Max is just a normal guy, watch the Zandvoort driver parade, he is the only one having a chat with the dude that drives him around in a typical Maxplaining way with his hans
LOL. Funny, learning that Max would hide out in I.T., the last place folks would search. Envisioning Adrian, mad scientist, at home in a pile of design sheets.. good stuff, Tommo. Thumbs up always.
His name is Max, and he is max by nature. His full send philosophy and giving zero fucks what anyone thinks is why I love him. Also a very down to earth normal guy and doesn’t look at himself as being above his peers.
Very much like Sena. Sena was much more for the people and humanities. But there driving styles are so alike. Clam when needed but take the gloves off and the world be dammed
As I was reading your comment, I was thinking, "His humility... it's his humility that makes me like him so much." But then you recovered nicely at the end. The young fella does seem to have his head screwed on straight. I wish *_I_* had been so level-headed in my early 20s! By comparison, I was an utter moron. Then again, I didn't have guidance from a father. So he had that going for him. And it's paid major dividends.
6:29 Let's not forget Helmut Marko won the 1971 24h of Le Mans in a Porsche 917K together with Gijs van Lennep. That car is an absolute beast to drive.
One thing I observed with max is that all of his teammates past and present love him and respect him talk so highly of him but all of Lewis's team mates past and present don't really like him very much wonder why 🤔 they all seemed to have some complain or another about him, specially alonso whose one of the greatest drivers
Jos Verstappen stresses that they specifically trained in being quick instantly in a new car when Max was young. He too considers that as Max’s greatest talent.
@@CrazyOldAussie He would bring it more to the middle but a pile of shit with a shit engine is still a pile off shit with an shit engine no matter who drives it.
@@CrazyOldAussie you can see how max will drive a haas car in silverstone. his damaged car makes his RB18 on par/slightly below a haas performance. He Scored Points that day
finding out about max going to IT to hide from the media or when he was feeling stressed and bonding with them in the process is such a fun thing to hear, to be honest. it makes him seem quite down to earth
I loved this interview. The easy and comfort of this man is great. The insight into Adrian and Marco was fabulous. I could listen to this for hours . Ted
To be fair Helmut is a good man i once asked plenty of guys involved in f1 on how can i improve my racing to get to the level of f1 n Helmu Marko was the only one that responded to me n gave some really worthy piece of advices
@@somebody1291 cool what class did you race in, and do you still race ? Helmut oversees the junior department so very nice of him to give some good pointers to a junior looking for some advice.
Really clears up a lot of my curiosity, I guess I never really considered that Christian answered directly to Helmut, I always sort of pictured them as a duo.
More than likely it will be a duo but with helmuts final say because christian wont know everything and neither will helmut but together they will work out the best way
The reason why Max is Max is training and training(he drives his F1 cars as he did his Karts) and confidence. Iracing has nothing to do with it, his extreme confidence is rooted in a bizar good kart career. Combine this with some autistic way of dealing with pressure and natural talent and the result is the best this sport has ever seen.
rolling starts after the safety car is when Iracing comes into play, Lewis has some homework to do or I better say Charles because Lewis will not battle Max anymore
"...some autistic way of dealing with pressure ..." made me laugh but also is a strikingly good description of how well this guy performs under pressure
@obimk1 I don’t know that story, Jos did build the engines and Max needed to help and learn . Jos told Max not to overtake at certain easy corners, forced him to do it the hard way (Max was demolishing competiton in karts)
@@boopboop2521 It’s mad, I’m twice his age and when I start a sim race I’m 10 times more nervous (and zillions with me) then he was at 17 for his 1st GP🤷🏻 my idea is Max sees a GP weekend no differently than a Kart weekend with his dad in the past, just go race and have fun, unreal
Ferrari knows Binotto's master plan is for next year, they can't get rid of him yet. Big mistake if they did, they would be throwing all that work away. They're not a perfect team, but they have considerably improved compared to previous years.
Max just drives whatever car he is given to the maximum limit. As long as it has a pointy front end he will cope with the rest himself. His Dad was sadly never in a top line car but he was a good driver too. Jos has taught Max to get the best out of whatever he is given. As in getting him to drive carts on slicks on a wet track. Max is the current Senna. Don’t tell me I can’t do it I just will. Helmut I would love to meet for a chat as he was good friends with Jochen Rindt who as I child remember well being killed racing and still winning the world championship. The only thing that stopped Red Bull being champions since Seb won 4 on the trot was a decent engine. Every manufacture refused to supply engines because they knew Red Bull had FR better cars than they did. Mercedes’ basically cheated their way to best engine as FIA gave them advance notice of the requirements. That’s why they complain so much about Red Bull. As for stating the safety car rules in Monza were perfectly applied shows how much they cheat. The rules weren’t applied correctly, wrong car picked up by safety car for several laps. Last thing Mercedes wanted was a quick reset as their cars would probably have been passed on the restart. Can’t wait for the next year Mercedes to see how bad that will be. Meanwhile Mr Newey will have created some other new master plan to glue the car to the floor and with Honda officially supplying engines making them unbeatable again. Pity Alpha Tuari can’t make their car either handle better or get a good new driver in the team.
His dad drove the same car Micheal Schumacher became champion wth, so he did drive a top line car. Off course that car was built to match Michael, but still. Jos also admitted that Michael was in another class, and I think his own son is aswell.
@@araml.3138 That's bullshit . Jos was and is still very angry as the car was totally different as Schumachers car had still all the driver aids that where forbidden that year . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7wSHeuPg9SU.html
@@araml.3138 I do remeber a short clip from German TV (RTL). It must have been between 2003, I think, were Schumacher and Vertsppen had some fun one afternoon on a GP-weekend and went karting. They were accompanied by some of thier children, I belive Gina-Maria Schumacher and Max Verstappen. And although those were no racing karts and Michael and Jos certainly did not give everything they got it was interesting to see how good even then Max's car control was.
lmfaaao i used to hide from my boss in the IT office too hahaha, i had a friend working there and whenever i wanted a long nice break from work i hid there and we was watching football
Max being on speed from the first lap is training by Jos. Jos mentionned that durong carting, other drivers would warm up the engines and take 4-5 laps before pushing and he would give Max only 2 laps to be on speed, that was mandatory. The insanity of that man
Literally didn't realize until he said it that almost half of the field is red bull or former red bull drivers lol Seb Ricardo Sainz Gasley Sunota Max Albon
Well he didn't have a dominant car last year, especially not in the second half of the season. This year the Red Bull only got equal/ahead with Ferrari at Zandvoort. Max will win (more) championships without a dominant car. He already achieved 2nd and 3rd WDC places with second and third cars. The real measure of a car is the second driver, and we can just look back how many 2nd places Bottas got in the Merc dominance era to know what part was car vs driver back then.
Pastry kid is un-fucking-believable. Never entered a professional kart race until he was about 13, came second in a national championship in his debut season, did a grand total of three seasons, 2nd place in British F4 in his second season, second-year Formula Renault Eurocup champ two years later… and then just wipes the floor with fairly competitive F3 and F2 grids for two straight years. Ten or so kart competitions, six years in cars (and a champion in half of them), and then - oh look, F1. Spending last year giving Otmar a heart attack doesn’t seem to have slowed him down too much. 😆 Started in RC racing - so he’s basically an Aussie Lewis Hamilton, minus the having to make an effort to look white enough to enter the sporting equivalent of Utah.
All creators need to do this for the algorithm. Most creators are better than it but if they don't, their content doesn't get pushed to the max audience. Blame YT/Google.
The story about Max was told 2 weeks ago in the Pitstop podcast by another RB IT guy, apparently a former colleague so the story is true but it is word for word exactly the same, bit weird
I hope max leaves red bull, I cannot stand the team (mostly the managements public persona) but respect there achievements. I couldn’t stand vettel whilst he was there and really grown to love him once he left Max is the real deal and probably the only serious challenger to Hamiliton’s overall records, especially now he’s calmed down, his driving this year is worlds apart from last year but just can get on with him in the red bull.
I think Dutch people in general are way more down to earth than Brits. And I say that as a Dutch guy having lived in London for 3.5 years. British people don’t say in your face if they don’t like something. It’s only that afterwards, you find out, almost by being shamed. I really do not appreciate this aspect of the culture.
@@Turtledove72 I wish there were more people like you then. 😀 Maybe it’s also that… Dutch people are less politically correct, there is less protocol. Here in London I feel it’s often about not giving offence. In The Netherlands it’s also about not taking offence. You can say more what you want. At the same time, there is so much more inequality here. I think there is an underlying harshness. But maybe that’s just because this is a city like NYC. My experience, fwiw. 😀
@@starbase218 I was from Cornwall and it was a different pace there. People certainly didn’t hide how they felt. Lol I am now in Australia and it’s becoming so politically correct and it was never like that. Mind you I do still say what I think, which gets me in trouble sometimes. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Have a good day and I’ve enjoyed intelligent conversation, without abuse. 🙂
@@Turtledove72 Yeah, I guess it’s possible The Netherlands has changed as well. Not sure if it’s for the better. Seems to me like free thought and free speech is impaired sometimes. Which feels very wrong. Anyway, thanks for responding.
3:42 I'm not a fan of Red Bull's attitude. I much prefer teams who LOVE motorsport, specifically Formula 1, teams such as Ferrari and Williams. Yes I know Ferrari wants to sell their road cars but no one can tell me that the Ferrari team doesn't truly love motorsport.
Ferrari is just a name. If RB doesn't LOVE motorsport, why the FCK do they have 2 F1 teams; pay a driver 40+million a year; the only team to give Mercedes a run for their money and now BUILDING an own engine?! RB has meant more to F1 over the past 20!! yrs than Ferrari! Face it. RB brought Vettel, Verstappen, Sainz, Ricciardo, Gasly, Albon, Tsunoda (33% of todays grid) to F1.. They even sponsored Kimi @ Sauber.. 5 driver and 4 constructor titles (6-5 on the way).. What has Ferrari done the past 20yrs?! 1 title and trying to win with a illegal engine.. WOW. Just. A. Name.
This guy confirms what i have been saying for years now. Horner has NOTHING to do at RB he has NO talent. He is only there to kiss Marko's ass all day. No suprise if you look at the complete resume of Horner. Cars he either driven or managed himself where ALWAYS at the back of the field.
@@MrFloppyHare His ego and need to get quick results mindset will be RedBull's demise in the future. His boss should just communicate with Horner directly.
@@hifriend7581 There are normal people and there are idiots everywhere, so also amongst Max fans and Hamilton fans. You def shouldn't take those toxic idiots serious and just ignore them.
Red Bull got the best bed mate in f1... the FIA! Oh, Masi will be the sacrificial lamb for the FIA that last 2021 race, but, 1to 2 million cost cap violation? Strange bed fellows? Red Bull and the FIA? I think not. They, the FIA act like RB got compromising pictures or something, year after year and this year the lamest excuse " We did pay our employee, for a whole year, and he was fine with that he took one for the team" piss down someone else's back and tell them it's raining 🌧. Cheers 🍻 to the rational thinking people of Formula One community.
The man was literally defending his racist father-in-law and saying it was misunderstood. Anyone who openly defends racists is also racist, that’s simple logic.
