Our church won't go into apostasy again. Just individuals. And lots, as we know.

Love your perspective. In Jacob 5 of the Book of Mormon and elsewhere we have the Lord's parable of the vineyard. Tie in other scriptures where the Lord tells us He is Lord over all the Earth who intends to draw all people unto Him. Then He talks of having "other sheep" whom also He must teach and bring into the fold in these last days. Now we teach the gospel in all nations to find and gather in all who will. The Lord seems to work according to the understanding of men in their own cultures and traditions. He thrives in diversity and in having people repent until we can all gather into one fold of common values, standards and desires.

Two months ago I dove into Ojibwe prophecy and language, and it was random but I felt pulled there, now seeing all this getting revealed or discussed really shows me there was a purpose for that interest. I do believe there are records all over and there is lots of cultural influences, I do believe the prophet holds the keys and authority. I know the Book of Mormon is for gathering scattered Israel, and for the Lamanites specifically, that must be for a great reason. I am sure there are many branches which were connected with Bookmof Mormon peoples that held their own record, and perhaps the Book of Mormon is what bring is all together, hopefully we will see this soon. I think now is the time of the white skinned people coming with a face wanting to learn. At least that fire seems ignited correctly now, or renewed.

I totally agree with you. Ive always been ked ti learn more and m9re of the American Indians, thr many tribes that we as white skinned people even withun the church do not yet know about the all those before us. I do have hopi indian and cherokee ancestors so that has always sparked my interest but i truly believe these are thr people of the book of mormin and even before its time.

Here is something to remember...a record or prophecy can be truthful or even seen as scripture before it comes to pass or accepted as scripture, (in the eyes of God) if it kept hidden or unrevealed by others who spoke with God. It's just a matter of whether we're (church) is late to the party or not. The BoM was scripture before it came to Joseph Smith & deemed scripture. The same can be true for other records, however it comes... animal hyde, birch, scrolls 📜.

Like the words and phrases in the book of Isaiah, an 'island in the shape of a turtle' as well as the 'dream of the little boy,' can and likely has more than one meaning. The little boy can mean both Joseph Smith, and possibly the Sioux prophet Black Elk. The first and last islands the Abishinaabe stopped at in their journey west were also shaped like a turtle, in addition to the continent of North America has been forever known as Turtle Island to them and many other tribes throughout the continent.

Joseph Smith loved the texts he received from the tribal chiefs in his day but it was so inflammatory to the Restored (& primarily European) Church that Hyrum exclaimed, 'You must not print it!' Joseph also said that he held back most of what he knew because the people would rise up & kill him! Makes me wonder how much of that flew in the face of "divine providence". (Aka state sanctioned genocide). 💔 Maybe that's why the Lord saw fit to allow His Church to share, however briefly, what it was like to have an extermination order on its people. I don't know. Just a few thoughts.

Very very interesting idea. Humbling us by making us the other so that we are willing to receive truth wherever it comes from.

So Joseph Smith was unwilling to break the whole message because he was afraid of persecution? I guess that’s fair, not very prophet like, but not unlike most men.

Part of the reason for the persecution of the Saints in Missouri was their friendliness and welcoming to the native Americans as well as blacks. It was preceded as a threat to the culture of the Missourians.

I think its amazing and i think it be to our great worth to listen, to pray about these things we are learning. I belueve its vitaly important to these last days of the last days that these thungs if we receive them as we should will increase our faith, our endurance through the very great tribulations that are very quickly going to be upon us. Thus is my humbke opion, what i feel deep in my soul. I have so much respectfor Chief Midegah andi could listen to him all day long. Thank you for thus podcast, especially we as LDS need to prayerfully listen and gain as much knowledge as we can in thus mortal life.

I often notice these prophecies but see Christ taken out. It occurred to me as I worked in government that I was not allowed to talk about Christ specifically. I had to go a round about way and speak in generalities and say “truth” or “light” and it seems many of these lost records often have Christ generalized to a moral theology or the culture saw it as a vain thing or worried it may reignite practices of human sacrifice. So when these come forth it makes sense how it survived the way it did. After all, the Bookmof Mormon states that the Lamanites made immense efforts to destroy the record of the Nephites, but there still were Nephite breakoffs. Laman and Lemuel and Cain and sons of Jacob mentality of “being wronged” and their brother made great ahead of them has generationally perpetuated a victim and offended mentality to their utter destruction, now it’s all being rebuilt but we need “forgiveness & repentance.”

I wholeheartedly agree! And so when Chief Midega tries to make the claim that “how dare the LDS church claim that we (The American Indigenous Peoples) don’t have the authority of the Priesthood because we never lost it…”, he’s making a false claim. I don’t think he understands the Keys of the Priesthood! It’s not good enough to be “Christlike” or be frankly good. Without the keys there’s no authority and without authority to administer the saving ordinances-it’s blasphemy!
@Larry19810

@@glavnijoe Good points. The restoration is for all people including Native Americans. Any lingering traditions they have should just prepare them to accept the restoration which requires individual conversion not group merging. The prophet Moroni was on the run for decades protecting the records from being obliterated. Any traditions maintained from those times are more like apocryphal stories. Useful for instruction with careful discernment and spiritual enlightenment, D&C 91:1-6. The people chasing Moroni did not have authority they could pass along. Similar to what happened in the old world when the Roman Pagans took over the remnants of the New Testament church. Even the 3 Nephites are there to help their people accept the restoration in the fullness of times. Similarly for the Jews, the Book of Mormon is for them and if Chief Midegah can help them open their eyes to the Book of Mormon and to Jesus Christ as the Messiah, he can do a great thing.

@Larry19810
@Larry19810 Месяц назад
@@latter-daywatch Did @glavnijoe misparaphrase him? I have heard similar on other channels where the authority claims of Chief Midegah are being defended. The discussion always seems to be about authority to represent his people / family. But there is a hint that the Church is somehow not recognizing this 'authority'. I strongly agree with Chief Midegah's complaint about his family heritage being denied because he also has European heritage. My own family took their tribal claim to the US supreme court (and lost) in the 1890's. I have no problem being part of multiple distinct family reunion groups but only our native heritage has been officially adjudicated against us. Every other family group welcomes us in just by showing the lineal descent. I think it is great that someone with Chief Midegah's educational background and related communication skills can build bridges between cultures and represent his people in a powerful way. If he uses these skills and his family heritage to point people to Christ, he will be doing a great thing. If he can open the eyes of Jewish leaders to recognize the purpose of the Book of Mormon, that will be fantastic.

Yeah, in the Maori culture in New Zealand they've had profits in the 1800s. That said, the true church would come from the East. They would carry two books with them and they would raise their right hand to the square when they prayed. So as you can see when the missionaries came down there, the culture took fire

Interesting prophesies. While Joseph smith was young during the first vision, he was not necessarily a “young boy” by today’s standards. He was a teenager by today’s standards so we need to know what the tribal elders considered the cut off for “young boy” as many indigenous tribes throughout the world have their young men and women married young, early to mid teen years, as well as many Europeans even as late as the 20th century. So I don’t think a 14 year old would be considered a young child, however it reminds me of the prophesy in Isaiah 11:6 and that is one of the books of Isaiah Nephi specifically wrote down for our day found in 2nd Nephi 21: 6
