene makes sense if you heard Trevor Noah's stand up routine talking about the first escalator in Africa (Zambia) and how schools would take field drips to the mall specifically to ride said escalator P.S. love the videos, keep up the good work

Zambia.... Zambia is not Africa, it is a country in Africa. And yes, people are amazed when they see new technology, the people had iPhones and computers but had never seen an escalator and they drove in their cars with their iPhones to go take pictures of it

Pause at 1.30: The picture on the desk shows a family in front of a rollercoaster. That rollercoaster is El Toro in Six Flags Great Adventure. The coaster is built in 2006 while the zombie outbreak day was in 2003. That is a extra sin. Zombies build this coaster.

"Back in 5 minutes" is the sign you put up if you are closed when you shouldn't be, for any reason. So the person who was in there went to the bathroom, or put up the sign when they closed early, and left the shop unattended in "open hours".

It was a prequel even without playing the game and knowing she died it was obvious by the fact its a prequel alone. The only surprise in this was they actually wasted an entire episode on this trash but seeming they put no infected in the entire season the budget cut 2 character episode makes sense for this cheap assess. Look forward to see how they kill off joel early in season 2 instead of the events of the game running from infected and being killed off by the trans girl they will probably just walk up stab joel in the opening credits job done.

5:37 I grew up in a small town and I was obsessed with the escalator in the tiny shopping mall, when I was a child. Granted, I was only 5 or 6, not 14, but I guarantee you, there are still children somewhere fascinated by escalators, even today.

@@sunburst6598 By producing the fake effect that if something is "progressive" or "different" then it's much more emotional/impactful than it is in reality. For example take this story change the romance to a white male and have the episode be focused on a straight romance that starts and stops within 5 minutes and people call it trash, a waste of an episode. But by making it lesbian and mixed race they play the diversity card and simpletons go "wowwww so amazing perfect writing" It was a trash episode for what it was. Where as episode 3 had a gay romance but it was actually an amazing episode because it was very well written this was just horrible writing with nothing in it to stand out apart from diversity baiting. It's just beyond cringe whenever stories force diversity for lack of actual writing can't think of a way to add character development? np just make them black Asian or gay hell its 2023 say ellie went trans in the post apocalypse oh wait part 2 😆😆. Then again I didn't expect much from a show that race swapped every white character they could lol. Glad I won't need to watch season 2 seeming they kill off joel early anyway even though I can see the activists eating it up already. "wow they killed off joel so ellie could be a strong independent women such amazing writing I love it"

The "Back in 5 min" guy probably didn't return in said 5 minutes because he attempted to ride a horse while drunk and then ultimately got a fatality when he chose to play as Raiden twice instead of another Mortal Kombat II character who didn't get him killed.

I thought a sin for claiming that in an actual apoloypse situation, people would only loot for essentials like sneakers and would leave things like Victoria's Secret completely unscathed. Nope. Looters would go for anything. And even if we go with the theory - they're now 20 years into a relatively safe QZ. Ignoring that people are still having sex and I'm sure some people still fancy the lingerie - bras and pants aren't exactly going to be getting made in the same quantities, but still needed. That shops getting busted!

The only thing I think this episode did worse than the game was how easily she was able to save Joel. I mean it was so damn good seeing her literally fight for both her life and Joel's while trying to find medicine and first aid. But the show? Oh hey look at this medicine just chilling in a cabinet NOT looted even though the rest of the house looks completely torn over a couple dozen times. Like what? Still easily the most emotional episode after Bill and Frank.

Some serious perspective needed at 9:52 - Please educate yourself on the horrors of Civil War battlefield medical treatment. The stitches shown here, even when used with dirty and inadequate needles, are mosquito bites compared to unanesthetized amputations. I know you said Civil War-era first aid, but this is still no comparison. Example given in paraphrase of surgeries from Shelby Foote's wonderful three-volume set on the Civil War: The surgeon, having no morphine nor any disinfectant, applies the only palliative available: rum. While the patient screams in agony, he hacks off the limb and unsympathetically throws it on the growing pile of arms and legs. Once the patient is removed from the table, the surgeon wipes off the bloody saw once or twice on his already blood-soaked apron and calls to the nurse, "Next."

OK I’m just gonna say this and I know I’m gonna get pushback but it’s just an opinion. I think this was one of the weakest episode of the season it wasn’t a terrible episode by any means it was just the weakest. I think it was way too fast paced really felt like we needed this thing to be a two-parter. I just didn’t feel the charisma and chemistry between the two actresses. They did fine it just never felt like they Were really like these deep friendship that turned into a romance typing. It just felt like they were just going through the motions. I honestly believe that this episode and three probably should have been made special, standalone things after season one. Because they kind of mess with the pacing of an already short series, but wouldn’t have been better this episode had more time to grow light came out like an hour and a half long special down the line. Just my idea again not a terrible episode by any stretch just the weakest.

It was a sht episode. It was made to save budget like most of the show. Much like they refused to put any infected in the entire season they had multiple episodes 60 minutes each of only 2 characters it's painful how obvious it is when watching where you see them making business choices to save money. The ellie and bill episodes would of been ok for the show if it was a standard 12 episode season but having 2 complete throw away episodes when they skipped so many amazing scenes from the game drives me insane like the entire sewers and underground hideout with henry and sam where they read and find the story of a group who hid underground from the city and who got infected even with the sobbing infected who was eating a dead human like it still remembered them that was insanely impactful but just skipped because it had infected gotta cut budget. Skipped the entire school scene which is super important to ellies development but I guess not important enough because doesn't show her as gay or way a black person only shows her missing a normal school life. Once again skipped to avoid paying for infected and the use of a school for the camera shoot. These episodes are made so much worse not just because they are there but because they are there instead of much more important and much better parts from the game.

You're whole analysis (is that the right word? lol) of how using 2 out of the 9 episodes to focus on queer relationships is spot on. Most reasonable people aren't upset about these episodes because its the not the focus of it. It's a relationship that happens to be same sex. No forced messaging, no "woke" agenda. Just good character building. Disney could really learn something here. Yes of course you can find dumbasses online that hate both these episodes. Ignore them and focus on the majority of ::gasp!!:: conservatives that just don't want to be force fed preachy dialogue about how queer non white non binary zems are so much more superior than white males. This is just good writing

Exactly! Episode 3 is about that one person worth saving, finding and saving that one person even if you "used to hate the world", referring to Joel. This one is about belonging and family, even not always agreeing or knowing the reasons, referring to Ellie's present circumstances. These episodes have concepts that have to do with just all humans, they just happen to use stories of same sex relationships. And that actually makes them human to an even deeper level.

Maybe do a little bit of research before you post something like you know what you are talking about. In an interview with The New York Times, Ramsey explained her thoughts on her gender. "I guess my gender has always been very fluid," the actor said. "Someone would call me 'she' or 'her' and I wouldn't think about it, but I knew that if someone called me 'he' it was a bit exciting." Regarding pronouns, Ramsey claimed she doesn't worry about what people use for her but checks the nonbinary option on a form. "I'm very much just a person," she continued. "Being gendered isn't something that I particularly like, but in terms of pronouns, I really couldn't care less."
