I've been going to KOA campgrounds for almost 20 years and your video really reflects what it's like. Good work Robert

State and National Parks are more our style. Otherwise Harvest Hosts or boondocking. Stayed at one KOA Ft. Collins one night. In general we want to be more that 10 feet from neighbors on each side. That said, this was a helpful video.

State and National Parks are great ways to camp. We struggle with finding spots due to the fact that our fifth wheel is over 41ft long. It limits where we can get in to. Yes, we enjoy being more than 10-ft away from neighbors too! We've found that the KOA Journey's tend to be a bit tight but they're built for short stays. The Holiday's and Resorts we've visited have more space for stretching out. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! -Chris & Suzannah

We are literally at a KOA journey right now. Been here almost a week. So you're saying I did it wrong? 😂 Just kidding. This is a nice KOA with 2 stocked fishing ponds and a nature trail. They also just got a brand new playground while we were here.

🤣🤣 nope, you didn’t do it wrong. They’re all a bit different. The journeys just have to be near the highways but each of them seems to have something unique. Go fishing!!

We like KOA’s, we’ve had our membership with them for a few years, we’ve stayed at quite a few from Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Kansas, Florida & a few others states throughout. The one in West Virginia we stayed at was small.

It’s really cool that they’re everywhere so you have a sense of what to expect no matter where you go. Guessing you’re in the VIP status with all those stays!

Although I'm not a big fan of KOA's, we have stayed at a few dozen over the past 4 years of RVing with our travel trailer. The one thing I do like about them is unless it's a holiday weekend, you can usually get into one that day. We have made reservations on the road about 2 hours away from many of them and had no problem getting into one. Yes, they are a lot more expensive than a State park, but they do have the amenities if you need them. Definitely purchase the membership if you plan on staying in them several times throughout the year. It does pay for itself. Nice video and thank you for pointing out the differences in the Journey, Holiday and Resort!

You’re right. They usually are able to get you in on short notice. We had to use them a few times on short notice as well and it was always a comfort knowing what to expect. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

We enjoyed KOA years ago when we were traveling around the country in a class C. We just ordered our East to West 365Rl, and will most likely continue to use them. Good information on the different campgrounds. I believe we were using Journeys, we will have to check out the other types. Thank you for your video!

Yes, you need to check out the Holidays and the Resorts. They’re a whole different ball game. Enjoy your new E2W!!

I also like that with the membership you can book way in advance and only make a deposit of 10%. Most everywhere else is 50% with strict cancellation fees where as with KOA VIP there is no fee for cancellations. I always cancel well in advance if necessary so I have no idea what the fees are for late cancellations. The catch with reserving in advance is that you don’t get to select your site unless you pay a few for that, but that is just a minor gripe. Just look at the map of the park and be careful to book the “type” of site you want and know the general vicinity of where the group of sites are. They are color coded to make it easy to see.

Great video! We are newbie RVers and so far love the convenience of the KOA app for reserving sites way ahead of time (up to a year or more) and choosing exactly what type or what price of site you want. So many State and National Parks are making you wait until 6 months ahead of your stay, then there’s the mad mass of folks trying to secure a site online at the same time. Didn’t know about charging extra for kids since it’s only the two of us and our dog. That’s very strange indeed. They’ve starting charging extra for dogs at a few of the places we’re booking also.

Thank you! KOA does make it easy to make reservations. We did learn recently that some of them charge $20 for requesting a specific RV site. We are a little too big to fit in any State or National Parks so having KOAs right by so many of them is nice.

Shelley and I stayed at four different KOAs last year during our Black Hills and Devils Tower trip. They were fairly nice and well maintained. Plus, they were located along our route. In fact, two of them were conveniently located next to two of our destinations, one being across the street from the entrance to Devils Tower National Monument, and the another is nearby Badlands National Park. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels -Craig & Shelley

Stayed quite a bit at KOA's and do like them a lot but I mix it up with Harvest Hosts, Independent RV campgrounds and boondocking. Their like an Oasis of sorts to me with lots of needed amenities along the long routes I take. Thanks for a great review and continued safe travels down the road.

They are a great way to mix things up. You pretty much know what to expect so when you need the full hookup in between boondocking they’re great.

We've stayed at SO many KOAs, from Colorado all the way through midwest and up to Maine. So hit or miss, to be honest. But usually a good experience.

I only stayed at KOA when they need volunteers to clean their campground prior to opening in spring. 2 nights free for 4-5 hours of work. KOA is pricy.

KoA's are like where those upper office managers go on a company retreat. Way overpriced and definitely not for the other 90% of us who actually do this full time. Koa's range from $80 to $120 per night. And the points system are a joke. What Koa is $40 a night, can't even get a tent camp site for that at a Koa. LOL
@HintonTheTrail
@HintonTheTrail Год назад
The points system isn’t great. I think we finally got a free night after full timing for 3 years but we didn’t use stay at a ton of KOAs. Mostly the journeys for one nighters.

I dont understand, perhaps Im missing a critical piece of info. I see that all KOA's can be different, the one im looking at (Banning Stagecoach Journey) offers long-term stays at a fairly decent rate of like 690-750 a month. They seem reasonable, the nightly rate is 54 for non-members.
