Since this was my son’s friend’s first time clamming, we wanted them to experience the whole process.
First, we showed them how to rake the clams in different areas. We like to keep the saltwater in the bucket so the clams would purge themselves before we scrub them clean.
Since I am not fully experienced in shucking the clams, I freeze them for around an hour before shucking them. It makes the process easier. We use lemon and Tabasco. We also use a Korean cocktail sauce on a few of them.
After we enjoyed the raw clams, we started to grill them with scallions and olive oil. We also grilled them with Parmesan cheese.
The experience was priceless for our son friend’s.
Thank you for watching. Please don’t forget to click subscribe and like.

Hey Kon you’re killing yourself with that rake. It looks like a garden rake. What you need are a few scratch rakes from a company called RA Ribb in Rhode Island. The right rake will make all the difference in the world. If there’s steamers around you can use a steamer rake and work in rows. You should also tread lightly because you can put the clams down which will cut down on your numbers. The teeth or tines should just be gliding under the surface as you work in lanes. You always want to walk forward as you scratch because walking backwards will put them down cutting down on your catch big time. Next time you go let me know and I’ll show you how a commercial clammer does it!

Great feedback! This is very useful information. I will look into the rake. I do have another clam rake that is better but small. Will try your method next time.
