Just dropping a summary of the points as a reminder to self: 1) Use real protein treatments which will strengthen your cuticles and slow down the splitting process 2) Trimming is important but if you're trying to gain length you shouldn't trim your hair often. 3) Trim your hair/Cut off split ends when your hair is dry not wet. 4) Ensure the scissors you use is as sharp as possible (makes the cuts a lot smoother) 5) When cutting your hair, try not to cut it at an angle, but straight. Lovely video, thanks @Green Beauty

THIRD - And thirdly, and what I think could have been the big reason why you experience new split is that a lot of people wrongly assume that keeping your hair away for a long time in braids or weave is a good for persevering your hair while it grows. If you don't install and maintain it properly, it could cause even more hair loss and breakage.

I've always had split ends and I thought something was wrong with me lol 😩. I've been on a hair journey to classic length but every year I cut off about 6 inches and I still have split ends, thank you for this video because I was literally about to cut off 2 inches. I’m going to up my protein and put away the scissors, I might update this comment in 6 months lol 💕🤍

Trimming your end is not a bad thing. You just dont have to do as much as you may think. I personally trim my ends (1/2 an inch) three times a year.

@@GreenBeauty My stylist cut my front ends in an angle, guess i'm doomed..I'm REALLY trying to grow my hair to my hips, (Im at elbows,) I think I still have some split ends on my hair, (I didnt want my stylist to cut length) but I have decided to just keep them moisturized, If I chop more off, I will just lose length and really regret my decision as I have been growing my hair now for 1 and a half year.

Yes, so the order is water, leave in conditioner, water based cream (I will show you how to make your own in an upcoming video) then oils (the oil is optional)

GreenBeauty is this still (lco method) better if you have high porosity hair?
@GreenBeauty
@GreenBeauty 11 лет назад
lol okay to clarify, what I mean is that your cuticles are scales that lay on top and protect your cortex like a shield. Over time activities like applying heat, manipulating, washing will eventually cause damage and strip away at your cuticles. Leaving your cortex exposed. Your cortex is very fragile and once its exposed will start to split. I was comparing your "cuticles to a protective shield" not "split ends to a protective shield". I hope this makes sense. :-)

FOURTH - I'm going to be uploading a video on how to properly install and maintain braids so it can serve a positive purpose. But, in the mean time get to know your hair but wearing it out more often and use your own hair when putting it in a protective style, especially in the summer months.

hi, I've been watching your videos lately. I absolutely love all the information I'm learning. It's very detailed and I'm learning a lot. And I'm just starting my hair journey. So I'm looking to everything to help on my hair journey. But it feel like everything so overwhelming as I learn. Like what I shouldn't do or do so it's difficult. But I've always been natural. But I never put energy in my hair. Expect washing bi weekly and putting it into a protective hairstyles. Now I've found that high porosity hair and it very thick and medium dense. I'm just trying to find out a good place to start. I've started moisturizing my hair daily with loc method I usually use aloe vera spray or leave in hair milk spray, leave in cream, and castor oil or coconut oil. But still my hair comes out frizzy even after moisturizing it daily. For wash day, I don't have complete regiment yet. But I usually wash my hair bi weekly: shampoo, deep conditioner hair mask, rice water rinse (for my protein treatment), and then the loc method. Overall, I'm highly frustrated, confused, and stressed. Because I don't where to start on my hair journey. I was wondering if I could get some tips or info that could help me get started on my whole hair journey. Thank you, jamarrea

FIRST - Okay so since split end equate to cuticle damage. the only way to avoid or at east slow down the process is to be as gentle as you can to your hair strands, eliminated any drying activities to your hair strands, and eliminate the use of harsh ingredients in the products you use. Your new split ends could have been caused from a number of things. First, the method in with the stylist cut your hair could be to blame for causing you end to be weak and unravel easily.

This video was EXCELLENT! I just posted a video about how I have these Incomplete splits that have kept happening. It felt like I had a knot but when I cut a few of them, I noticed they were incomplete splits. This is so frustrating. I was trimming them and they would re-appear. I think it's because of my scissors which I ditched and got a new pair. I'm hoping this will fix it all because I don't abuse my hair at all.

SECOND - Stylist usually cut hair at an angle with increases the surface area of your ends and increases the chances of more splits. Secondly, its possible that the shampoo that was used to wash your hair at the place you got the braids and full weave could have been to harsh and drying, which causes your cuticles layers to just break off.

(1/2) Its not that your hair is not growing, its breaking as it grows. There is something you are doing or not doing that is casing you hair to break at an exaggerated rate. A REAL Protein Treatment (with Hydrolyzed wheat protein) will quickly stop the breakage. After your REAL Protein Treatment, revisit everything our use and do to your hair to discover what it is that you are doing that is causing this breakage.
