I was having a good day until I heard "mob squeegee." After that my day was excellent.

The reasons why the two chest disconnect is that: to become a double chest they read the block grid/coordinates next to them to see if another chest is present, if so and it's not a double chest, they connect. When the structure is moving it is impossible to read the grid, and so they disconnect.

great design! add a second extendable piston perpendicular to the first and you should be able to have mobility in a full 2d grid without extending the chasis.

Thanks for the video! Also, using create and using this build for a drill, I connected an Ender Crate from Nature's Aura mod to it and back at my sorting system. And using pretty pipes mod it pulled the inventory directly out as it went. Again thanks for the video!

If you are on a even further updated version, this can be done rather cheaply using a Portable Storage Interface and a Gantry Carriage.

You could use a few repeaters to take the place of the sequenced gearshift and then you wouldn't have the 50 extender limit plus you can build a contraption that could (hopefully) automatically build conveyors so that way you could just sit back and relax while it does all the work for you!

If your pulley doesn't go down, you might've glued it to the chasis. Take away the glue then it works

If you want to go further than fifty blocks, use the Create Mod's adjustable repeater. It takes 4 or 5 seconds to go five blocks with a mechanical piston, so you can use a button into a five-second delay into a not gate into a clutch.

You could funnel the items onto the belt, that way you don't need it to return every time after drilling

Just a question but... do you know the max size for how large the drill can get? I've got a bit of a large mining project going in an SPS world going. (I'm mining out an entire 10 chunk by 10 chunk section of the world.) Being able to mine out a 16 x 16 area all at once, layer by layer would make the project much more manageable.

I did this with gantry shafts so it can go up down and go along the x and z axis i think

If you have to add blocks anyway why not use Redstone contacts to move it over automatically?

Instead of relocating the chassis to expand, would it be possible to put a smaller version of this contraption on a minecart chassis? Or would that not work?

Hey jsut a tip not 100% sure if this wa sin the agme at this point but there's a portable storage interface that will make it so moving contraptions cans top and drop their items onto a conveyer or jsut directly into a chest or along that

I just had an idea; what if you ran the extendable quarry on a Minecart assembler and just stopped it at each new point. You'd be able to expand it without adding piston poles or moving the piston when it reaches max range. Plus you can probably add a power system on the assembly like a mini windmill to power the whole thing each time it's placed! All you have to do is place rails and move the assembler to a new location, thus only needing to use two. What do you think?

wow, watching this on it's one year anniversary, and it still works

i build it - followed instructions and it works! i play on a newer version, so somethings were different but it works :) doesnt seem to go alllll the way down though? Is the ropepully only allowing it to go 64 blocks down or something? I also just build a giant water wheel instead of windmill/engine - works too. The last part of the belt isnt moving? The belt is separated into 2 long parts - do you have to do something specific, or can u just "only" make it one max belt length long? Great video btw, BUT i would probably say the thing about "the typical error is" way earlier :b

so those transposer are not in my version any idea what i could do besides those and im made the same mining rig u did got it to finally work in single creative had some stuff i need to work on so find why mine was not working and i finally did but now i cant find a way to transfer items out of the chest.. playyin on deceased crafts modern zombie apocalypse

Would it be possible to offload onto the belt down the side instead of pulling it back to the start to offload each time?

i had a problem with the rope pully that it wont got down i fixed it by moving the chassis from on top of it to its side and it worked

Is it possible to put this on a rotating platform and turn in 5-10 degrees? So you can do a full 360 and mine out everything in a 50 block radius?

Hey mate loved your video, I just wanted to point out that this design could be simplified even more using gantry shafts, gantry carriage, clutches, and some redstone.

in wich version of minecraft are you playing because in 1.15.2 you need to power the saw and drill from behind using a shaft

What resource pack are you using and where did you get the Create extension for it?

I tried doing exactly what you said and once I completed it everything was running fine until all of a sudden the entire drill deleted itself, didn't think this normally happens and wondered if there was a fix to getting it back without having to remake the entire thing.

Okey off chance but eh, I Followed you're Tutorial slapped a windmill (max) next to it and it worked Wonderful, Until the 15m mark (actually 14) everything is set up correctly, thou fore some reason it will not go past 14m. (the piston without the drill will go the full 50 blocks) any help ? ( maybe bc I'm on 1.18.2 ? (Live with Create 3 forge modpack) )

so is there no way to have this move on both the X and the Z axis, so you're not just mining out a strip?

I found out what makes the structure disappear, its 100% reproducible. Whatever you do, do not make the block the rope pulley is touching sticky on all sides.

Can you do this same method horizontally using another piston instead of a pulley?

For some reason the first time I had drilled to bedrock it had broken some of the drills and then i had rebuilt it and now the rope pilot won’t go down no matter which way the belt is going Any help?

It’s still a WIP, but I made a 3 axis quarry, as opposed to your 2 axis. What you need is 2 gantries on the X axis 1 on top of the x axis gantries for the Z axis And the rope down for the Y axis It’s too complicated to really talk about, but it is still cool

FOR EVERYONE WHO GOT THE CONVERYOR TO MOVE BUT THE PULLY NOT GOING DOWN I used a more powerful power source like the furnace engine and flywheel that has enough to make this monster move Edit: Also the shaft moves either clockwise or counterclockwise to make the pully go up that’s also an alternative it works with or without the furnace engine I used a windmill instead of the water wheel

so i have a problem with this when i built it. When i activated it to move 5 blocks after pulling up, when it moved it seemed to move like 0.1 blocks too far and the rope pully could not connect to the shafts in the belt. Is there a way to fix this?

My rope pulley is moving in the wrong direction, on top of that the mechanical belt connected to the original one doesn’t spin.

for some reason the second I connect the rope pulley to the build, the piston no longer can move. Any help?

I built this and everything seemed to work great until it drilled deep (possibly close to bedrock?) and now the rope pulley appears to be stuck! I flipped the switch on the gearshift and it's turning the other way to pull the rope back up, but nothing happens. Any idea what could cause that (and how I can fix it)?

Hey I’m having a problem when I click the button to move it up 5blocks it just doesn’t move and when I remove the blocks in front of the piston only the piston moves can I have any help?

I built this in the nether but the rope pulley refuses to move the platform down. The rope pulley works when there's no blocks under it, so I can't imagine what the problem might be. Do you have any suggestions?
