This was the first film, in years, that I actually went to a theater to see. It was at a Cinemax with these amazing seats that were huge and you could tilt them back like a barca-lounger. Pretty cool. Funny thing was that I'm a senior so I went to the first showing of the day because it's cheapest. Went at about 11 a.m. and for the ENTIRE film, I was completely alone in the theater. It was as if I was at my own "private showing". Very cool. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the film. The film just totally lacked "atmosphere" and I never lost sight of the fact that I was watching an American-made film.

The plane and army was able to find the island, because the stronger Diana become the easier it was for Aries to find her, so the island was becoming less protected.

One of the most sinful aspects of this movie was how Hippolyta kept talking about how everything Diana did to learn of her true self would bring Ares closer to discovering her: "The more she knows, the sooner he'll find her." "The stronger she gets, the sooner he'll find her." And yet the movie would go on to show that Ares had no fucking clue she existed up until the moment she walked right into his war meeting. She was learning more, and growing stronger, and actively looking for him the entire first act and start of the second act, and this dude was completely oblivious. What in Tartarus was Hippolyta even talking about?

Apparently there are a bunch of people (including me) who will react instantly to something visual but need a few seconds to interpret spoken words. I'm guessing Diana's brain took in the mouth shapes but didn't put it all together until later.

Two problems with this otherwise amazing movie: 1) The romance between WW and Chris Pine feels forced. Like the movie could have done without her falling in love with the first guy she meets. 2) Ares shouldn't have been literally, he should have been more of an overarching idea than a character for her to defeat. But that's just me.

I have mixed feelings about this movie. My first thought on coming out of the theater was that it was good... for a DC movie. On the one hand the action scenes gave me chills, the battle on the beach, no man’s land, the warehouse! But I thought the story was kind of weak. The main question I had was, what was the point of Ares? The whole movie it’s this story of how Ares caused humans to become evil and if Diana defeats him the war will end and men will be good again. But then after Diana thinks she’s killed Ares and the war doesn’t stop, she loses hope in mankind. And then Chris Pine has his really touching speech about how maybe men do have inherent evil, and maybe they don’t deserve to be saved but he’s going to believe in the good in them and fight for them anyway. BUT THEN we discover Ares is still alive and he says he isn’t “making” men evil he’s only “setting the stage.” Will first off, if men are inherently bad and capable of waging war all on their own, why would Ares need to set the stage at all? If he wasn’t involved would the war not have started? In which case men really aren’t al that bad and Ares WAS the cause of evil and the war. And then when Diana kills him, the war ends...sooo... what? So Ares WAS the cause of the war if his death just suddenly ended it all. In which case the whole message of the movie, about how it’s not about deserve but what you believe, is totally negated because Ares was the cause of the evil all along? Haha sorry if I’m reading too much into this, that whole plot point really confused me though because it basically negated the whole point of the story.

Please don't do an Everything Wrong with Wonder Woman 1984 - your video will be longer than the movie itself....

It's nice to hear someone confirm all my own concerns about the movie. You missed one though, the boring story of the "Greek gods" in the beginning with the bedtime story was actually the story of Lucifer falling from Heaven with the names switched out for Zeus and Ares. Whether you know the actual Greek story for the creation of humans or not, that was pretty obvious to me as well as really irritating and lazy.

Missed a few: The aeroplane Steve Trevor pilots to Amazon Island is a Fokker Eindecker III, a plane that was obsolete by mid 1916, but film takes place near the end of the war in late 1918. Diana and Steve sail out in an Amazonian sail boat, but Steve is the one who knows how to sail, not Diana. The poison gas is flammable because it contains Hydrogen, but for hydrogen to be flammable, it needs to be free, not part of a chemical compound (try setting water on fire, it contains hydrogen). So either the hydrogen is inflammable as it is part of a chemical compound, or it has nothing to do with the poison gas and therefore has no need being part of it.
