it wasn't just that the score was absolutely incredible (it was) but it was used so beautifully to accent moments. The slowmo run towards the light cycle with just the simple score playing was so satisfying. I wish more directors and editors cared about the value of sound editing like this.

That's right. The soundtrack is brilliant, no debate about that, but even so it could've been squandered by poor usage. Instead, it's used perfectly. If someone wanted to be disparaging they could say the whole movie is a music video, but then they'd have to admit it's the most incredible music video ever made :)

A lot of what made it amazing was the cinematography and direction. Joseph Kosinski creates some amazing science-fiction worlds and is very good at imagining these very complex and aesthetically pleasing shots.

I somehow missed it back in 2010. Watched it for the first time a few days ago on a 160” projector screen and full surround, high on acid and weed. To say that it made an impact would be an understatement only rivalled by how underrated this movie is. If I were a billionaire I’d give a billion to Disney to make a trilogy.

Sin 64: Corrupted/damaged hard-drives make "purring" noises like that when the stylus passes over damaged portions of the disk, so it's kind of a way to show that Tron is "corrupted." Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Yep. That's one thing that bothers me about this movie. The designers behind it went to such great lengths to build this look and the sound and it's all wrapped around such a lackluster plot with lazy writing. Another nice detail: Different, let's say, 'bitrates' of programs' voices. The lesser ones speak with much less granularity, sounding almost robotic like the guards or the randos in the Recognizer with Sam. Slightly more important ones get smoother while still just a bit off. Complex programs and ISO Quora sound almost human most of the time.

The problem with having Cillian Murphy in this movie is that his character was originally gonna have a MUCH bigger role in the sequel that never got made because not enough people remembered the original or cared about this rebootquel, but because Disney gave up on this universe after Marvel hit it big we're left with a useless cameo.

I felt the same way. Like they cast a well known actor for such a tiny role, only to have it be much bigger in the next film had it got made. I imagine Dillinger Jr would have gotten fired, wanted revenge, found his father's program. Meanwhile Sam would no doubt be trying to rebuild the Grid and find Kevin.

Brent Dreher this movie was poorly executed and kind of a hot mess. I saw it in theaters and for the first thirty minutes I remember thinking that it was going to be revolutionary and it just fell flat from poorly developed characters, unexplained plot threads, and Jeff Bridges playing the Dude instead of Kevin Flynn.

Mister E agreed. I saw it in the theaters when it came out and despite the flaws fell totally in love with it thanks to the visuals and soundtrack. It wasn't until a couple years later that I saw Big Lebowski for the first time and realized Bridges was sequeling the wrong past character. As for plot threads, there was a tie-in game that told about Clu's takeover that answered some of those questions (what delayed Flynn, was there resistance to Clu...), but honestly it raised just as many.

@@parkercrossland410 CLU was Flynn in a way with his knowledge, skills and faults. Flynn managed to evolve and learn about his mistae. Some reason CLU stuck what reason Flynn created him and stuck doing it at any cost. Partially because Flynn had this obsession when he created him. So when Flynn looks to CLU he actually looks his dark side, his error, his own "corrupted" visions. I just don't get why CLU waited so long to get someone open the door? He didn't knwo about Sam or not Alan came, just someone open the portla, get Flynn's disk and get out. Because whatever happens Flynn will make a move.

This film blew my mind when I first saw it, I was 11 years old and I remember being absolutely amazed by the visuals and the soundtrack. It still holds a spot in my heart, especially since I also used to love the Tron: Uprising series when it was airing.

Same here maybe I don’t know how many times I watched this movie when I was younger, probably to unhealthy extent. Tron Uprising was great, was sad to see it get the “I don’t want to play with you anymore” treatment from Disney just cause they got Star Wars. But hey at least Tron 3’s still in the works with Jared Leto now so theirs still hope now that the Third Tr*logy is out of the way. Let’s just hope Disney doesn’t mess it up too badly like lots of what it’s done recently.

The funny thing is, I’ve watched a lesser known tv show called Tron:Uprising , and it answers all the lore questions in this video(except how a program can enter the real world). It has amazing animation, and is very underrated( unfortunely Disney cancelled it too though). If you loved or hated this movie, I would still highly recommend it. It deals with more mature stuff then you think as well. Disney needs to give Tron a chance.

I know you have no idea what you're talking about, kid, but please don't try to "smack your PC to make it work". It won't. The joke refers to old soldering on TVs years ago, where an intermittent connection could be made by jostling the device.

The explanation to Clu "knowing" things he shouldn't is that he is a copy of Flynn. So any memories that Flynn has, in theory Clu should have as well. If you want to go even further about things he knows AFTER he was created, you could go with the: he has a link to Flynn, either in the game or overall (forever). There is definitely an easy way to explain this and actually a few other sins in this particular movie. I've only seen the original Tron once (in like early 90's after I rode the People Mover and was intrigued), so I don't quite remember all the stuff related to this movie. "Man there are so many things that are partially explained" ...then complains about exposition in the movie, after complaining about it to open the movie. Either you like the explanations or you don't man lol. If you want the movie to not have explanations written in, then don't complain about exposition.

Enjoy it while you can, before you know it you’ll be 30+ like me and realising there’s so much more you could have done to appreciate it! Actually, the director of Tron Legacy said there was already planning that happened for the next movie. However, Disney shut it down while they dealt with the Marvel movies. Hopefully once the MCU is finished the next Tron movie will be made.

I think it's important to note here that many of the things not explained in this movie was explained in the game TRON: Evolution which came out around the same time. It takes place between the original TRON movie and TRON: Legacy and explains stuff like The Purge and how Quorra escaped. The program she mentions when she tells about escaping is actually the System Monitor you play as in the game. Just some extra info for y'all. :)

Dont worry i completed the game and you arent missing too much aside from what quorra tried to explain in the movie, yes you do get to know how things were before the movie but still you dont get too much info from it, if you do like the movie and Tron as a whole i recommend you to watch Uprising and at least read the important plot details of Betrayal to get the gist of the whole story, but its quite flawed and its not a very polished game but if you get used to how stiff and quite restricted is you will finish it in no time, it just that it takes time to get used to its "crap factor" XDD

Jounzey Well, like the books, even the video game counterparts shouldn’t matter. The movie needs to be able to stand on it’s own and not rely on outside paraphernalia to work. The outside knowledge can be useful in supplementing and expanding the things found in the movie, but one should be able to watch the movie and understand it without having to have read any book or played any game related to the movie.

Love this because the more I watch, the more i realise his dad had accepted his fate and that he was never going home. He had found comfort in staying where he was and would never do anything else. Clue realised it and knew the only way to get Flynn to move and find him to get the key, was to bring someone else in. Now that his son is in, Flynn takes the time to think of how to get his son home and that's it. Not get himself out. That's why everytime his son mentions him getting out he goes quiet.

Actually went through comments looking to see if anyone said this. People tend to overlook that part. It's 'What would life be like in a computer' like the animated cartoon Reboot. And speaking of Reboot, the remake is decentish, if you ignore that it is Reboot as they pay some respects to it nut change a ton of stuff for the new series (like the fact a lot of it takes place outside in the real world).

Commander Appo tron 3 has been confirmed with jared leto in the lead as ARES. Its on imdb list n its been out abt a while back but for now there's no further news on who's directing n when its releasing. . I think its on hold again
