@@blinblinthing exactly, before the JP nerf I could understand saying JP . Luke I can understand... but Blanka???? yes he's got cheap tools, but who else is really making it work? I don't see wolfgang or Flash pulling up trees. Nemo switched recently too, if it's so easy to win with, people would be playing him more (like Luke). I think some people either just don't like Mena, or are weebs and their fav Japanese player got their ass handed to them. This is complete domination.
Right now there is MenaRD and then there is everyone else. The last time a SF game saw this kind of dominance was when Daigo was going on his run early in SF4's life, circa 2009-2010.
MENA was on FINAL BOSS mode, and Kakeru failed MISERABLY to even get a set, this was a whoopass if I a EVER SEEN one, a statement of who is the real final boss of this game.
@@elrapido5150 apologies mate didn't mean to confuse you. I am saying by rubbing the raging bulls tummy maybe he was hoping for a free pass from Santa Clause.
Brainless people like you like to overrate MenaRD / AngryBird too much. And here you are hyping MenaRD for winning a tournament with only 10k USD LOL. this tournament is nothing. that's why tier 2 players like AngryBird / MenaRD win EVO coz nobody is trying too hard LOL. this JP has also destroyed MenaRD's blanka in the master league matches before. He just didn't play his game this time. that's all. I bet you don't even play SF6 judging by how ignorant you are about Kakeru.
I love when a single player is so good their piloting single handedly changes the discourse on a character. If Mena hadn't piloted Blanka I dont know if anyone else would have seen the level of success with that character
Mena effortlessly joins the long line of the greatest players of this great game, and goes on to surpass 90% of them. Strands tall alongside Tokido, Umehara, Snake Eyez and all the other greats,
@@superultrathanksmom3845 no im not capping bro check the actual vods haha that is the reason why kakeru kinda smile nervously and then changed emotion 180 after mena didnt flinch at all lmao
Lol if he didnt take it he would take a combo instead. And he did try and got like 40% taken from whiffing 1 throw. Menard is a demon in the corner@@ToxicPancake831
Because one wrong guess and you take damage close to three throws. They should remove throw loops in this game, its scrubby af. MenaRD said so himself.
@@skychaos87 People need to get it in their heads that "taking the throw" is not the safe option they tricked themselves into believing it its. The logic goes out the window when 80% of the damage you took the whole set was from getting thrown and you didn't do a darn thing about it the entire time.
@@HakumeiTenshi Nope, taking the throw is still safer than getting hit meaty into a full combo. You are saying this because he guessed wrong over and over. If he gets hit and take 30-50% damage you'd be saying he should have taken the throw. The problem is not about the reads, its about the damn throw loop that keeps you locked into the guessing game if you guess wrong.
@@skychaos87 What does it matter if the meaty doesn't come? You like everyone else make the same mistake of thinking that taking less damage means you're safer, when we just watched a whole demonstration on how untrue that is. "Taking the throw" is a meme that came from SFV, where defensive options were scarce. You have an abundance of drive gauge in this game, and JP in particular has a counter that activates on throws, and he only used it twice the whole set. People are so terrified of taking damage that they'd rather stay in the worst position possible in the game than attempt to get out it. Makes no sense.

You just can't against a cheap ass blanka, lvl2 destroys his entire drive bar, if he attempts to do it not only he will eat up a giant combo but will be 100% checkmate for blanka
No he is not, he just won a petty tournanment with only $10k as its prize while he got destroyed by Kakeru in gamers8 in which Kakeru won a $400k after babysitting AngryBird. You people dickriding MenaRD are just pathetic LOL.

I wonder why people overhype MenaRD / AngryBird for winning a tournament with only 10k USD as its prize lol. no body is trying so hard to win a 10k. When it comes to tournaments with > 100k prize pool, MenaRD and AngryBird always gets destroyed.
Yo.....mena only lost 1 round bro.....he's in a different level....thank you for representing our country 🇩🇴🇩🇴 and the whole Latin America to the rest of the world...Japanese players have been great for a LONG time but I think is our time. LETS GO 💪💪💪
He is not on a different level. it is just a game. There are times when kakeru doesn't play well since he is also a human. If you have followed SF6 pro scene, you must know that Kakeru has beaten MenaRD in tournaments like gamers8 in which he won $400k, a lot bigger prize than EVO. In fact Kakeru is currently the 1st ranked player in the ranked matches. MenaRD is not even close to his rank lol. Kakeru has destroyed MenaRD's blanka in the ranked match as well.
I do think Kakeru's big win will come one of these days, but right now Mena is just the protagonist of the story. It wouldn't surprise me if he also takes EVO USA.
There are going to be heavy hitters in the American EVO. Mena might win, but it's not going to be as easy as EVO Japan. Chris Wong, Uma, that one AKI player that smacked the stuffing out of Mena a couple of days ago, etc
Kakeru already had a pretty massive win at Gamers8. Where he won $400k over all the other top level players that were invited. But I expect him to make it to the next capcom cup.
Kakeru played very well throughout the top 6. While the matches weren’t one-sided, he never looked like he was in real danger before he got to the finals. Then Mena came and absolutely bodied him.
Menard is the best right now not because he won a better tournament than others, but because he is the most consistent at this, every single one of these offline world torunaments are filled with top players, usually the same faces, and resulta may vary, but he is always there, first, second third, no one is even close to the level of consistency that he has

I was watching this live and I can't believe how fast and easy it is. This is like the most 1 sided GrandFinals ever in the history of fighting game ever.
You know, being in high gold I always thought I was only getting away with spamming throws to a cornered opponent because they weren't too keen on countering it, but somehow throw loops are still meta between the best players in the world. 😂
Watching two characters sit in a corner and guess throw loops isn't good game design, it's just... game design that people accept because I'm not sure why. That was a dull final, people will remember how fast it was, and the fat guy getting a belly rub, but not the match itself, which is what i wanted to see.
@@gavinpowell4607 I thought the game was excellent. the fact of the loops could be nerfed? Yes. But he didn't even loop strictly, some were loops, other were throw mix ups, in the context that Kakeru is wary of the loops. Tick/throw is Street Fighter.
They forgot about it. It's just a match, Mena here changed the strategy after lost against Kakeru at game 8 cause parries, he knew it and just throwing loop. But let's see EVO USA
People are just being idiots and like dickriding MenaRD or AngryBird for no reason. Kakeru destroyed MenaRD's blanka a lot of times in the ranked matches. it is just a game set so there are times when Kakeru can't do his best too since he is a human. The strongest SF6 player is the one currently ranked 1 in the SF6. and it has always been Kakeru.the top 10 players in the rankings are mostly Japanese I get it why american idiots hate Japanese players so much.
GG. I wish Kakeru could have made more of match out of this but but MenaRD just gives his opponents so much to think about during those rounds. Congrats again Mena. Is Blanka S-tier?
Was this just a choke? I'm super unfamiliar with SF and honestly struggle to keep up, but this just looked like a single player game. Did the pressure get to him or is the other guy just that much better?
