In the book "liquid intelligence" Dave Arnold He recommends throwing the ice at the end since the ice is a natural antimaezclante. I tried it and it's amazing how you get more bubbles this way.
@@KevinKos I saw people putting a dash of vermout in the mix glass, giving it a quick swirl, then tossing it in the sink. Only then adding gin and ice. That's your dry martini. I don't know how you can even detect a scent of vermouth in that, I for sure cannot
Brit here. First drink of the holiday. One pint glass full of ice, a quadruple measure of Gordons, top up with schweppes tonic, half a lemon squeezed into the glass then its carcass dumped in. Give it a swirl, good to go. That's a Gin and Tonic. Extra points if it has a faint aroma of mosquito repellent.
Questions for the connoisseur...... In my city i can only get greygoose and Tanquerine Gin The guy at the licore store said Tanquerine Gin is the best. Is that right?
Impugno la ensalada. En España los G&T siempre fueron de Larios con Schweppes (with Suntory licensing, not Coke lic like in the rest of EU) and ONLY top with a twist of a green lemon peel. Not a lime, an unripe lemon peel. Another topping could be very little cinnamon splinter and point orange peel. Too sophisticated for me.
Hmm. Pretty complicated. Gin and tonic starts wit bombay Sapphire or one of my locally distilled tomcat or pink peppercorn gins. Maybe "Bluecoat". Something heavy on the juniper. Fever tree tonic and mix it 4 to 1 . Don't forget the lime
Yes Gin Raw is just such an amazing Spanish gin. Not very well known to the public. Great work you are just amazingly good at what you do 😊 and the 2:1 is the perfect ratio. Hate when they fill a whole 200ml with a 50 ml
I enjoy a simple Gin and tonic with a lime peel twist and an ounce of lime juice. My preferred gin is Bombay Sapphire gin, so the Tonic flavors don't overpower the gin.
3 Cents is an amazing soda company and I personally enjoy very much to have a Hendrick's with Aegean Tonic which has a subtle cucumber aroma and pairs perfectly. I would love to see more pairings with different Gins and flavored tonics such as cucumber elderflower etc. Great video overall once more mate! Cheers!
Nice video, here in Argentina the Gin & Tonic is a classic, we make really good gin too because we have all the ingredients naturally and excelent spring water... in now days there's an explosive wave of G&T in my country and i love it.
@@ellyam991 Hola! :)
I have played around with the GnT at parties and find the tonic taste is sometimes unpopular with novice gin drinkers. I make my GnT with 2.5 oz of botanical or dry gin (drinkers' choice), 1 oz (or the juice of one lime, shake in a shaker and strain into a tall glass with ice, top off with tonic water and garnish with a sliver of the lime peel (after expressing the oils). It may not be a purist recipe, but it goes over very well with new gin drinkers and is great at warm weather parties.
Hello ! I have a question but its related to lemon super juice, today I bought a lot of lemons to make Óleo Saccharum and since I used all the peels already, can i still make lemon super juice with just the lemon juice and not using the peels? I just don’t want them to go bad or hardened since the party is next weekend 😧
Hey Oscar. The peels are essential for making super juice as they contain all the essential oils the give out the flavor - which is why your oleo saccharum will be so good! Just adding water and citric acid to lemon juice won't give you that boost of flavor you'll get with Super Juice. But what you can do is juice the lemons and freeze the fresh lemon juice! Take it out of the freezer on the day of the party and you'll be good to go. Cheers!
2:20 the "navy proof gin" was above 57° of alcohol and called like that because, if you were to find yourself in a dire situation during a naval battle, in which your gunpowder reserves were soaked wet by sea water, you could pour the spirit on it. 57° is the required abv to get the powder flammable again even if wet, and being able to fire your cannons again. I haven't tested the experience my self due to a lack of cannons, gunpowder barrels and gallion but the anecdote is fun to tell when you wheel out a "navy proof gin" out of your bar 😉
I really love the content of your videos! But as a non-native english speaker, I find it hard to follow. The combination of your heavy accent, lack of clear ar-ti-cu-la-tion and fast talking speed make it a bit difficult to follow exactly what you are saying. Please talk a bit slower and exercise some more clear articulation. Don't meltwords togetherinoneflowofsound. But. speak. words. seperatly. •novel , not 'nowel' •cocktails, not cockdels •progressivly less , not progressivless •of the craft gin movement, not 'ovdegravdgin movement' 03:59 I slowed the video down to 75% and switched on subtitles, that made it possible for me to follow your fine content. maybe this helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gp2VvmUJJc8.html
Hi! Thank you for this link, and sorry for my lousy articulation. I am aware of this problem, and I am trying to get rid of it. I think I am doing much better than from the beginning, but I still have a lot of space for improvement. As I said, I will do my best to get better, and I hope this won't turn you down from watching my content.
Kevin, I'm so happy you finished with a Japanese gin, the creations from the far east are the only reason I like gin at all. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend exploring the rest of the gins Japan has to offer, from the basic Suntory Roku to the overproof Komasa Sakurajima Komikan. My local izakaya has made me a believer and regular G&T enjoyer because of these spirits.
I seem to be one of the odd-balls that actually likes the taste of quinine. My parents and neighbors were big G&T drinkers when I was growing up. They obviously would't let me have the gin, but they let me have tonic water. These days I'm not a big fan of most gins (it's probably my least favorite spirit,) but I still love tonic water. I've found myself often going for a vodka tonic over the G&T, just to let the tonic shine.
I love a gin and tonic but remember sipping my Dad’s as a kid and after spitting it out he said “you don’t think I drink it because it tastes good do you?”, I now think that is exactly why he drank it.
The Gin and Tonic used to be my favorite drink, until I realized I don't want my vodka to taste like juniper. Now, the vodka tonic is my go-to. If I did gin, it would by Bombay Sapphire
Hi Kevin, great video...as always....😃 i've got a question though, can you make a ginger beer at home. I think it will go well with blended Whiskey, thank you
Great video. The oldest version of the Gin an tonic sounds right up my alley, except with dorothy parker instead of old tom gin. Just curious, could you make a video with slivovitz in it considering your slovenian? As a galician jew I'd love that. I actually invented a cocktail using it(serbian slivovitz of course).
Finally I get the chance to see one of my favorites (I haven't had th chance to check all your videos)... And honestly, I love your approach to keep it simple 🤤
As a craft cocktail bartender, people ask me all the time what my favorite cocktail is. I tell them it's the Corpse Reviver #2 (it is) but little do they know it's actually just a classic G&T, no garnish haha! Worst gin I've ever had was Four Peel gin. Favorites for me are The Botanist and Petoskey gin. Cheers!
@@ellyam991 Floral in a very strange way. Strong lemon notes that tasted off. Felt like I was sipping on straight dish soap. Personal tastes- to each their own.
