Yee. I very nearly cried the first time I watched Vader’s eyes momentarily become blue, then have then turn orange again with him saying “Then you will die”
Emily Gonzalez not to mention he literally was like a father to her too. In Ahsoka’s book she’s remembering him as a parent figure which is sad because he couldn’t be there for his kids but at least he had Ahsoka.
@@avoavo2225 Have you stopped for a moment to think that while Ahsoka is awesome in her own right, that is complete and utter bullshit. The core characters upon which this saga was built upon over 40 years ago, disregarded, humiliated, portrayed as complete failures, while she gets to be Filoni's pet that outlives everyone else ? That's so fucking wrong on many levels.....
Anakin is SUCH a good teacher. Literally. When he assures Ahsoka that she made the right choice after she got rid of the parasites, his words of wisdom were nearly to the level of Yoda’s.
Anakin’s trust on Ahsoka was on another level. But he never trusted himself that way... I wish he knew how much he meant to the people who loved and trusted him, and what a great Jedi he was. If he trusted himself and his power more, he wouldn’t try to seek another way to save his loved ones. Also not just him but the Jedi and Sidious were all responsible for his fall too.
@@basak9746 they made his trust in himself even less. Anakin's biggest fear is losing people he loved. He saw that as his shortcoming and ultimately his failure.
Honestly Anakin was an amazing teacher. He loved kids and had so much real world knowledge to give and knew the right lessons to focus on. He was an amazing person. He always fought to save everyone, was confident in himself, and valued his relationship. The problem is that the Jedi Council at the time saw all of the that as an issue and were horrible teachers to him (Obi-Wan did his best but was working with a broken system). They didn’t teach him how to handle his emotions or deal with grief or balance being a jedi and human. They just wanted him to forgo all attachments and anything that might ever lead to the darkside (without realizing that neither Darkside or Lightside are in of itself bad. They are both necessary and the force. Being able to properly engage with and interact with them without completely falling prey to either is whats needed). Not to mention Anakin was the chosen one and meant to be balance. He SHOULD have had knowledge in both sides of the force. Anakin would have made a God Tier Grey Jedi or Sith. It’s just that everyone tugged him to an absolute that he fell so tragically.
I love how vader has a moment of hesitation before he says "then you will die." She was the only relationship left from Anakin Skywalker. Even as a "seasoned" vader, he still offered her mercy, then had to think about killing her. Really shows how powerful their relationship was.
What if Vader saying “you will die” was a warning, not a threat. Maybe it was Anakin buried deep inside trying to get her to leave, he didn’t wanna kill her
Dave Filoni and George Lucas said in an interview today that the animation evolved because they transitioned from hand drawings to using computers while saving money so they can use it where it's most important.
@@loka-chan6695 I think that's because TCW had a bigger budget than Rebels. Also, Rebels ended when it was starting to reach its full potential. This was due to TCW starting up again so to prevent another TCW situation, Dave Filoni concluded Rebels with a cliffhanger to leave room for more storytelling while still feeling like a conclusion to the story.
@@ahsoka5216 let's not forget that rebels, rogue one, the OT is basically useless now since everything they worked hard on making was destroyed in 3 seconds by JJ Abrams
I think every young Jedi is at the beginning annoying XD : Luke : ohhhhh, but I want to go to Toshee Station to buy my power converters 😩 Ezra: you always change the subject when I am right 😡
When Ashoka said Anakin, Vader didn't denied like he always does instead he stayed silence, Maybe at that time Anakin was in control for 2-3 seconds before his angry and hate kick in again
Dave did state that when he was struck, there was like a moment of clarity, like a sudden shock that roused Anakin, and he started to see Ahsoka. But as he started to really let it sink in that he was seeing Ahsoka, he retreated back, because all the memories of how Ahsoka was like another failure for him, Vader took over once more, filled with hatred for more of Anakin's failures.
Curious: at 1:00 when Baris was wanting Ahsoka to kill her. I wonder how things would have played out. There would have been no Temple bombing. Ahsoka would still be in the Jedi Order at the end. Wonder what else would have happened.
also if ahsoka told the council about maul, they would have put two and two together about sidious. the writers basically dangle these butterfly effect scenarios above our heads just to show what could have been and make it hurt even more 🙃
No, likely, had Ahsoka remained in the corrupt Council, Anakin would have stilled turned and Ahsoka would have been killed. Palpatine would have likely removed Ahsoka one way or another. After all, Palpatine sent Obi-wan to take Grievous, which separated Anakin from Obi-wan. And Ahsoka telling them about what Maul said wouldn't mean a damn thing. Because Palpatine would have labeled the Jedi as traitors. Palpatine had ALL the bases covered, and the Jedi at that point was too late in being able to stop anything.
@@0axis771 I don't think so. Anakin was always a bit reserved about trusting the council, but them blindly removing Ahsoka from the order was probably the biggest reason why he stopped trusting them completely, and most likely the reason why he got so angry at them after he was not granted the rank of master. Had they investigated Ahsoka's case more and not just blindly threw her out, Anakin wouldn't have turned. In my opinion atleast.
They absolutely nailed ahsoka’s character development. Character development like this is what makes people fall in love with series and films! Unfortunately they did not know what character development meant when making the sequels because TLJ shit on every character in every possible way
Peter Not Peter mate fair play if you liked kylo rens character but if you look at the last Jedi, they killed snoke which left ren as the main villain, but he was too weak of a character to have as a main villain which is why they were forced to do something daft like bringing palpatine back, okay fair enough he went from being a bad guy to a good guy but that’s not the sort of character development I’m talking about, and they don’t really explain in enough detail in my opinion why he changed
“Do you know what I have become?” Say what you will about Rebels. That one line broke my heart the first time I heard it. And it still does whenever I watch the scene again.
5:23 Here's a music moment for you. Here, you can hear Ahsoka's theme, previously played up with a choir at the beginning of the fight. There it was epic and dramatic, absolutely sprawling with a full orchestra. Here, with Ahsoka completely exposed to her emotions, the music is stripped down to a single instrument battling against the tension building from the higher strings, playing something out of a horror movie. She's not that strong, righteous warrior anymore, but a regretful friend flooding with horror, completely taken aback.
The sweetest, saddest thing about their relationship is the way Anakin instilled all of his best traits in Ahsoka, and few of his worst ones. He fulfilled his role as mentor perfectly, raising her to be the best version of himself. In a sad way, adult Ahsoka is a not only a look at what Anakin himself might have become had he not turned, but their relationship is a look at what he might have had as a father with Luke and Leia as well.
As a kid watching the early Clone Wars, I would often forget that everything would eventually end in tragedy. That's how good the writing of this show was. Best show ever made.
3:50 Yooooo I never noticed that Anakin's eyes in this scene look yellow when he's yelling, but then as he steps into the light they turn blue again as his voice settles.
@@anakinskywalker6946 (Seeing that this guy and the "Anakin Skywalker" who made the original comment are different accounts) This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them!
I want this series so bad! Like if Ahsoka rejoined the Order, or she had that last convo w/ Anakin and told him about what Maul said, or even if he as Vader did ANYTHING but fight her (talk, ask her to kill him so he can’t hurt others, etc.) I just need to see what happened if the Jedi Council didn’t fuck EVERYTHING up
This aired a year before my sisters death when I was 8, and grew with me. I turned 20 this year and now clone wars is over. Which means my childhood is now over. I’ve been sobbing about it for three days. It wasn’t just their arc and Rex’s arc, it was our boy’s arcs. Good soldiers following orders who deserved better
The Clone Wars were what introduced me to Star Wars, and these two were my favorite characters in the show. Now a full decade later, knowing full well what happens to them later in the timeline, it hurts to watch.
@@batspam1013 I think it's the fellowship theme from Lord of the Rings. But it comes up so often in the movies that I don't know what exact variation of it.
Disney: We need a strong female character that can be an inspiration to many young girls. Ashoka: Hello there Disney: Who could we have? We've had Rey but that didn't go so well. Ashoka: HELLO??? Disney: Come on, who could we have? Ashoka: Oi, LOOK HERE YOU BLIND IDIOTS, I HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE 2008 AND MY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT HAS GROWN TO BE LOVED BY EVERYBODY AND I'M A STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER, THE FIRST NAME THAT COMES TO MANY PEOPLE'S MINDS Disney: Nope, haven't got an idea
Umm they are aware of Ahsoka. She was in the Mandalorian and she's getting her own spinoff series and was lead in Star Wars Rebels. I wouldn't exactly say that Disney is ignoring her. But whatever.
Leia, Padme, Mon Mothra, Aayla, Shaak Ti, Luminara, Ventress (in a villanous later anti hero way), etc. Heck, they could still create new ones as well, just make it good, and focus on storytelling and actual character.
Ahsoka and Anakin are two of my favorite Star Wars characters. It made me so happy to see how far they came. Then it all went down hill and I'll probably never get over that.
The reason why we love Ahsoka is because we saw her grow up. From the young reckless and inexperience girl to the wise and powerful master she became. It's like watching our own daughter become something amazing. We can't help but feel proud.
3:14 I’ve always loved this scene moment so much because the animators and voice actors conveyed Anakin and Ahsoka’s emotions so well. You can just hear the conflict and utter fear in Ahsoka’s voice. Meanwhile, Anakin’s voice conveys his desperation for Ahsoka to come back with him. And his face is so sincere but scared the whole scene as well, especially when he says, “I would never let anyone hurt you, Ahsoka, _never_.” I feel like this moment, and this entire episode in general, is incredibly underrated.
Wow I never noticed the similarities between the scene of anakin trying to convince ashoka not to escape and the scene when ashoka tells anakin shes not leaving him
Bittersweet memories of better days gone by... perfect background music, btw... made me feel the same kind of loss for Anakin, as Obi wan.. what a tragedy for Ahsoka, Padme and those others, who knew and loved him. Great characters that I feel I somehow knew... :(
"Letting go of our attachments is a difficult struggle for all of us" This line hurts the most since remembering rebles with Ashoka Vs Vader. Including when Anakin said "I would never let anyone hurt you Ashoka".
Dang, when she left, that hurt. Back then, when I watched it live for the first time, there was no rebels, no season 7. Ahsoka Tano was gone... Then I saw rebels, and that was friggin amazing to have her and rex back And season 7 sewed it all together neatly. It's funny how this primarily annoying character slowly earned her stay in the hearts of many Star Wars fans, going from reckless padawan, then gaining experience as the years went on, to defeating a former Sith Lord with the skill of a Jedi Knight, and finally battling her old master to near death as a master of the force. She earned it. They both did.
I just realised that the music playing in the background when Darth Vader says Ahsoka's name and she promises not to leave him is the same music that played when he accepted her as his padawan in the clone wars movie but its distorted and haunted and now my heart has been shattered into so many pieces I can't
Anakin's relationship with Ahsoka is among the most touching and tragic relationships in all of Star Wars. On par with his and Obi-wan's, and certainly more than his and Padme's. I hope Ahsoka got to meet Luke and Leia sometime, most likely after the fall of the Empire.
Xenon that would literally break the entire continuity If Anakin loves padme so much that he’ll murder kids and all his friends, then he’s not gonna have affairs
In the deep dark places of the internet, people will ship anything. I'm sure there are those that would ship Jabba the Hutt and R2D2 or Chewbacca and Darth Maul... people are just weird.
That was the original plan. I think Anakin would die on the Temple steps or defending Jedi in the Temple by Vader if that was the case. Ahsoka may have been Vader's Padawan instead though.
@@golden5186 Don't need to. It's the same garbage every other person says to justify anakin's actions as vader. Anakin was not possessed by a spirit or swapped minds with anyone or a clone of himself. That was the genuine article in a time of rage, depression, loneliness, betrayal, vengeance, regret, fear and self hate attacking people throughout the galaxy to ignore his past. By your logic batman and bruce wayne aren't the same person because he says batman is how he really is while bruce wayne is just a facade.
What an amazing character ashoka is still my favourite character to date. Her development was done right and can't wait to see more of her in the future
You just had to make me cry did you ? I mean I basically grew up with Anakin and ahsoka I am obsessed with ahsoka and my heart is broken because of what happened with them 😭😭😭😭😭
I kinda hope they don't make a show about Ahsoka... I feel like it's just another opportunity for disaster to strike. And plus Ahsoka's character development is complete. There's not much to add. Don't get me wrong, Ahsoka is amazing. She's one of my favorite characters in Star Wars. Just hope they don't mess her up like they did to some other characters
