green picture from the camera is typical when the color decoding is not working properly or if the beam current is not set correctly. the tube has stripe filters on the surface and those will give the color info. If the info from the stripe filters can not be read or decoded, the picture gets green.

Interesting, thanks. Maybe it is from the caps going bad, rather than the tube.

@@Elecami Yes, after 40 years, that can well be. Just remind that anything wrong in the color decoding circuit, starting from the tube will turn the image into greenish. Almost 40 years ago, I serviced a lot of the M1/M3 units at Panasonic. At that time, capacitors where not yet the issue 🙂. The last one that ever came in , I remember, was in 1998. As it happened frequently, somebody was tempted to try all potmeters, and there are many, many trimmers in the camera section. Well, it is all history now, except the fact that I still work for that company based in Osaka..

On mine the capstan motor is turning the main pulley too slowly using the main capstan belt, even after I installed a new belt. The pulley isn't turning fast enough to interact with the gears for the reels. So the tape doesn't move and it goes into auto shut down. Any ideas? The gears won't turn using the belt basically. I can manually do it with my finger but something's wrong with the pulley or gears.

if capstan is running at the correct speed, then I suspect something is wrong with the gears between the supply and take-up reels. In play mode some slips is expected because the speed of the take-up changes depending on how far through the tape is. Maybe it is slipping too much. You probably need to get it into play mode without a tape in there and also with the cassette loading mechanism removed to investigate what is happening.

@@Elecami It's a brand new belt so it shouldn't be slipping. It will fast forward and fast rewind tapes but not play/record. The capstan motor is running fine and the belt rotates the main pulley but it won't make the drive gear engage with the clutches for the reels. So the reels don't spin and it goes into shutdown.

We've got the AG-150 (Ind.) and PV-200/210 (Consu.) in NA. All three copies of my PV-2xx work great but the AG-150 has this bizarre loading mechanism that used gears inside and outside of the cassette holder. There was a Sony Blank inside and I tore it apart to try and free the mechanism to no avail. Into the bin, both of them went.

Is the AG-150 different inside to what I have in the NV-M3?

@@Elecami Nope! That's the same gear mech on the loading door that I couldn't get moving. Looks like the M3 might be the PAL version of the AG-150.

You've got to turn the loading gear to the eject position from the other side of the mechanism. The gears on the door are for the soft eject. The M3 I have is PAL, but there is also an M3 in Japan, NTSC but with some other differences that we'll explore in a future video.

Not sure. Probably could be a range of issues. Like dew sensor, mechanical issue, belt slipping. Not power on: Check the fuses in the camera. After that you would have to take measurements to determine the issue.

Could you explain how to properly use the line adaptor for the M3? (PV200D in NA, which is what i have.) i have the line adaptor you pictured here but i cannot figure out how to use it properly. The manual says to hit the play button while keeping the rec/play button pressed (page 17 of M3 manual). The adaptor i have is an ntsc model (if that effects the adaptor at all?), but then i follow that instruction exactly and it doesnt do anything

When you connect the line adapter it will switch the recording input of the VCR to the Video input instead of the camera. You can enter record mode by pressing record in the same way you would when recording from the camera. If the camera does not turn off when you connect the line adapter, there must be an issue with it.

@@Elecami it does turn off when i plug it in, and turns on with the ac adaptor plugged to the line adaptor, recording just records the camera feed instead of the video input

@@NearObsolete Maybe something wrong with the connector? I think there is a pin linked by the Line Adapter to signal to the camera to switch modes. Checking the service manual, the Line Adapter pulls pin 4 AUX to ground to signal to switch to line in mode.

Connected to the Video Output socket on the AC adapter.

Hello sir, i got M3 and M5 and the M5 got damage head reader, if i replace the head from M3 to M5 it will work?? Is it the same

It might work. But may take some work to get the pins lined up. I can't remember if the M5 has more video heads?

@@Elecami i want to build a special tool i will.make it at home a tool wich gonna help me to extract the mirror disk the big one but first i must make sure thst the pins are total desoldering its a very sensitive proces and work
