My favourite part of weird muppet Trivia, is that according to Muppets Tonight. Statler and Waldorf are part of Fozzies act. Statler, Waldorf, and Fozzie all go "on record" saying that Fozzie pays the two former to heckle him because it makes the bit funnier.
@@JamestheRabbitI love his hat too, but for some reason I like the hat he wore in Season 1 and early Season 2. It was larger, and the flaps are folded up in front to make it look comedic.

What I love most about the muppet evolution videos is also seeing the growth in the character themself and how that change causes a change in the appearance of the character itself. Amazing video as always Dan! Whenever you release a video it always brightens my day! (Also the fozzie bear head on the actual bear body honestly scared me a little at first and I love it)
That one would be interesting because he was only ever used in one major role in the original series, was just this cult character because of it for years, and only recently got rediscovered and given a major role since the 2011 Muppet movie. A character that was barely utilized now finally given a spotlight.
I would love to see a history of the Dr. Teeth, Animal, & the rest of the Electric Mayhem. Maybe even slip a few mentions of some of the other major Muppet bands that have come & gone, like the ones created for Muppets Tonight & the Inner Tube pilot.
I was just watching The Muppet show yesterday (currently making my way through it for the first time), and bought a Kermit Loungefly bag so the timing of this video is perfect for my Muppet fever 😁
Also, in A Muppet Christmas Carol, all the costumes the muppets wear are historically accurate, and the costume team made them in like, 2 weeks. Absolutely the best, most accurate Victorian costumes and they were worn by muppets.
What I really appreciate about A Muppet Christmas Carol’s costumes is that not all the characters’ costumes are up to the trends of that moment. Like Mrs. Cratchett’s dress is clearly made of nice fabric but the style is years out of date, showing that she hasn’t bought a new “church best” dress in a while. It’s great world building.
I love bears, all bears, but Fozzie bear is such a great standout character! He is such a truly sweet soul who really only just wants to make people laugh! He is such a wonderful character! I love to watch him with my teddy bears too! Thank you very much for sharing this video with us! Your laughter always makes me smile! Keep up the great work, Dan Waka waka!
This might be kinda random but it would be so cool to see you do a costume evolution on three characters from a preschool band called the wiggles,the characters being Dorothy The Dinosaur , wags the dog , and Henry The octopus.
Fozzie’s my favorite Muppet. 😊 And I’m with you Dan, I love it when the Muppets do adaptations. I’m still holding out for them to make Muppet Dracula, with Fozzie playing Quincy Morris (a cowboy callback to his Kid Fozzie roots!).
this, the tribute hour, and segments of the celebration of life are the most Muppets things i have watched since Henson died. we're talking an adult who would watch _Sesame Street_ before she went to work; not because she had children/a child, but because she enjoyed the show.
I'm not sure what's more unsettling, Hatbox Ghost Fozzie with teeth or that Fozzie headed Kermit monstrosity behind you 😂 The clip of Fozzie & Ozzy Osbourne was weird but funny to see.
11:50 - Yeah, the Muppet Babies puppets are MASSIVE; I had the pleasure of seeing two of them at a traveling Jim Henson exhibit (and the displeasure of being the only person at that exhibit who knew what The Dark Crystal was, but that's another story) and they were bigger than some of the regular puppets on exhibit! Great video as always; loved the looks at some of the more obscure Muppet stuff like the tour and the Play-Along Video (also minor issue, but when talking about the 1984-1988 period, you use footage from The Great Muppet Caper, which actually came out in 1981. Again, very minor and someone's probably pointed it out, but I just wanted to let you know just in case!).
Four things: The Studebaker Museum has had Fozzie's Studebaker for decades by this point, they just recently started crowdfunding the restoration because I guess the donation box they had in front of it when I was there wasn't raking in the dough. Eric took over Fozzie and Piggy in 2001, which was three years before the Disney sale, because Frank basically left to focus on his directing career. Cowardly Lion Fozzie was first seen in the "The Great Muppet Caper" promotional special/unofficial "Muppet Show" series finale "The Muppets Go to the Movies". And fluffy Fozzie was built for the 2011 movie "The Muppets", not the 2015 series "the muppets.", though I can see where one could get confused.
Fun Fact in the 80's to the early 90's France had a political parody of the Muppet Show called the Le Bébête Show and Fozzie Bear had a parody in the former French Prime Minister Raymond Barre whom was PM from 76-81 he appeared on the show as Brazzie.
17:17 Actually, Muppet Babies appeared in the Disney Junior on Tour show. I'm not sure if they are included in Costume Palooza. Sadly, Disney didn't make walk arounds of the characters, they appear on the TV.
Many of the materials that are used to make the puppets are no longer made for various reasons. Which is why Fozzie's fur looks weird and why they've not updated Gonzo. The rats are used sparingly now because of it.

Fantastic evolution as always, Dan. I always like Fozzie's looks from the Muppet Movie and the 90's onwards. ^^ One thing I should point out is that Fozzie also dressed as the cowardly lion back in "The Muppets Go To The Movies."
Actually Ma Bear appeared as early as in season 2, in the Cleo Lane episode, although she didn't spoke in that episode beside from snoring as she fell asleep at the very end.

I knew about the mechanisms in his cheeks (though I didn't knew they were balloons) and his ears but I had no idea about the eyebrows, I never noticed it at all but then again as you point out, Dan, it is noticable because he most of the time wore his hat. I didn't even notice that his eyebrows moved in that scene until now.
Actually, your first true peek at LION Fozzie came from The Muppets' first attempt at _The Wizard of Oz_ (casting Miss Piggy as Dorothy Gale, Miss Piggy's dog Froufou as Toto, Scooter instead of Kermit as the Scarecrow, Gonzo as the Tin-Thing, Fozzie as the Cowardly Lion, etc.) in "The Muppets Go To The Movies".

My favorite moment from Fozzie Bear is when he opened up the show with his really bad jokes during the first season of The Muppet Show. Too bad that it couldn’t continue to be that way during the last four seasons. It would’ve been nice if it did😔
Well actually Fozzie's lion counterpart actually appeared in a Tv special called The Muppets Go to the Movies in 1981, BEFORE the interaction VHS of Laugh with Fozzie.
My theory is that Ma Bear sent Statler and Waldorf to the Muppet Theatre to build Fozzie’s self-esteem, so that he’ll stop caring about what others think. Or she’s just a sadistic bear.
I would love to see a Muppet Distory on Scooter! I think there's something interesting about the character being Kermit's gopher, but also the nephew of the theater owner that The Muppet Show was held in, so I always wondered why he never tried using the leverage to make Kermit give him more stage time or the lead roles in certain skits. Also, Skeeter has been baffling me for the last three decades and I need to know where the idea for a Female Scooter came from and why it was specifically used for the Muppet Babies cartoon!! Besides all that, I think there's something wholesome about Scooter having the personality of a young Richard Hunt when he first started working with Jim Henson! Sometimes it feels like Hunt gets overlooked in the grand pantheon of Muppet performers. Everyone knows Jim, Frank, Dave, and Steve - though maybe not remembered as fondly anymore, Kevin Clash and Carrol Spinney from their respective documentaries, as well as Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobsen... but Richard never seems to get mentioned much. Heck, not many people remember that Hunt passed away two years after Jim, due to AIDs related complications! I can only imagine how devastating that must've been for the Muppet Crew, as they would have still been grieving the loss of Jim only to then lose a friend and brother in Richard. The guy was even the first gay puppeteer to work for Jim Henson! (There was a book being written about Hunt, I don't know if it was officially published, but it was going to be titled something like "The Rainbow Connection - The Story of Richard Hunt, The First Gay Muppeteer".) Richard Hunt definitely deserves an episode all his own! In fact, I would love to see videos on the more obscure/forgotten members of The Jim Henson Crew, like Don Sallin, Kermit Love, Franz Fazakas, and Jerry Juhl!
the reason Skeeter was made was because they needed another girl that wasn't overly feminine, and then they pretty much just thought that pairing an active tomboy with a skittish smart boy was cute
