Allie i love you, but at least have on a convert that represents the doctrine of Catholic church accuratly…not misunderstandings. I converted to the Catholic church and he just isn't explaining things correctly. I see why he left, if he thinks all these things. the Catechism will show how many he misquoted. Many prayers for you both. I also apologize when Catholics have done the same to protestants.
@michelleschroeder9015 i read the comments here and i see a lot of people saying "mike gendron doesn't speak on the catholic faith truly" and no ones corrects him. all i see is he is wrong, he is a liar. If that is the case, lets see proof rather than just blank statements saying he is wrong and not backing it up with evidence, because he is speaking on roman catholicism exactly for what it is Lets go over some things that he talks about: 1. Roman Catholicism teaches a works based salvation - below is just one paragraph that says we must obtain salvation with faith + works Paragraph 2068 from the Catholic Catechism 2068 The Council of Trent teaches that the Ten Commandments are obligatory for Christians and that the justified man is still bound to keep them;28 the Second Vatican Council confirms: "The bishops, successors of the apostles, receive from the Lord ... the mission of teaching all peoples, and of preaching the Gospel to every creature, so that all men may attain salvation through faith, Baptism and the observance of the Commandments." 2. Catholics are utterly dependent on their priests (here are just a few such as baptism and penance, of course the mass is needed to be done by a priest, anointing of the sick can only be done by priests or bishops) so mike is right about this Paragraph 1256 from the catholic catechism for baptism - this also says you need to be baptized for salvation (another work) 1256 The ordinary ministers of Baptism are the bishop and priest and, in the Latin Church, also the deacon.57 In case of necessity, anyone, even a non- baptized person, with the required intention, can baptize , by using the Trinitarian baptismal formula. The intention required is to will to do what the Church does when she baptizes. The Church finds the reason for this possibility in the universal saving will of God and the necessity of Baptism for salvation. Paragraph 1495 from the catholic catechism for penance 1495 Only priests who have received the faculty of absolving from the authority of the Church can forgive sins in the name of Christ. Paragraph 1530 on anointing of the sick 1530 Only priests (presbyters and bishops) can give the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, using oil blessed by the bishop, or if necessary by the celebrating presbyter himself. 3. Indulgences to get people out of purgatory - mike was right about this again Paragraph 1498 from the Catholic Catechism 1498 Through indulgences the faithful can obtain the remission of temporal punishment resulting from sin for themselves and also for the souls in Purgatory. 4. Roman catholics don't have assurance of eternal life - mike is right about this again (you'll only know when you die) Paragraph 1022 from the Catholic Catechism 1022 Each man receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the very moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers his life to Christ: either entrance into the blessedness of heaven - through a purification, or immediately,- or immediate and everlasting damnation 5. apostolic succession till the end of time through bishops - mike again was right about this Paragraph 77 from the Catholic Catechism 77 "In order that the full and living Gospel might always be preserved in the Church the apostles left bishops as their successors. They gave them their own position of teaching authority."35 Indeed, "the apostolic preaching, which is expressed in a special way in the inspired books, was to be preserved in a continuous line of succession until the end of time." 6. Mary was the cause of salvation for herself, co-mediator, and was sinless - mike again was right about this Paragraph 493, 494, 969 from the Catholic Catechism 493 By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long. 494 As St. Irenaeus says, "Being obedient she became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race." 969 Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . ... Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix." 7. that when the priest reaches up and calls Jesus down from heaven during consecration the wafer becomes the body and blood of christ and that it forgives our venial sins - mike is right about this again Paragraph 1413, 1416 1413 By the consecration the transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ is brought about. Under the consecrated species of bread and wine Christ himself, living and glorious, is present in a true, real, and substantial manner: his Body and his Blood, with his soul and his divinity (cf. Council of Trent: DS 1640; 1651). 1416 Communion with the Body and Blood of Christ increases the communicant's union with the Lord, forgives his venial sins, and preserves him from grave sins. Since receiving this sacrament strengthens the bonds of charity between the communicant and Christ, it also reinforces the unity of the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ. so to conclude, mike was right about everything, he speaks on catholicism accurately by also me including what the Catholic Cathecism says on each issue Mike brought up So please stop accusing him of lying and being false without backing it up Catholicism is false, teaches a different gospel and leads people to hell and ill leave a few bible verse references so when people reply ill have evidence for that 1. Jesus purifies us from all sins - so no need for purgatory 1 John 1:7 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 2. we are saved by faith apart from the law - so we aren't obligated to keep the commandments to obtain salvation Romans 3:28 28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. 3. Salvation cannot be lost - so no mortal sin or venial sin will take us away from grace Hebrews 10:14 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. 4. No more need for a priesthood - jesus is our one and only high priest and we are told to come to him with confidence Hebrews 4:14-16 14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
I want to start a petition for Allie Beth to invite Dr. Scott Hahn to share his testimony and defend our Catholic faith! Anyone that would like Dr. Hahn to be invited to defend our faith please put it in the comments. Allie, please invite Dr. Scott Hahn!
She would never, because after this interview, I think it's apparent that her goal is not seeking the truth, it's painting Catholicism in the worst possible light.
Why bring an ex-Catholic to discuss Catholicism? He clearly was poorly catechized. You should bring more Catholics to explain Catholicism and debate/discuss with them on these points.
You make no sense . To challenge or debate catholic doctrine you clearly need a non catholic. Catholics hide the history and doctrine of their church or ignore it. So catholics are the least knowledgeable about this
I’ve never been closer to the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit, Catholic now for 3+ years. Best decision I ever made!!!!! It is the fullness of the Christian faith, it is the Church our Lord Jesus left us. It’s not perfect, as it is full of sinners like me and all of us, but it is the ONE Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and I couldn’t be happier being a part of the full body of Christ. Glory to Jesus Christ ❤️🔥
Im sorry to hear that Its definitely the worst decision anyone can make to join a cult Catholicism is beyond unbiblical creating traditions which Christ was against They Deny his all sufficiency with sacraments and purgatory Pray to dead saints which is forbidden in Deuteronomy Call the pope holy father When Christ said don't call anyone father expect your father in heaven Still have priests when Christ abolished it as per book of Hebrews Also the pope isn't the vicar of Christ the Holy Spirit is according to the gospel of John I can keep going But if you really love Christ you'll follow the true Christ who promises us eternal life based on believing in him and having him as our Lord ans Savior Not a fake Jesus that the Catholic Church created to put their interpretations and traditions over Scripture and to use His Name in vain to keep people dependent on their religion, only offering conditio nal life based on your works It's disgusting
Former Presbyterian here. Ive never felt more close to Jesus than after ive become catholic. People really need to educate themselves about what the church teaches before criticizing it. Im home now and I'm never looking back.
Allie, this man has been shown to make countless false statements about the Catholic Church, and basic facts of history (that you do not need to be Catholic or Protestant to acknowledge). I am a convert from protestantism. I came into the Catholic Church at age 31. This guy’s experience is completely foreign to anything I’ve experienced or even heard, and I attend a very traditional parish that celebrates the Latin Mass.
It’s a shame that Allie doesn’t seem to understand the inaccuracies that this man continually makes of the Catholic Church. He has been corrected many times by Catholic apologists and yet continues to use evangelical platforms to spread the same misinformation to millions of Christians. I wish Allie would have done some research of this man before giving him air time. But, the sad reality is that she probably agrees with much of what he had to say.

@@sorrowinchrist3387why would you seek out a Protestant to learn what the Catholic church teaches? Only if you don’t want to know the truth. James White has been corrected for misrepresenting the Church too.

Check out his obliterations of James White via his RU-vid channel "How to be Christian."
Praise God to him be the glory you have a professed relationship with Jesus and can say that you know Christ , that is all a work of God alone despite of any church and the same for me and any other believer, With so many years and being seasoned, would you mind if I ask you a few questions?
Respectfully, Mike’s point is that if you are subscribing to Catholic doctrine, your relationship is with a different (ie, not all-sufficient) Jesus than what the Bible portrays, so this doesn’t disprove his thesis.
@@scp025 Well Mike is wrong. 2000 years of Catholic people knowing and loving Jesus Christ, following His ways and professing and spreading the one true Faith, proves Mike is wrong.
I was a Southern Baptist for 40 years before I converted to Catholicism. I was searching for the one, true, universal, and apostolic church commissioned by Christ and found it. Having seen both sides of the coin, when I hear Mike Gendron talk about the “Roman Catholic Church” - first off all, Catholics in America just don’t use that term, we’re just Catholics. That’s a dead giveaway right there that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. At least interview someone that actually knows the faith. We have a saying in Catholicism and it holds true - “Strong Protestants make good Catholics, weak Catholics make good Protestants.” If you look at all the scholarly men and women that have left Protestantism for Catholicism, the list is quite long - Jimmy Akin, Peter Kreeft, Scott Hahn, Steve Ray, John Bergsma, Keith Nester, Matt Swaim, Ken Hensley, Kenny Burchard, oh and most recently - Candace Owens. What you don’t see is conversions going the other way; you don’t have very well catechized Priests, Deacons, Nuns, and Theologians that jump ship to be Protestant.
So very true. It makes me sad to hear so many “ex-Catholics”. They excuse spiritual laziness for bad theology. They don’t understand the sin they’ve incurred by turning their backs on the Church.
Roman Catholic is used by protestantism and it was derived from the bigoted term romanist. It's the Catholic Church either Roman rite or one of the many eastern rites....
@@KSTrekker Roman Catholic is intended to be a slur - like Papist or Romanist. I just shrug and chuckle when Protestants intend to insult. To your point though, shows he has no clue what he is talking about because the Catholic Church is much larger than just the Roman rite. Ignorance and bias just shining through.
@@Normicgander FWIW, the Romanness of the Catholic Church is something that I love about it. The city that gave the crown of martyrdom to Sts. Peter and Paul and the countless tens of thousands of Roman Martyrs, the seat of the Popes and home of the greatest, most glorious holy temples of the living God ever constructed this side of Heaven. While a lot of Protestants now seem to want to run away from the term "Protestant", their applying the qualifier "Roman" to us, is an innovation I can get behind.
Allie, I encourage you to speak with Scott Hahn. He was a Protestant minister who set out to challenge Catholicism but ended up embracing it after discovering the truth.
What's the truth? Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. With his blood he paid it all, our sins and transgressions are forgiven, receive his love and forgiveness, his grace is enough!!

As a former Evangelical, now Catholic, I can wholeheartedly say that nearly everything Mr. Gendron says about Catholicism is not just false, but intentional slander. His facts are easily disproven. It was interesting, but extremely disappointing, to hear someone that isn't a practicing Catholic tell me, incorrectly, what I believe. Not what he "believes" I believe, but stating that what he said is actually what I believe. I pray this podcast will challenge itself to do hard things and provide both points of view. Invite a protestant that is now Catholic or one of our amazing priests that could explain to you exactly what we believe. I am a Baptist preacher's daughter who converted to Catholicism, and I don't doubt for a minute that I am going to the same heaven that my father taught me about all my life, and my relationship with Jesus Christ continue to grow daily through studying God's word, like we just did last night in Bible study.
In my experience watching videos like this and engaging in the comments, it doesn’t seem matter if an educated Catholic comes on to explain what we actually believe. We can say “we don’t worship Mary” and give all the reasons why, and it seems like they just turn around immediately after and say “they worship Mary.” I think there’s a lack of respect from some Protestants towards Catholics that leads them to not even be able to say we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. I’m a cradle Catholic and the only thing I can ever remember learning about Protestants in my 12+ years of Catholic education was that while there are some differences, we are ultimately brothers and sisters in Christ.
Hi Melissa with all due to respect we are not brother and sisters in Christ. One is a false doctrine, and not the truth. Much love to you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pFdDwDTgdlk.htmlsi=g7RBZfeb0mBr1CRT
I'm a former protestant who is on the way home to the Catholic church! Going through RCIA is transforming my life in ways I could not imagine. Most wonderfully is the sense of intimacy and healing that comes with the Eucharist. I could not deal with the fragmented nature of the protestant church any longer.
Yay! Welcome home! I know what you mean. I was the same. Can’t wait for you to be able to have your first confession and receive our Savior in the Eucharist! What gifts from God!
Oh Allie, you didn’t do your homework on this guy, did you ? For you to have the nerve to tell your audience that he comes from a place of love for Catholics , is laughable and infuriating. I’m also French Canadian with a Bible that collected dust in my upbringing but I knew my relation with Christ was strong , I went to church every week with my family where we heard of the gospels. When I was older , I explored Protestantism. Well after a couple of years of that ,it was clear , Protestantism is complete mess! No one church agrees about doctrine and they all feel they have it right over the other . There’s thousands of Protestant denominations therefore there’s thousands of bishops that have the authority . Jesus resides in the Catholic Church, the One that he founded .
@@rociobello5485 it’s not one or the other and the Catholic Church is not a building. A parish is a building. The Catholic Church is built upon the rock, Peter and the apostles and their teachings. Allie, I’m Catholic, and I write this msg with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY that Mike is 100% wrong. Mike has been making these claims for quite sometime. Mike is a LIAR. He has been doing this for far too long. The Catholic Church ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT believe that Jesus leaves heaven for the Eucharist. Allie, you are capable of the 15-20 minute internet search required to find the true Catholic teachings.
In the book "Faith of Millions"- a book certified by the Roman Catholic Church to be "free of doctrinal and moral error" Catholic priest John O'Brian explains what happens during the Mass. Here is the quote "When the priest pronounces the tremendous words of consecration, he reaches up into the heavens, brings Christ down from His throne, and places Him upon our altar to be offered up again as the Victim for the sins of man. It is a power greater than that of monarchs and emperors: it is greater than that of saints and angels, greater than that of Seraphim and Cherubim. Indeed it is greater even than the power of the Virgin Mary. While the Blessed Virgin was the human agency by which Christ became incarnate a single time, the priest brings Christ down from heaven, and renders Him present on our altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of man-not once but a thousand times! The priest speaks and lo! Christ, the eternal and omnipotent God, bows His head in humble obedience to the priest’s command. [1]" The priest calls Jesus back down to continually be a weekly sacrifice for our sins. The bible teaches that Jesus paid it once and for all and sits at the right hand of the Father until his his enemies are made his footstool. See here. As Hebrews 10:12-13 notes, “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.” Again this book was approved by the Catholic Church to be free from error and 100% perfect doctrine.
@@carsonrhodesballer The imprimatur does not mean that the contents of the book are magisterial teaching. It is given by a local bishop, who does not unilaterally represent the magisterium. You need to consult the Catechism for official teaching on the Eucharist. Even Catholics know that language is not conveying the truth of what we believe. Jesus does the work at Eucharist, the priest is merely a vessel through which Jesus does His actions. Look up the catechism, quote the catechism..
@@geoffmead4581 then explain why the Reformers were burned at the stake………. Read Foxes’ Book of Martyrs. (1) Hear what John Rogers said: "I was asked whether I believed in the sacrament to be the very body and blood of our Savior Christ that was born of the Virgin Mary, and hanged on the cross, really and substantially? I answered, 'I think it to be false. I cannot understand really and substantially to signify otherwise than corporally. But corporally Christ is only in Heaven, and so Christ cannot be corporally in your sacrament.'" And therefore he was condemned and burned. (2) Hear what Bishop Hooper said: "Tunstall asked him to say, 'whether he believed the corporal presence in the sacrament,' and Master Hooper said plainly 'that there was none such, neither did he believe any such thing.' Whereupon they bade the notaries write that he was married and would not go from his wife, and that he believed not the corporal presence in the sacrament - as to why he was worthy to be deprived of his bishopric." And so he was condemned and burned. (3) Hear what Rowland Taylor said: "The second cause why I was condemned as a heretic was that I denied transubstantiation, and concomitation, two juggling words whereby the Papists believe that Christ's natural body is made of bread, and the Godhead by and by to be joined thereto - so that immediately after the words of consecration, there is no more bread and wine in the sacrament - but the substance only of the body and blood of Christ." "Because I denied the aforesaid Papistical doctrine (yes, rather plain, wicked idolatry, blasphemy, and heresy) I am judged a heretic." And therefore he was condemned and burned. (4) Hear what was done with Bishop Ferrar. He was summoned to "grant the natural presence of Christ in the sacrament under the form of bread and wine," and because he refused to subscribe this article as well as others, he was condemned. And in the sentence of condemnation, it is finally charged against him that he maintained that "the sacrament of the altar ought not to be ministered on an altar, or to be elevated, or to be adored in any way." And so he was burned. (5) Hear what holy John Bradford wrote to the men of Lancashire and Cheshire when he was in prison: "The chief thing which I am condemned for as an heretic is because I deny in the sacrament of the altar (which is not Christ's Supper - but a plain perversion as the Papists now use it) to be a real, natural, and corporal presence of Christ's body and blood under the forms of bread and wine - that is, because I deny transubstantiation, which is the darling of the devil, and daughter and heir to Antichrist's religion." And so he was condemned and burned. (6) Hear what were the words of the sentence of condemnation against Bishop Ridley: "The said Nicholas Ridley affirms, maintains, and stubbornly defends certain opinions, assertions, and heresies, contrary to the Word of God and the received faith of the Church, as in denying the true and natural body and blood of Christ to be in the sacrament of the altar, and secondarily, in affirming the substance of bread and wine to remain after the words of consecration." And so he was condemned and burned. (7) Hear the articles exhibited against Bishop Latimer: "That you have openly affirmed, defended, and maintained that the true and natural body of Christ after the consecration of the priest, is not really present in the sacrament of the altar, and that in the sacrament of the altar remains still the substance of bread and wine." And to this article the good old man replied: "After a corporal being, which the Romish Church furnishes, Christ's body and blood is not in the sacrament under the forms of bread and wine." And so he was condemned and burned. (8) Hear the address made by Bishop Bonner to John Philpot: "You have offended and trespassed against the sacrament of the altar, denying the real presence of Christ's body and blood to be there, affirming also material bread and material wine to be in the sacrament, and not the substance of the body and blood of Christ." And because the good man stoutly adhered to this opinion he was condemned and burned. (9) Hear, lastly, what Cranmer said with almost his last breath, in St. Mary's Church, Oxford: "As for the sacrament, I believe, as I have taught in my book against the Bishop of Winchester, the which my book teaches so true a doctrine, that it shall stand at the last day before the judgment of God when the Papist's doctrine contrary thereto shall be ashamed to show her face." If any one wants to know what Cranmer had said in this book, let him take the following sentence as a specimen - "They (the Papists) say that Christ is corporally under or in the form of bread and wine. We say that Christ is not there, neither corporally nor spiritually; but in those who worthily eat and drink the bread and wine He is spiritually, and corporally in Heaven." And so he was burned.

I converted to Catholicism in my 40's after going through my journey being a member of several different protestant churches (Southern Baptist, Charismatic, Episcopalian). I was staunch anti-Catholic up until I was willing to lay down my misguided and false pre-conceived notions of the Catholic faith. The catalyst of my conversion was the Episcopal Church "crack-up" in the early 2000's that occurred between the liberal and conservative wings of that denomination. This truly showed me the problem with many protestant churches with little or no hierarchial structure or control mechanisms like you have in the Catholic Church to ensure a continuation of 'traditional Christian" teaching. My conversion involved researching the early Church Fathers writings and, if nothing else, coming to the realization that the first 1,500 years of Christianity in the world was "Catholic". I do not regret my Protestant history but am grateful for it as it taught me to read scripture and treasure God's word, love to debate and discuss theological issues, and have a better understanding of the "Protestant vs Catholic" issues/differences. Nevertheless, my journey has led me to recognize that the Catholic Church is the Church established by Christ himself and his apostles, and is the truest form of Christian worship available to us. I am very grateful and blessed the Lord led me here!
The most powerful tool the god of this world uses to blind people from the light of the Gospel is religious pride and indoctrination (2 Cor. 4:4). So many Catholics say they are proud to belong to the "one true church" but it is not the true church of the first century that Jesus founded. The one true church is described in the book of Acts and you never find priests offering sacrifices for sins, indulgences remitting sin’s punishment, praying for souls in purgatory, infallible popes, salvation through sacraments, rosaries, scapulars, holy water, crucifixes, and statues. The true church is made up of everyone who has been baptized by the Holy Spirit into one Body (1 Cor. 12:13).

@@fluffyfurball7777 2 Maccabees mentions praying for the dead, which Luther disagreed with, so he removed the Deuterocanon, going with the Jewish OT canon (ironic since he didn't like Jews) rather than the Christian one.
I'm not a Catholic for various reasons including the praying to saints, angels and Mary. God is sovereign and Jesus said pray to the Father in my name and he will grant you your requests. He never said pray to anyone else. Jesus said you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven, John 3:3, which refers of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. John said Jesus would baptise in Spirit and in fire. I don't think Catholics consider this. I do agree with the Venial sin idea though. The Bible says there is the resurrection of the dead, the just and the unjust (Acts 24:25) at the great white throne judgment, Revelation 20-22, on the new earth. Those that have not been wicked are resurrected back into life. Saints never died because their sins are forgiven so they are not judged. John 11:25. It's not only saints that live in future.
@@anonymous-rm3ut Adding to your comment to say that Luther went with the Jewish OT canon as of ~90 AD (Jews before that DID include the Deuterocanon, but after Christ's death and resurrection, they wanted to distance themselves from Christians and also remove anything that might give credence to Jesus being the fulfillment of the OT)

The priest does NOT resacrifice Christ. This is a misunderstanding of the Eucharist. Christ's sacrifice is an a-temporal event. This is why Revelation states He was sacrificed "at the foundation of the world"

I never said the priest re-sacrifices Jesus. Your church says he is re-presented. According to your Catechsim "The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice: The victim is one and the same. In this divine sacrifice the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner.” (1367). According to Scripture this is false. The sacrifice at Calvary was offered by the sinless Son of God on a cross, it was one perfect, finished sacrifice for all sin for all time, only for the living. It was bloody and unrepeatable. The Catholic Mass is offered by sinful men on an altar, and performed for past sins for the living and the dead. It is said to be bloodless and repeatable. How in the world can they be the same sacrifice?????

Yeah, isn't that a trip? Bible in a year and this man says we're discouraged from reading it. I don't fully believe his background story. If he can lie so blatantly about catholicism, why not his Catholic upbringing?
@@reeseleau63729 his website states the following.... For over 30 years, Evangelist Mike Gendron was a devout Roman Catholic and a strong defender of the "one true church." He was taught from a very early age, to trust and rely on the church, its priests, the sacraments, and his own good works for salvation. However in 1981 while attending an evangelical seminar, he realized the Bible is the supreme authority for knowing truth. His new excitement and hunger for the inspired word of God led him to help organize the very first Little Rock Scripture Study at a Catholic Church in Dallas. Mike soon realized that many of the teachings and traditions of the Catholic religion were not found in the Bible. After more study, he discovered the Roman Catholic plan of salvation was diametrically opposed to the Gospel of grace that is revealed in the Bible. After discerning that God seeks worshippers in spirit and truth, Mike left the Catholic Church in 1985 for a church where the true Gospel is proclaimed and the Scriptures are the final authority in all matters of faith. In 1988 he left a successful career in corporate management to study at Dallas Theological Seminary. Four years later, during his last semester at DTS, Mike and his wife Janeʼs love for Catholics inspired them to begin a ministry that would point Catholics to the Lord Jesus Christ as their all sufficient Savior. Their hearts are now burdened for those who may be where they were for most of their life - eternally condemned and not even aware of it. Their international ministry, Proclaiming the Gospel, which is now 22 years old, has developed many resources to equip and encourage Christians to be effective witnesses to Roman Catholics.
You know, Mike Gendron was actually very helpful to me when I was studying to debunk the Catholic Church. It didn't take me a lot of effort to see he was lying at worst, or didn't care about truth at best. His repeated lies about the Church made me curious to learn more about what the Catholic Church *actually* says. My wife and I were not excited about becoming Catholic (we both came from anti-Catholic backgrounds) but years later we're glad we did. When the only play the vast members of the Opposition makes is to lie, misrepresent, and lie harder -- it's a good sign you've gotten close to the Truth.
@@JoAnnFuir i read the comments here and i see a lot of people saying "mike gendron doesn't speak on the catholic faith truly" and no ones corrects him. all i see is he is wrong, he is a liar.
You bought the devils lie He is very tempting Even Paul warns us that we will fall for his deception like Adam and Eve Please come back to the truth Christ freed us from the rules and regulations that were contrary to us He gave us rest from religion Ans He purified us of all sin by his Blood 1 John 1:7

The same feeling I have towards this pope and the bad priests. Lately, I haven't attended the Catholic church. I read the Bible daily. Then I remembered what my mother used to tell me, and she said, "I don't want you to criticize priests or the pope, because when you die, God is going to ask you, what have you done in your life,no what the priests or the pope have done" and I think she was absolutely right. One thing I know for sure is that I never going to criticize the Catholic church, my great grand parents all the way down to my kids practice the Catholic Church. I just believe in our Lord, his precious son Jesus Christ ,and the Holy Ghost.
The Bible says that the path to heaven is narrow and FEW will find it. The path to destruction is wide and many are on it. Islam and Catholicism are two of the largest denominations. Think about that.
Yup, many Protestants pride themselves in being the only ones who actually read scripture and truly understand it then when I throw out verses to support the catholic side they are completely blindsided like they had no knowledge that scripture even existed. Memorizing verses does not make you a Bible scholar. The devil knows scripture
@@lalagordo It actually does, because the only way someone can properly understand the Bible and practice the truth is if they have read the entire bible from Genesis to Revelation. @@dorcasmaldonado7380 Easy. 43:10 Mike says Catholics "removed the second commandment from their catechism". This is not true. We simply number them differently. What he calls the "second" commandment, we consider to be part of the first. And it has not been removed from the catechism. In fact, paragraphs 2129-2132 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church address this in depth. * IV. "YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FOR YOURSELF A GRAVEN IMAGE . . ."> 2129 The divine injunction included the prohibition of every representation of God by the hand of man. Deuteronomy explains: "Since you saw no form on the day that the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire, beware lest you act corruptly by making a graven image for yourselves, in the form of any figure. . . . "66 It is the absolutely transcendent God who revealed himself to Israel. "He is the all," but at the same time "he is greater than all his works."67 He is "the author of beauty."68 2130 Nevertheless, already in the Old Testament, God ordained or permitted the making of images that pointed symbolically toward salvation by the incarnate Word: so it was with the bronze serpent, the ark of the covenant, and the cherubim.69 2131 Basing itself on the mystery of the incarnate Word, the seventh ecumenical council at Nicaea (787) justified against the iconoclasts the veneration of icons - of Christ, but also of the Mother of God, the angels, and all the saints. By becoming incarnate, the Son of God introduced a new "economy" of images. 2132 The Christian veneration of images is not contrary to the first commandment which proscribes idols. Indeed, "the honor rendered to an image passes to its prototype," and "whoever venerates an image venerates the person portrayed in it."70 The honor paid to sacred images is a "respectful veneration," not the adoration due to God alone: Religious worship is not directed to images in themselves, considered as mere things, but under their distinctive aspect as images leading us on to God incarnate. The movement toward the image does not terminate in it as image, but tends toward that whose image it is.71
@@dorcasmaldonado7380 That Catholics believe that works save you. That is absolutely false. From the Decree on Justification from the council of Trent, Chapter VIII "But when the Apostle says that man is justified by faith and freely,[44] these words are to be understood in that sense in which the uninterrupted unanimity of the Catholic Church has held and expressed them, namely, that we are therefore said to be justified by faith, because faith is the beginning of human salvation, the foundation and root of all justification, without which it is impossible to please God[45] and to come to the fellowship of His sons; and we are therefore said to be justified gratuitously, because none of those things that precede justification, whether faith or works, merit the grace of justification. For, if by grace, it is not now by works, otherwise, as the Apostle says, grace is no more grace." Mike Gendron is the definition of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Disappointed in you Allie - episodes like this only serve to create division between Christians and they also hurt your credibility as a host. As a Catholic I often enjoy your show but then episodes like this make me believe you have a bias against us that is very uncharitable and that you enjoy spreading false information to feed that bias, which isn’t kind or honest to say the least. Speak to Catholics about Catholic issues if you want to understand, and do not promote people who have made a career out of spreading lies and misinformation that the majority of Catholics will disagree with. Just because someone was once a Catholic, doesn’t mean they are an expert on the subject or even a remotely reliable source of information. You wouldn’t entertain this discussion if this man was speaking lies about Evangelicals but because he feeds into the Protestant anti-Catholic narrative that has been a cancer on this country for so long, you don’t think twice about what he’s saying and don’t push back against his falsehoods. Again, I’m disappointed you would promote this content as it hurts your credibility greatly in my eyes.
I have noticed a pattern. When protestants share their testimony of belatedly entering into a personal relationship with Jesus after having been raised protestant and attending bible believing churches regularly, they often blame themselves for not having been paying attention or caring about what their churches must have been faithfully preaching and teaching. On the other hand, when people leave the Catholic church, they often blame the church for their own lack of faith. And other protestants respond by unquestioningly agreeing with them.
Yes, because many Protestant churches teach the truth, so they acknowledge that they turned away from it. Whereas most Catholic Churches do not teach Biblical truth so those people were lead by the blind, groping in the dark.
It’s true. Think of Mac powell’s great song (3rd day singer) called 1991. Read the lyrics of that song and if it was a Catholic than it would be written differently- Would put the blame on the Church instead of here in this song recognizing it was the same old story he had heard again and again (even if he didn’t recognize it before). Even if you happen in a parish that has a priest That has poor homilies or doesn’t explain things well- one will never hear more scripture than in a Catholic mass or see truth all around them. Every Catholic Church has a large crucifix of our Savior Jesus Christ at the center of the parish by the alter. “Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world” is stated by the people every mass. I could go on and on. There is a blame and pride with poorly catechized Catholics or ones that never paid attention at mass that is different with Protestant Christians who start to understand basic components of Christianity. One (for Protestants) often is gratitude like in Mac Lowell’s song. One (for ignorant Catholics like the guy above) is blaming and misrepresenting Catholic teaching.

@@RiseShineGlorify okay. Your question is fair enough. As I was saying, I sympathized with them because I recognized that they were being criticized for things that were the same things, or at least similar to, things that I believed were Biblical. For example, the anti-Catholics criticize the Catholic Church for its doctrine of transubstantiation. Now, that is a doctrine that Lutherans reject. But if you read the criticisms of the anti-Catholics, they are really rejecting the Real Presence, which is also taught by Lutherans. They are not just criticizing Catholic sacraments; they are criticizing the very idea of Sacraments. They are not just criticizing the Catholic view of Baptism; they are criticizing the Biblical view of Baptism. They are explicitly rejecting the Catholic view of Baptism, but the alternative they put forward is no biblical view, but rather a secular view. Many anti-Catholics deny not only Catholic views of scripture, but they also deny historic Protestant (Lutheran, Magisterial Protestant, Anglican and Methodist) views.
@@RiseShineGlorify To continue from my last comment, these anti-Catholics were one of the forces which led me to examine both the Bible and the Catholic Church more closely. Among the conclusions I came to was that the Catholic Church was often misrepresented. Often, it didn't even teach the things people said it taught. Or there would be a biblical basis that many Protestantists were overlooking. Or the anti-Catholics were ignoring parts of the Bible. Or they had a double standard. For example, Protestantists affirm that the Letter of James is inspired scripture, but if a Catholics say something that sounds like James 2:24, they are preaching a false gospel. Same thing if the church says something that sounds like Acts 2:38.

Those who attack the Catholic Church are friends of Satan. They vilify the Catholic Church because Satan hates the church that was founded by Christ 2000 years ago.
Evangelicals see Catholics (those poorly catechized), as the easiest, most fertile ground to gain new members to their church. Anti-Catholic sentiment is woven into the DNA of a large number of Evangelicals.

Asking ex-Catholics about Catholicism has become a meme. Many people leave the Church without enough understanding of its teachings, so relying on them for accurate information isn’t the best thing to do. Even in the nuances of Catholic theology, one thing is certain Jesus isn’t enough. The Bible plainly teaches that faith in Christ’s finished work is what justifies and makes us right before God and nothing else (Galatians 2:16, Romans 4:5). Christ’s righteousness becomes attributed by faith, just as it was for Abraham (Romans 4). You’re a sinner (Romans 3:10,23). And there is no merits through a church or otherwise that can get you to heaven. Only by faith in Christ a man will find himself in heaven, dump the religion and come to Christ. He will justify you, he is man’s only intercessor, nothing else will cut it. The wages of sin is death and eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23, Revelation 21:8; 20:15). Trust in God’s Word which states faith in Christ justifies lest you miss the narrow gate.

I have only listened to the first 15 mins or so of this interview, but already there are multiple incorrect assertions about Catholics and Church history. One of the most obvious and egregious is when he states that the Council of Trent "actually placed the Bible on the list of forbidden books." There is no truth in this claim. During the 4th session (2nd decree) of the Council of Trent, the Synod reaffirmed the position it had taken for over 1,000 years that the officially-approved Latin edition for the Church was the Latin Vulgate translated by St. Jerome in the late 4th century. Within this decree, the Synod also stated that any other translations of the Bible were not acceptable unless approved by the Pope. This was especially prudent given the invention of the printing press only 100 years earlier and the rapid printing of multiple different translations and interpretations of Scripture. But nowhere did they add the Bible to a forbidden book list. The 4th Session of the Council of Trent can also be used to refute another erroneous claim by Mr. Gendron. In their first decree, they affirmed the accepted Canon of Scripture, which was (once again) St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate. They confirmed that all of the books in the Latin Vulgate that had been used in the celebration of the Holy Mass for over 1,000 years were part of the Catholic Canon. The deuterocanonical books (referred to by Mr. Gendron as apocryphal books) were in St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate, were used in the celebration of the Mass, and were, therefore, part of official Church Canon. It is wholly inaccurate to suggest that the Catholic Church frantically searched for these books to "add to scripture" in order to justify its recognition of purgatory. They had been in the Latin Vulgate, and thus an integral part of the Catholic Church, for over 1,000 years. I anticipate Mr. Gendron's response will be to dismiss this fact and assert that it is irrelevant because the celebration of Mass is just a tradition with no bearing on the written word. Beyond the fact of the deuterocanonical books being written in the Vulgate, Scripture itself refutes this dismissal in 2 Thess 2:15: "Stand firm and hold to the traditions that were taught to us either by word of mouth or by letter." Throughout the history of the Church, oral transmission of information and adherence to tradition were the only practical means of sustaining the Church. Before peddling more falsehoods about the Council of Trent, I suggest Mr. Gendron and Allie Beth read the decrees here: www.thecounciloftrent.com/ch4.htm Mr. Gendron later points to Acts 17:11 as an example of the primacy of Scripture above all else, implying that as Paul is preaching to a crowd, they are actively fact-checking him against the written Word. The implication is that a large group of Gentiles is so familiar with the Hebrew Scripture that they can quickly cross-reference Paul's information with their scrolls. This is (at best) misleading for several reasons. In the verse immediately preceding this one, it clearly states that Paul is speaking to a group of Jews at a synagogue, not to Gentiles who were unfamiliar with Jewish teaching. Furthermore, best estimates of literacy rates in the first century put it somewhere around 10% in highly urbanized areas, and closer to 3% generally (ehrmanblog.org/how-many-people-were-literate-in-antiquity/). So to imply that vast hoards of listeners were all gathered with their Bibles (which didn't even exist at that time) to fact-check Paul is nonsense. The apostles had to spread the Word of God verbally and through adherence to traditions that were initiated by Christ, himself. I think it's worth mentioning that like most other Catholics who have responded, I have never once had a priest tell me not to read the Bible. To the extent that Mr. Gendron's memory and recounting of all his interactions with priests (including his uncle) are accurate, I would suggest he was the unfortunate victim of extremely poor Catechesis and spiritual direction. Whichever diocese this happened in is in need of spiritual renewal and proper education on Catholic doctrine. There are several other points just within the first 15 mins that I would like to address at some point, but I do not have the time now. And I have no doubt that there are many more inaccuracies in the last 35 minutes of the podcast, if I can ever manage to make it through.
@@francesedwards6890 This is not true. Gosh, this is so not true. There was a problem in Trent that the Catholic Church had made TOO MANY Biblical translations, most with random little errors, and the measure was meant so that only a handful of strong translations would exist for each language. It's the ENTIRELY opposite claim, the Church NEVER forbade the usage of English bibles. The Church approved translation to English back then was the Douay-Rheims version. It's older than the King James, and in some ways the KJV was based off the DRV. It's still in usage by many. You were encouraged to read the Bible. I don't know where you got the 1966 date there. The Second Vatican Council changed nothing of this. The Second Baltimore Council (a local council of American bishops) in the late 1800s reiterated the focus of making sure every Catholic household owned a copy of the Douay-Rheims and had it as its most precious and often read book in the home.

Ex-atheist here. In all my years when I was trying to find my way into the faith, I couldn't shake off the observation that a really large percentage of Protestants think that just because they think the Catholic Church is false that gives them the right to lie. The many comments on this thread stating how the Catholic faith is misrepresented here is a theme I have noticed from Protestants, of which I currently am. Misrepresenting Catholics sadly seems to be commonplace.

I think it's great that so many Catholics are reading scripture, but as a whole, the Catholic church still puts more emphasis on praying the rosary and reciting devotions than it does on reading scripture. By the way, just recently,, Bishop Joseph Strickland spoke in a video on how we can prepare ourselves spiritually, during these terrible times. Not one word about reading scripture. Not one.

Claiming the Catholic Church discourages reading the Bible is off-base. Every Mass includes multiple readings-from the Old and New Testaments, Psalms, and a Gospel. Scripture is central to Catholic worship, it is taught daily, not just on Sundays. The idea that Catholics don’t rely on Scripture ignores the deep integration of the Bible in all aspects of worship and doctrine. May the Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on you both for spewing such blatant falsehoods about the body of Christ - The One Holy Catholic and Apostalic Church.
@@angelapaterniti6394 What does him sharing his personal reasons leaving the Catholic faith have to do with the truth ? He’s all over you tube spewing hate & lies instead devoting himself to our Saviour by growing closer to Him. This is not how you do it!
So true. We must speak out against these lies and pray for those like Allie Beth who provide people like Mike Gendron a platform. Allie Beth, there are so many other people you could interview...Bishop Barron, Keith Nester, Joe Heschmeyer, Scott Hahn, but you chose Mike Gendron? Really? Was this intentional?
@@angelapaterniti6394This is an honest question, what do you think Catholics are doing? Especially those who convert or remain in the Church? We’re reading Scripture with an open mind. What Mike is doing is reading the Bible with a closed mind to all the Saints, Church Fathers, and Apostles who disagree with him. Like many Catholic reverts, I hope one day he realizes his error.
I am so sorry he misunderstood his Catholic faith. Prayers he will study it again with the openness he had when converting. The problem with Bible alone “churches” is anyone can find a “church” to fit their theology. But as a protestant who finally surrendered my knowledge to Christ and His church I came to see 1st the misunderstandings and then the FULL TRUTH within His church and came home to the Catholic church🙏 God bless you both and may God grant you grace to keep seeking truth. It IS by Grace we have been saved, not of our own doing! He then grants us grace through the sacraments to battle this world and flesh!
I encourage you to listen to RIchard Bennett or listen to Dr james white. Richard is an expert on catholism as well as Dr James white and base their judgement on years of evidences. That you be very interested in.
@@sorrowinchrist3387 I have seen James White, including in debates. He is decidedly unimpressive and is also recycling incorrect information that he has been saying for decades. In particular, in a recent debate with Jimmy Akin, James White clearly agrees with the doctrine of purgatory, and just can't say that it is true. His position was equivalent to "this liquid consists of molecules comprising two hydrogen molecules and one oxygen molecule, it freezes below 32F and boils at 212F, it is clear and has no taste, but it isn't water." Go read the catechism.
Converting to the Catholic Church with my husband was the best thing that ever happened in my 60 year faith journey. We read, meditate on and pray the Scriptures daily. I’ll pass on listening to this episode after perusing the comments. Lord, please unite Your Church. John 17
Agree 100 percent. Converting to the Catholic Church after 55 years of being a Protestant Christian is the moat amazing thing that has happened to me and my husband. Praise the Lord for leading us home! Lord unite your Church ❤
God will not answer you prayer and unite your church in false doctrine with the bride of Christ which is a people found with no guile and who obey God’s law. All of the 10 commandments. Individuality = Protestantism Globalism= Catholicism; hence, the one world order, Unite all faiths = common good philosophy, own nothing, communism. This is not God’s will and so it will not be so. They will try but it will not happen and Christ will come. The people need to come out of Babylon as it says in scripture and that includes you, with or without your husband. Salvation is an individual work of a lifetime and it can not be given by culture, traditions, church standing so membership, only by the Holy Spirit working in your heart. Please study more and ask God for his leading.
Let me be serious for a second, I was raised evangelical Baptist. When I was older, I researched some things my pastors preached and found they were lies, not biblical and made of man. Now I am not saying that all pastors lie, but mine did. This led me to leave the church and Christianity as a whole. Thankfully i married a faithful catholic women and found my way back to salvation through Jesus. Here is the problem with Mike's work, it is so blatantly false that when people find out they are deceived, it could cause them to leave Christianity. Like I did. Mike is gaining an income from these lies, but at what cost? The souls of lost Christians?
Healthy debate between Catholics and Protestants is always welcome. This was not that. Pretty much every answer Mr. Gendron had was inaccurate of Catholic teaching. Allie, go look up the questions that you asked in this interview on Catholic Answers or in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and then definitely feel free to engage with the accurate teachings of the church. But engaging with these twistings/strawmans of Catholicism isn’t helpful for any side. As just one of about 50 falsehoods Mr. Gendron states, Catholicism does NOT teach works based salvation. Also Scott Hahn’s book “Hail Holy Queen: The Mother of God in the Word of God” provides a quick read of insight into the Catholic doctrines of Mary. It’s not as Mr. Gendron describes here haha.
Also Tim Staples' "Behold Your Mother" goes through all of the Catholic dogmas about Mary and offers biblical proof for each. Tim is a former Baptist (now Catholic.)
It took this man 35 years to read his Bible? I’m sorry to say he was not a faithful Catholic. Just going to Mass each Sunday alone and following the daily readings would have had him reading the entirety of the Bible in a 3 year period. He is what we call a cultural Catholic.
I'm a Catholic. Let's not start lying in the opposite direction. Note below from Catholic Answers. Sunday Masses use a three-year cycle of readings, whereas daily Masses use a two-year cycle. It has been reported by Fr. Felix Just, S.J., that the Sunday and weekday Lectionaries contain: 13.5 percent of the Old Testament (not counting the Psalms) 54.9 percent of the non-Gospel New Testament 89.8 percent of the Gospels 71.5 percent of the entire New Testament
After a whole entire hour, I still have not heard one true statement about the Catholic Church. Everything said was either a blatant lie or insanely misunderstood about what the Catholic Church teaches.
@@scottward4316 He literally stated that the council of Trent added the bible to list of banned books. I was a protestant who studied the Council of Trent in university. It literally was what made me convert to Catholicism. This man probably doesn't even know the council of Trent, it makes over a thousand references to the the gospels.
@@haronsmith8974 i read the comments here and i see a lot of people saying "mike gendron doesn't speak on the catholic faith truly" and no ones corrects him. all i see is he is wrong, he is a liar.
Former evangelical. My Catholic experience: Jesus has never been closer. I have never been fuller. I have never been this obedient. I always had access to Jesus as a Protestant, but he was further away and harder to grasp/hold onto. With the sacraments, the are never more than a few days I stray away, as I can receive absolution and take the Eucharist, and get back to full strength. Best thing that's ever happened to me. Praise Jesus.
The Catholic faith is so badly misrepresented here. I too, was poorly catechised, but thanks be to God, I am learning the truth about Catholicism and have reverted. Speak to Catholics like Scott Hahn about what the faith actually teaches
The Catholic faith is centered on the priesthood instead of Jesus. It is the priest who baptizes for regeneration and justification. The priest hears confession and absolves sin. The priest offers the body and blood of Jesus in the Eucharist. The priest imparts Holy Spirit in Confirmation. The priest gives Last Rites and then offers Mass for souls suffering in purgatory. Catholic need to know their priesthood is scandalous because Jesus is the perfect High Priest and the one mediator between God and man.

I seriously doubt that any priest ever told him to not read the Scriptures - I suspect there’s a lot more to the story than what he’s claiming here. My understanding and reading of the Scriptures deepened AFTER I left the evangelical church and came back to the Catholic Church.
Allie, I fell away from the Catholic Church too. I also didn't know my faith. But after years of being away, it was through learning the Bible and hearing Catholic doctrine explained that I came back. I found that the Bible really does support Catholic doctrime. Particularly, I realized that when Jesus said, "Eat my body, drink my blood," he meant it. I am so grateful to be back! I urge people who have fallen away to hear the Bible explained by faithful Catholic teachers like Trent Horn, Scott Hahn, Tim Staples, Jimmy Akins, and all the teachers with Catholic Answers. Dear God's Love, I read the Bible everyday, and I do have a relationship with God. That is what I am saying. "😂Catholics are Christians". This fellow who Allie had on her show didn't know his faith. He had a poor catechesis. The sad part is he still doesn't know what the Catholic Church teaches. I think it's a good idea to read The Catechism of the Catholic Church, in order to learn about what the Catholic Church teaches instead of just grabbing onto false narratives. We should not be afraid to find things out, even if we have to give up a tradition that we are deeply attached to.
Allie already knows the Truth which is found in God’s Word. The gospel of Christ is antithetical to the catholic teachings. I pray the Lord keeps using Allie to open Catholic’s eyes!

God bless him and Allie. They still share the gospel to a broken world and am still very thankful for your ministry.
When I first came to Christ, I started reading the Bible. I remember my mom telling me not to read it so much lest I went crazy. I never read one verse until I became a Christian.
Well, here's the thing: you may have read the bible during every RCIA class, but that is no comparison to what you would experience if you were a member of a bible believing church. I know this from personal experience. Keep in mind that since Protestants believe in "sola scriptura" they devote their lives to the study of the bible, but Catholicism is not set up that way. .
Thank you for saying that. It’s weird that Allie would invite someone who obviously hates the Catholic Church and then introduce him as someone who speaks out of love for Catholics. Is Allie really that gullible to believe that? It was literally an hour of lies about what the Catholic Church teaches and believes 🤦🏻♂️
If you want a real theologian try Scott hahn. A former Protestant who realized the Holy Catholic Church was the only church founded by Jesus Christ himself

This is sad to have this man on misrepresenting Catholicism. I am a Protestant who has been researching Catholicism for the last almost 3 years and what is truly taught by the Catholic Church. I started out watching what this man had to say and reading what he wrote (he was recommended my by sister in law) and later found SO many misrepresentations and flat out lies that he portrayed Catholicism taught that they truly don't. I went to other Protestant sources wanting to know what they thought about Catholicism and found the same ignorance. When I began learning straight from the source what the Catholic Church stood for and taught my eyes were opened to the deception and ignorance that so many Protestants have towards Catholicism. It is so sad! Humbling ourselves, asking for God to lead us into all truth, choosing to have charitable conversations with our brothers and sisters in Christ who believe differently than we do and truly wanting to understand why rather than simply wanting to win an argument will go a long way. After years of research with my Bible open and my heart humbled to truly hear the leading of the Holy Spirit our whole family will be confirmed into the Catholic Church this coming Easter. We choose to follow Christ no matter the cost. Several other strong and faithful protestants have made the same journey Scott Hahn, Keith Nester, Steve Ray, Marcus Grodi, Jimmy Akin, Tim Staples...just to name a few off of the top of my head. Interviewing someone like Scott Hahn would be incredibly insightful for your listeners. He has nothing bad to say about his protestant roots, he is thankful, but reading the Bible truly led him into Christ's Church...the Catholic Church.
Did you not listen to the same podcast as I did? He read out of the Bible. He gave you all the truth and the facts of what the Bible says. Do you believe the Bible? Because he read scripture. It’s not his opinion. it’s what God‘s word says, and he gave you the truth. So is God wrong? Is Jesus Christ wrong? Is God’s word wrong? Why are you attacking him? He read out of the Bible
@@CS-fi2wx the problem is, he should have read more out of the Bible. He quoted snippets that didn't give the whole story that leads many people to Catholicism. Open the whole chapter. Not just the snippets he's quoting.
Thank you for saying this, as a Catholic it is heartwarming to know that even though we disagree with Protestants there are some who genuinely want to understand us and vice versa. May God bless you and your family!
I think that’s what needs to happen…for both sides to humble themselves and enter into charitable conversations truly desiring to unite where we can and lovingly disagree where there are differences. This episode I think just promotes further division and that is not what Christ wants (John 17). So much beauty and truth in Catholicism when you actually learn what the Church actually teaches not what people perceive it teaches. Thank you for your kind response! God bless you also!
Yes, please! I guarantee you that any Protestant convert to the Catholic Church will say that they are so thankful for many parts of their prior Protestant faith. They were just looking for the fullness of truth, goodness, and beauty and found it in the Catholic Church!
I’m sorry, you can say and even believe that this is not an attack, but when people refuse to do research and spout actual lies about the Church, I can’t help but think the opposite is true. My love for scripture and relationship with God has never been more vibrant as a convert to Catholicism. I simply can’t be open to someone who is literally lying. His experience is his own but does not at all discredit the Catholic Church.

I was raised Catholic, and have read many of these comments. To some and perhaps to the credit of many you have some valid points; however I would be a miss if I didn't believe that one's salvation could be obtained other than by grace through faith alone. Many catholics believe it's by grace, but they add works, and argue James gospel in reference you show me your faith and I will show you my works. Now this explanation is quite easy to explain, but you have to understand the tenor of scripture. One it doesn't contradict. Read Roman's 11:6 . I think it will help anyone on the fence when it comes to this truth about grace and works.
@@davidmoran4506 if you think the Catholic Church teaches you are saved by works you don’t know the faith. It shows an ignorance in your understanding. Catholics agree that we are saved by faith, belief, baptism, Eucharist and obedience to God, these are all necessary to have what is called a saving faith. So no it’s not faith alone however it is not saved by works. That’s an ancient heresy called Pelagianism that was condemned in the like 5th century or so. We are saved by faith through grace. Faith and love could be used as a better descriptor. Perhaps you aren’t Catholic because you’re not aware of what the faith taught. This is common for those who leave out of theological ignorance.
I was born a catholic and fell away. I recently went back, and I'm so happy to be back. There is no other denomination I would belong to , other than the beautiful Catholic one. I love the sacraments, Mary and the Eucharist , which we believe Jesus is actually present. I found other denominations to do to much feel good preaching , not enough about your soul and being in mortal sin , which you DO NOT want to be in when you die. Too many protestants I know sin and say , well that's what Jesus died for. I have a relationship with Jesus. I talk to him every day. Without him, there would be no catholic church , and therefore , no protestant ones.
These comments are really encouraging. I was saved in my early twenties and started going to a Methodist church. I bounced around to various Methodist and non-denominational churches since. I started going to a Catholic Church when I was 31 as one of my buddies invited me to attend. I quickly fell in love with the Mass, the tradition, the sacraments, the Rosary, the prayer cards, the St. Michael prayer, and the admirable and devoted lives of the saints. I was always on fire for Jesus. But I definitely experienced renewed vigor, strength, passion and fire when I was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church. And I love the power and grace I get from the sacraments of the Eucharist and confirmation. Satan and his demons tremble when Catholics receive Eucharist and go to confession. These are two powerful weapons in the realm of spiritual warfare. These weapons are not available in Protestant or non-denominational churches. I also started listening to the Bible in a year podcast by Father Mike Schmitz. This is a Catholic podcast that millions of people around the world listen to. I love you Allie, but you got this one wrong. I agree with the other commenters who encourage you to have Scott Hahn on the show next.
and there's a Scripture verse for such a person. Revelation 21: 8 tells us ...."But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all LIARS, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." I'm genuinely concerned for Mike Gendron as he's right, he probably won't be going to heaven. He not only lies but his mission is to lead others astray with such lies. May God have mercy on his soul.
This is interesting because I went the other way............from Protestantism to Catholicism. John Henry newman said......"Weak catholics become protestant. Strong protestants become catholic". I dont say that in a snide, passive aggressive way, but I just think Mike was not a strong catholic, or at least the teaching he was given was not strong because if you're going to mass every day during lent in order to earn "Spiritual brownie" points it means you're heart isnt right, youre doing it for the wrong reasons. I go to mass every day during lent, not to get anything from God but simply because I love the mass and I love being in the Lord's presence.

Learn to stay before him in silence, to read and meditate on the Bible, especially the Gospels, to converse with him every day in order to feel his presence of friendship and love.” “Everyone should carry a small Bible or pocket edition of the Gospels and should find at least a few minutes every day to read the word of God.” “A Bible for every family! …Not to place it on a shelf, but to keep it at hand, to read it often, every day, both individually and together, husband and wife, parents and children, maybe in the evening, especially on Sundays. I am a former protestant and converted to the Catholic faith and I know the Catholic faith were well. This video is just misleading about what the Catholic Church teach us today. Please read the Catholic Catechism if you do not believe me. It is in fact a grave sin to leave the one and holy and apostolic Catholic universal Church who the apostles founded at the day of Pentecost. The Catholic bishop of Ignatius of Antioch wrote in the year 107 or 108: "Where the bishop is, there is the Christian community, just as where Christ is, there is the Catholic Church". And every letters he wrote to the Christians Catholic at his time reflect the Catholic teaching. Jesus told us to be one and that it is only one faith. So let us join the first Church, the Catholic Church before it is too late. Do not get lost in jungle of protestantic church communities because this is strong deformed beliefs with many slogans like sound bites. Jesus prayed that we should be one. This one exist in the Chatolic Church. This preacher does not at all teach in acordance with the Catholic faith. I am so thankful to Jesus Christ my saviour, that he leaded me safely to Christ ONE Church.
It is truly heartbreaking that this poorly catechized man is unknowingly taking people away from the true Church. Fellow Catholics, we need to be better about proclaiming the gospel to lapsed Catholics to combat these defections from the Church.
"The true church". Therein lies the problem. I read the Bible; Where does it say in the Bible to pray to Mary, angels and saints rather than the Father in the name of Jesus? Jesus said pray to the Father. The Bible says call no man Father. So why do they call priests, father. Why can't priests marry. That's not in the Bible. Do they read where it says you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven, John 3:3. That the Holy Spirit must indwell you and that you are sanctified by the word and the Holy Spirit. Jesus baptised with the Holy Spirit and fire. Where does it say that Mary is the queen of heaven or the mediatrix, the mediator between man and God? Why have they changed the second commandment, thou shalt have no idol and not bow down to them. The Rosary is not in the Bible. It doesn't have this idea of praying fixed prayers to atone for sins. You simply pray to Jesus or the Father and repent and genuinely strive not to sin. God knows your heart. These are just some issues I have. I do however believe in Venial sin in that there is a sin unto the death of the soul which is wicked and there is sin which is forgiven. Acts 24:15 says there is the resurrection of the dead, the just and the unjust. So people that have not been wicked from all backgrounds go back into life one the new earth. (Revelation 20-22). The great white throne judgment.
@@flatearthevidence8473 1. To pray means to ask. Like when you ask your friends to pray for you, we ask the Saints to pray for us to God. The prayers of the righteous do much and if we are surrounded by a crowd of witnesses as Hebrews tells us, why not ask for their help? 2. You are reading Matthew 23 literally, but Jesus did not intend his statement to be literal. If Jesus wanted no one to call a man father or rabbi as he said in those verses, Stephen and the Apostle Paul would be breaking his commandment. In addition, we call our fathers “dad” and our doctors “doctor” all the time. Doctor means teacher. Are we breaking Jesus’ command?
@@flatearthevidence8473 yes we read John 3 at Mass and believe it fully. Mary is in the Bible as the queen of heaven in Revelation 12 when she appears in heaven with a crown on her head as she gives birth to Jesus. The Church has not declared Mary as the mediatrix, that’s a common misconception. The second commandment stands. You shall not make a graven image. However Exodus 20 does not prohibit making likelinesses or statutes. If it did, God wouldn’t instruct the Israelites in Exodus 25 to make the Ark of the Covenant complete with cherubim figures on it. You’re right, the rosary is not in the Bible. It does not save us from our sins - only Jesus does that. It is merely a thoughtful prayer and meditation on Christ’s life. Not everything that Christians believe or do is in the Bible, including the belief in Sola scriptura.
The true Gospel is revealed in the inspired, ignorant Word of God. God's Perfection - HE IS HOLY God is majestic in holiness (Exodus 15:11). Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne (Psalm 97:2). God is a righteous judge (Psalm 7:11). He cannot tolerate wickedness (Habakkuk 1:13). Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account (Hebrews 4:13). Those who worship God must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24). Man's Problem - ALL HAVE SINNED All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you (Isaiah 59:2). There is no one righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10). We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The soul who sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). The lake of fire is the second death (Revelation 20:14). Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). Without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). God's Provision - A SAVIOR Jesus Christ is the blessed hope...our great God and Savior (Titus 2:13). He is the image of the invisible God...in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form (Colossians. 1:15; 2:9). For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). God made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people (Hebrews 9:28). Christ suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18). He (Jesus) is able to save completely those who come to God through Him (Hebrews 7:25). There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Man's Part - REPENT AND BELIEVE "What must I do to be saved?" (Acts 16:30). Repent and Believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15). By this Gospel you are saved...that Christ died for our sins...that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:2-4). The Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe it (Romans 1:16). If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and with your mouth that you confess and are saved (Romans 10:9-10). Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10). God's Promise - ETERNAL LIFE These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:13). Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him (John 3:36). Jesus said, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand" (John 10:28-29). God's gifts and His call are irrevocable (Romans 11:29). How Will You Respond to God's Word? There is only one way to be saved - by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9). And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace (Romans 11:6). You must cease from trusting in anything you DO to save yourself and put all your trust in Jesus and what He has DONE - His sacrificial death on Calvary's cross and His resurrection from the dead. This will give you a permanent right standing before God!
Sad as a new Catholic convert (previously a reformed Protestant of 25 years) to see the misrepresentation of Catholic teaching here. I love open discussion from both sides, but I wish the guest were someone who would not use selective disclosure about the Catholic faith / church history. As noted below, Scott Hahn would be excellent. I appreciate him being willing to share, but I wish it wasn’t based on broad personal experience. There are no perfect Catholic churches or priests and I am sad that his bad experience is elevated to the point of truth about the faith
Please clarify the misrepresentations. He no longer affirms the teachings of the Catholic Church because of what he has understood in Scripture. This notion that there was one church for 1500 years is an absolute lie. If you read the Epistles you see that false doctrines arose from the first century Church onwards.
There are so many misconceptions in this interview that I would need to make an equally long video to debate them. I’ll limit myself to saying that Mr. Gendron is misleading so many people, has understood NOTHING about the Catholic doctrine and is risking his salvation and that of others. Whoever leaves the Catholic Church does it out of ignorance, arrogance an plain weakness. Praying that the Holy Spirit enlightens this man and brings him back home before it’s too late.
