I have the Evolution saw and am very pleased with it having used it for a number of projects. Regarding the fence, I find this extremely quick to reposition over large distances and because it clamps at the far end in addition to the near end, it shows no sign of deflection or misalignment when exposed to side forces. The reasons I chose it over any other are 1. It’s ability to cut metal as well as wood. I use a blade designed for wood when cutting such materials as this gives a much cleaner cut that the blade for metal. 2. It’s portability. Being on wheels and so easy to unfold and fold up after use were key factors for me as I bought it initially for a job on a remote site so it was easy to transport it in my car and set up on site. Since then, I’ve found it equally quick and convenient for storing in my garage which is my workshop, and bringing it back into use. A saw on a frame would be far less convenient for me.

Hi Mike thank you for taking the time to make this video, I built my Rage yesterday it was a breeze following your video whilst building up a got success 😊 what I would like to say is the right panel doesn’t come loose, the blade is already attached, the front measure can’t be bumped, the fence locks absolutely solid and square straight out of the box, there is a couple of slightly misaligned holes for the bolts but only 2 and could marry them up with arm strength. So I’m guessing they may have taken note of your review and spent the time to correct it all. Once I’ve used it for a while I will let you know what I think. Thanks again Big Mike.

Your review is on point. The fence is a major setback for this saw. If we're rack and pinion like the Skil, it would be a great table saw. I've ripped out my fence and attempted to create something better. It's still a work in progress.

Blade/assembly wandering destroyed all of the fun. Despite meticulous adjustments over 6 weeks, I still get about 1mm off on 600mm. Barely noticeable, but I CAN SEE THAT on my kitchen furniture. Eventually, I just bought Makita DSP600Z with the tracks. Now the cut line is precisely where I see it.

My daily driver table saw is a 725T2, but I want to get a smaller one for dedicated 1/2" dado use so I can stop switching blades. Something that folds up would be nice. I was thinking the DeWalt until I saw this video... now I'm thinking the DeWalt. :) That thing looks like a great option for job site rough cuts and the like for construction, or for pinewood derby stuff, but I just don't see that fence being even remotely accurate after a handful of cuts, and I get that throat plate works about as well as a trampoline for keeping the material flat and straight between the blade and fence. I'll follow your adventures with this thing with interest.

I had a similar problem with assembly with holes not lining up. My work around was to undo all of the bolts until loose but just biting the threads. That gave me enough wiggle room to seat all the bolts. I wish I had seen your video (and Evolution’s assembly video) before I started to put it together. I just used the instruction book which was appallingly written and illustrated. The biggest issue I have with this saw is that it doesn’t have an emergency safety power off. Fortunately I found an etsy seller who 3D prints them for £12 plus shipping. Shame on Revolution for not adding that to the tablesaw, probably the most dangerous tool in a shop. I feel much safer knowing I can now just use my knee in my he general direction of the power switch to shut it down.
@ProjectsForAllReviews
@ProjectsForAllReviews Год назад
I agree John. You never see saws without the off button paddle. I figured it was a European think but what do I know. My buddy has the Evo track saw and noted there’s no safety on that either. Thanks for watching!
@johnbrewer318
@johnbrewer318 Год назад
@@ProjectsForAllReviews The interesting thing is dado blades are banned Europe-wide for safety reasons because a riving knife can't be fitted to a dado stack. It should be a legal requirement that emergency stop paddles are fitted.

Awesome video man, looks pretty cool. I'd say so far without seeing it perform, the build quality is considerably sub-par in relation to the Skil for the same price, the fence worries me on that saw. The Skil rack and pinion is rock solid. The dust collection looks really cool let's see how it works. Interesting saw I have to say, letter rip let's see how she cuts!

I wonder if the reason that they suggest using the fence extension all the time (20:10) is that the fence isn't that well made, and the extension is straighter! I had to dismantle my fence and file the aluminium profile down to fit the end locking piece: it is fine now. You need to make sure that you snug the front of the fence to the rail before tightening it down to make sure it is parallel to the slots. How well-fitting was your sliding mitre carriage? I found that there was a lot of play in mine, so I don't really use it. A shame, because it is a nice feature. Despite these whinges, I love my Rage-5S and use it a lot!
@ProjectsForAllReviews

It’s possible Mike because the main fence is pretty thin aluminum. There is some runout on that sliding panel but didn’t seem like too much. I should measure it since I still have the saw. Thanks for watching!

I’m sure others have said, their’s nothing wrong with the original frame, ou commuted the ultimate sin of locking right the nuts and bolts on the other side, keep all the fasteners hand tight until you have everything assembled, then you tighten everything off. This one seems to have some great features for the price, but the reviews on it are really rough. The lack of available blades with a 1" arbor is what really turned me off on it. If I can't get a fine cut Diablo blade for it, I don't want it. Looking at all the portable work site saws over the past few months, I have a raggedly old Taskforce table saw that I think I will just stick with until I have room for the Delta Contractor's saw. I just don't think any of the others will represent a big enough upgrade. I have to use a framing square to get the fence straight, but it's not the end of the world.
@ProjectsForAllReviews

I haven’t gotten much past what you see in the vid on this one. It takes both a 1 inch and a 5/8 blade but looks like no dado. 2-3 weeks I’ll have the full review out and we’ll see if it’s any good. Hey whatsup man, I had a thought. I been talking to you about that Skil table saw the last month or so, got an idea. What about like a budget table saw battle? I thought about the Hercules table saw from harbor freight, it has a rack and pinion fence, powerful motor, and a slightly higher rip capacity than the Skil, although it's $50 more (who cares, just sayin). I've never used the Hercules but there's a lot of folks who say it's as good or nearly as good as the DeWalt. What do you think, budget battle for the crown of best budget table saw?
