I saw Exodus back in 1990, after a show in New Orleans and was invited inside the bus by Zetro. He was, without a doubt, the coolest and most gracious front man I've ever met. Didn't know me from Adam, but he singled me out because during their set, I was "Fuckin' Raging!" I was 18 at the time and played in a thrash cover band (yes, we played Toxic Waltz). To me, that was the greatest lineup, on the Bonded / Disaster/ Impact albums. Zetro's distinct vocals are a main ingredient in MY classic Exodus sound. Also Holt/Hunolt were amazing live...had a rare chemistry very obvious on stage. Just a great, great band. Love me some Gary and Steve. \m/
Charles De Long Bro some friends of mine were outside The Ritz in NYC (1990 PanterA, Exodus & Suicidal Tour) (I was already inside) Before the show started they saw Zetro on the street & got him stoned. lol. During the show he said "this next song is dedicated to the guys out back, Piranha!. It was great!
Rick added an insanity factor to the guitar team. I think guitar teams work better when one is the "anchor" and the other adds "color." Almost like a buddy-cop movie... one guy does it by the numbers, and the other guy fights Gary Busey to the death.
@hez1919 eh lee is in heathen and their songs are like 80x's harder. gary found a perfect guitarist to add for song writing and shit. heathen songs sound very progressive and have alot of rhythm changes
@UkrRusSlavic ahh thanx man i had no idea where this guy came from, never heard heathon though and i dont doubt his ability, just that it seems he was still newish to exodus when this vid was made, or the interview at least not the upload date
@hez1919 I saw them play last week in hollywood they fuckin tore the place up and when that song played i was moshing n stage diving to it, they played that song really well.
@MjmanDK i just mentioned this to the other dude that said the exact same thing you did, when this video was made the new guy cleaarly doesnt know the song, and im sure gary is sick of playing it, its like metallica is probably sick of playing enter sandman
Being a huge Heathen fan I frankly prefer Lee Altus over any other Exodus guitarist, but Holt is still the eExodus sound personified. Hunolt was no slouch either, but he doesn't have quite the same technical command of the guitar that Altus has.
hmmm im wondering if perhaps they dont play toxic waltz anymore, i seen them in 92, but it looks like gary didnt want to play it and the "new" guy doesnt even know it
Lee is a good guitarist, but not on the same level as Gary. As for Rob.... Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the vocals he does. I guess it's "heavier" than any of the other singers Exodus has had, but heavier isn't always better. He has that hardcore voice I find hard to stand. But that doesn't mean I don't like the last 3 albums Exodus has put out.
I disagree about Dukes sbeing the best singer. I do prefer Zetro over anyone, even Baloff but Dukes isn't bad; he's just not as unique as Baloff and Zetro in my opinion, but he's doing good things with Exodus right now adn Exodus with Dukes on vocals is better than no Exodus at all.
woahhhh there.... any true exodus fan knows rob is definitely not the best singer they've had..personally i like paul's vocals the best but i think steve did the best job by far, and metagores right once again rick hunolt is truly irreplaceable!
