Home Improvement is one of the only shows my family watched together as a child before they divorced. And the last that I saw with my Father before he passed. I wouldn't say it died, they had said enough. And chose to end it. This is still endearing and hilarious to me, it has a special place in my heart and fall asleep to it often.
Everyone has "their show" that they can watch over and over and over again without getting sick of it. Mine is Home Improvement. I own the whole series set and I just play them over and over again. Pilot through Season 8 Finale. I loved that show growing up and still do! It's wholesome, it's witty, it's clean. I wish we still had shows like this -- yes, Last Man Standing is funny and I appreciate their jokes AND ESPECIALLY references to the actors' former projects (as did HI with various Buzz Lightyear and Lion King references), but nothing beats HI.
Home Improvement was the last of the great American family comedies, however, it began to fade quickly by the eighth season which was a departure from the sitcom into dim depressing lackluster slop.
I hear ya. The last great sitcoms after HI were Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond, Malcolm In The Middle, King of Queens, The Bernie Mac Show and Everybody Hates Chris. Nowadays you can't find a show the whole family can or want to watch together.
Love the obvious references to Home Improvement. She's wearing flannel and the fence behind them is the same one they shared with Wilson. I loved Home Improvement.
24 years later they did this after the pilot. Now in 2021 we will get to see Mike Baxter meet Tim "the Tool Man" Taylor as he will visit in the final season of Last Man Standing. Should be interesting since Tim Allen will do both roles and he had to rewrite the role for Tim Taylor as he said the Last Man Standing writers first wrote him almost the same way for both characters. Created a lot of stress for him as he called it the most unpleasant episode he has ever done - but he likes how it turned out.
I have an amazing story if anyone's interested. One time I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. I started getting chills and I felt so comfortable with Him. I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would. So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..." I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly... I started getting flooded with chills inside, and started crying. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car. I've been getting answered prayers for around 5 years since, because that visitation eliminated doubt and I follow Biblical instructions as best as I can.
WE NEED HOME IMPROVEMENT REVIVAL SERIES!!!!! IF ROSEANNE AND WILL AND GRACE GOT ONE?? SHEEEITTT... SIGN ME IN FOR 6 MORE SEASONS WITH THE TAYLORS PLZ. What if Tim Taylor (now divorced) is trying his hardest to get a TOOL TIME REVIVAL (4th wall wink) and his sons run a business together which connects them to their dad -- and their mom now a successful therapist and living in a smaller place? idk. Maybe they decide to get remarried after a decade of divorce?! OMG PLZ
This is one of THE BEST SHOWS EVER! please do 10 more yrs! Then you can retire! ALL the cast are soo awesome! and PLEASE dont try to sneak in some PC message! We get enough of that crap in the rest of the media. The life that Mike baxter has is the dream life i wish i had (would like a boy as a one of the kids though lol) but never will thanks for keeping the dream alive at least for a few minutes..
Great tv couple The repoire and respect is still there. Home Improvement was a great family tv program. Now all we have is self entitled and absorbed tv star wanna be's on reality tv junk. Brain dead tv. How I miss the 80s and 90s
One question i want to know. On the episode where Tim is wearing a Kilt and in the outtake at the end Tim lifts his kilt flashing Jill, and then turns around and flashes again. i want to know if Tim did a full monty or was he wearing underwear. Judging by Jill's reaction and the audience....he was baring it all.
I just got to see this episode. I hope Helen Potts pops up more. Explain why she was at a Halloween fundraiser at an elementary school and why she enjoys a little glug glug. not to mention she's great. Patricia Richardson and Nancy Travis have some chemistry on camera. I wish they hadn't used Johnathan with a different name. but no one asked me.
Last Man Standing was better sitcom than Home Improvement because it's family dynamic was much more realistic and better than in Home Improvement. Tim's chemistry with Elizabeth Mitchell, Nancy Travis and Patricia Richardson were all different. I loved the fact that Tim played with Elizabeth, Nancy and Patricia their characters marriages in different ways. Tim and Patricia played their characters like they had a toxic and emotionally abusive marriage. Their characters were constantly at each other's throats and never really got along. Tim and Patricia's chemistry never really clicked the way that would've made their characters marriage actually likable, rooted and relatable. Tim and Jill's marriage was the weakest link in the show. Tim and Nancy had better chemistry than Tim and Patricia ever did. Mike was mostly being a mediator between his wife Vanessa and their daughters. Their hostile marital dynamic was similar to Tim and Jill but at least Mike and Vanessa's marriage was actually healthy, stable and loving. Tim has the best chemistry with Elizabeth. It's a very natural and passionate chemistry. There's real heat between them. What makes them great together is that they're creatively equals together and they always improvise their scenes together that differs from the script which makes their scenes even more better and real. Their characters marriage is the most healthiest, purest and stable one ever in film and television. Tim and Elizabeth play their characters marriage in a way that it matches to their real life friendship. The chemistry between these two is so captivating and intense, the spark was instant since their very first scene together. Tim and Elizabeth play their characters marriage as one that most people in real life can only dream of. Scott and Carol are not only one of the most healthiest TV relationships, it's also the most realistic. They tackle the most with how to parent their kids at the North Pole while maintaining an unbreakable bond while experiencing these issues. The thing about Carol and Scott is that all the challenges they face together only makes their marriage more deeper and stronger. The most funniest and lovable TV couple.
