i like this because it shows that's it not about the money or even the glory, it's just coming and achieving the goal you set out to achieve and proving you're the best
KI was pretty hype for actually watching a Top 8 of it. It was pretty cool to be there in the front, got to shake CDjr's hand after that GF win. EVO is an experience!
dude, I've never played killer instinct but even if admit that that ullltrrrraaaaaaaa combo sound is the most epic and satisfying effect in video games to date.
C.A.T. Robinson You're very welcome. I remember you and your lovely dog that day, it's great to hear from you. That was touching of you to open your heart and your home to her. If you want to talk about having her portrait drawn, please let me know. mgzaloom@gmail.com
Thanks for the upload! I was in the crowd for this one, but was a little disappointed. I wanted some more hype/clutch counter-breakers; the crowd was really thin, and I think this game needs some exceptional tournament hype before it gets the following its fan base wants.
MLG ScizorZ Neither Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter had a true combo system. They both tried to follow in Killer Instinct's foot steps and add their own.
Ok a few questions. One, is Killer Instinct a game with a set button to block? Two, I KOF a game with a set button? Three, which would you honestly recommend, KOF or Killer Instinct. Four, what do you personally, the replying person, think about the MK style of blocking, and is the "walk back" to block better or worse? Ive gotten very good at MK and Injustice so before MKX comes out, what fighting games might I buy? I dont plan on doing any tournaments.
Out of all of those games, Mortal Kombat is the only game with a block button. KoF Is my favorite fighting game, but I absolutely love Killer Instinct. May I suggest buying both? And I prefer the "hold back to block" over the block button mechanic. I love Mortal Kombat, but the block button negates the threat of cross-up attacks, which makes some situations a tad less interesting.
Id say Killer Instinct is "easier" when it comes to combos. Outside of the normal mind games you find in most fighting games, KoF has an EXTREME execution curve. Most combos are 2 framers and 3 framers, 3 types of jumps with a run system, 3 different meters to keep in check (Drive, Super, and Guard), etc etc. Both games are very fun, but I think KI is easier to pick up. So i would go with KI for now simply because it's scene is growing rapidly, whereas KoF XIII is slowly diminishing in the States at majors. It isn't even on the main stage of Evo this year. TL;DR KoF XIII- Cheaper, but harder to get into KI- A bit more expensive if you don't have Xbone, but easier to get into Both are equally fun once you understand the combat system
Ok, let me rephrase what I mean. I did say outside the mind games in most fighting games, KoF is harder. Meaning that execution with KoF is much harder than KI. The combo system is meant to be easy for anyone to pick up (outside of using manuals) but deep enough to sate experienced FGC players. The mind game of KI is one of the best featured in any fighting game, but once you get a combo going in that game, it's execution is easier than KoF which features very unique inputs and charge partitioning. Some characters you need to learn these concepts just to pick them up. KI is beginner friendly. Hence easier to get into. The hard stuff comes later.
So I have a question to those who understand these fighting tournaments more than I do. Like the 'EG' in Justin Wong's name and 'RG' in the other guys, is that like a crew or something similar to OpTic and FaZe? Like a group of people representing themselves as a group?
***** You can sorta say it's a sponsor though, the Team manager is the person who pays for the players to fly to tournaments or thats what the majority of teams do (idk of any who don't). So although its not a traditional sponsor, since you are advertising there "Team" and website/fanpages they compensate you.
I just got this game because i wanted to try a different fighter im more of a KOF person but i also play MK and a little bit of SF and there is only one problem i got with KI. How do you break a combo? I always tried but cant and also how do you prevent a combo breaker? Like i feel i coulve won a lot of my matches if it wasnt for the damn combo breakers
You have to get used to knowing every character's normals. Breakers go like this; you get hit by normals in a combo that vary on strength (light, meduim, heavy). Lights are fast, mediums are meh, heavies are slow. Press the same strength button(s) the exact moment your opponent hits you with that normal. It doesnt matter which normal it is, just the same strength.
Anything is workable, but many inputs are much easier on a stick. Then beyond that, all inputs are easier and more precise on a hitbox once you get used to it.
The best player at street fighter 4 in Na uses a controller instead of fight stick. it's personal pref. Although its general said atleast street fighter wise, that controller players play completely different and are more aggressive then stick players. Not sure if same could be said about KI bcuz justin is a footsy sabre player.
Fighting game curses, or just lan event curses in general, where the finals arent as good as the matches up to that point because of a very bad stomp, it's never fun to see every game close until the last where its very one sided and one player seems to not enjoy themselves because of it. OR No fight in fighting games will ever be like the justin wong vs diago street fighter match in 04, that match is the meaning of hype and will never be topped sadly.
iiasylumii Yeah, I think that Glacius vs Sabrewulf match between Rico Suave and Justin Wong was the best match of the tournament. To see Rico Suave get beaten easily by CDjr right after that amazing fight was kind of a disappointment to the audience.
Xatu McTacoBell I don't think he would need to buy a One stick since EG has Razer for their sponsor. Heck, he even did an ad for the Razer Atrox: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BZTT00BxxsQ.html
They probably do stuff like that in the money matches that happen post tournament. I would like to see a tournament of nothing but random character selections.
Navi ivan You could say that about alot of games including the fact that street fighter 5 isnt going to be on xbox but on ps4, or the bloodbourne being on ps only also. Consoles want to be the ones to own Ip's on games that are going to be easy to get a fanbase for bcuz after all this, it's about them selling more consoles etc.
RocketMan365 Who? AcidGlow? I'm not so sure about him. I don't think anyone has seen him play against anyone "significant" (at least I haven't). Though I will admit that he has, like, no bad days when it comes to this game.
I am not that used to watch KI fights but.. that Thunder seems to have too many range on his attacks. They hit very very far compared to the others'. And the roster in this game is pretty low.
If you haven't figured out by now: It was an exploit that was patched soon after the tournament. I hear the only opportunity to break it is somewhere right on the first hit since it was registered as an opener. Damn shame, this was used to win a tournament. smdh
