Have you ever had difficulty effectively checking or catching kicks? If you've taken kicks to the ribs when trying to catch them, or taken too many hard kicks to the forearm, then this video is for you.
In today's tutorial, I am joined by my partner, Marisa. The other day she asked me for help with defending kicks, and I thought others might benefit from this too, so we made this video. This tutorial covers everything from catching kicks Thai style, checking kicks Thai style, blocking kicks Dutch style, a hybrid way of checking kicks, intercepting kicks, and countering kicks.
The footage I include is from my 4th ever fight in 2011 and from my rematch with Rungrawee last year (over 70 fights deep into my career). This just goes to show how important it is to have sound fundamentals. This is the stuff I've used in literally every stage of my career, and you will too. I can't emphasise this enough.
