Perhaps my biggest challenge when visiting Spain is not to eat too much. Good food all around.

Muy mal 🙈 Primero se pone el tomate bien restregado que empape el pan y luego se rocía con el aceite. Y una pizca de sal optativo. Se lo dice una catalana, nacida en Barcelona. 😂 El pan con tomate es lo mas saludable del mundo, Lo que no es saludable son los bacon, franckforts, y frites de plástico, patatad fritas. 😊 Y los refrescos con azucares. Y otras sustancias.

Great vlog, Spanish breakfasts are great. I did a vlog about 4 years ago near Cadiz and paid a similar price ($3ish) for a mollete de jamon Serrano with an iced Americano. Prices have definitely gone up since then. Tend to find that the spots near the industrial areas of town have the best breakfasts of course.

In Valencia city €2.90 for Cortado with Pan con Tomate y olive oil y sal.

I love the Spanish breakfast down here in the south with cured ham as well as the tomato. But I can live with both versions! 😊

Stu, that was as close as you can get to an Italian brusettia, BUT it lacked one key ingredient, fresh garlic rubbed into the bread. If you get it right it's paraiso.

That's a very generous portion of tomato usually It's not much more than just a smearing of tomato .

Good video. Not sure I'd go to your place though. I get tostada entera con tomate y café cortado for 2,80 with bread from horno de leña. No skimping on the olive oil, either. I'm now really fussy about the tomato for my toast. Needs to be grated, fresh tomatoes, not whizzed up with a batidora and certainly not from, shock horror, tinned tomatoes.

Disappointed you didnt rub the bread with garlic first. Usually needs salt. You can leave out the tomato all together and just have salt and olive oil. I love it.

That's a deal Stu. The bread in Spain is so good. I live in Metro Denver . A coffee like that would be 1.97 Euros and that is not a coffee bar but a restaurant. So the coffee would not have a design on the top nor foam, which I like and might be quite bitter. You might get some nice bread like you got but not for that price ! I can't compare your breakfast with toast, tomatoes and olive oil. I have never seen that here in the USA. I did see the coffee bar you went to had avocado toast. I saw it was under 5.00 Euros. So here in Metro Denver the average price depending on where you go to eat starts at 6.71 euros up to 17.87.

Maybe you confuse our almuerzo with desayuno. The majority of the people in this country have breakfast between 6 and 7 in the morning, depending of their jobs, and almuerzo break around 10 or 11 in the morning. You already know that Spaniards usually have their main lunch around 2 pm, but it will depend on the work of each one. For example for field workers it's usual to begin working at 6 am and to have their main lunch around 1 pm. It won't be the same for those who work in shops from those working in industry lines or in agriculture. The "cena" (dinner) will be around 8 pm for those who have to "madrugar" (get up early) but would be extremely unusual to find Spaniards dining at 6 or 7 pm, at that time we have the "merienda" (an afternoon light lunch). So to give you a view of all the Spanish daily eating protocol: 1st "desayuno"=breakfast, 2nd "almuerzo"= mid morning light lunch, 3rd "comida"=lunch, 4th "merienda"=afternoon lunch, 5th "cena"=dinner. It's easy. I don't believe that you didn't know that!

I've got a few campo ventas trained to my requirements when having my weekly motorcycle rides , consisting of bacon in buttered mollete with cafe cortado and copita de brandy, usually about 3.50-4€.❤

Just down the street from our house; Cup of coffee, pastry or breakfast sandwich is a similar price. Approximately 4 euros.

Cheaper than Sydney. You need an old fashion vegemite and butter toast cheese sandwich

Wow, no paper cups or plates - love that. I’m going to have to try olive oil on bread. Recently I had a flavored latte for $6.45 and a small muffin for $3.95 at Starbucks, and the obligatory tip. Of course at Starbucks they play the music too loud, they get the order wrong about 30% of the time, and the stores are often dirty - it’s easier to use the drive-thru. Fun video. Thanks!

If you can find an Andalusian 'serranito' sandwich on a 'mollete' roll you won't regret it. beats the pants off an avocado toast.

The pan con tomate y aciete looks lovely, it is our favourite breakfast in Spain, In Malaga they is usually a bottle of olive oil on the table, at least where we have been. 👍

There is a breakfast here in Lanjarón popular with the old guys, of toast coffee and cognac, and ever anxious to fit in, I have it with a cortado and marmalade - I´m unsinkable until lunchtime.

The cafetería looks English! Good _café con leche_ and _tostada de tomate_ (al fresco) in Cartagena = €2.20. The bread should be fresh and lightly toasted. Our local coffee brand is *Cavite* and is available in many bars and restaurants in this city.

3.80 euros? Doesn't get you coffee in SF Bay Area 😢. Well probably with the conversion it does 😜.

I prefer my bread toasted, but, the quality and freshness here in Barcelona can vary.. The prive is good, coffee and a sandwhich here is 5€s minimum

That has to be the most upmarket place in Spain to eat breakfast. Here you normally have an old guy who starts his cigarette and then starts walking outside, by the time he gets to the door he has finished so walks back to his table. Normally watched by the Guardia at the counter having a quick coffee and brandy before their shift. Here the tomato is already spread and the olive oil is in bottles on the table and the bread is a small baguette in half not like yours which is slanted

I sporadically visit your channel due to lack of time but at least I'll my comment to increase your YT trraffic 😏 My view is you still got good price to quality ratio, comparable to Andalucian prices and it most be noted this is Madrid ! My fav cafeteria is also close to main roundabout in town but the difference with Costa del Sol cafeterias is that most of chairs and tables are outside due to a higher chance of pleasant weather in comparison to Madrid. The roundabout itself is filled with subtropical plants, obviously Costa gets better views versus (arguably) Madrid more interesting life in many aspects. By the way, please excuse me my last random comment on Boston in the UK during your last session. I had no idea you read all live chat comments during the session. The comment was half-jokingly 😏 because you said "Boston...obviously the USA" and I spent considerable time in and near Boston, MA and I knew some of the names in the US are borrowed fron old England (York etc.) but only recently, after years realized it applies also to capital of MA state as someone was complaining about their UK city being notoriously confused with the American Boston, that has become much more recognizable in the world. By the way, I do not know how you did that, but thank you for pronouncing correctly my Polish name during last live session 😊 My guess is that your proficiency in Spanish may sometimes provide good intuitions on how pronounce other European words.

My daughter in Seville said she had breakfast/brunch at 11.30am - a sevilliano de pringá en mollete con un huevo frito - that might suit the bacon and eggs brigade better? I’ve never tried it. Has anyone?

Not a bad price to be fair. Where we are (Frigiliana nr. Nerja) the prices are anywhere between €2 and €5 for a coffee & tostada, depending where you go, we try to go to the proper locals places and not the tourist spots (of which there are plenty round here!)

Its always relaxing watching other people work thats why rich people live alot longer I reckon. If it's what you want when you want it then it's value for money

Cannot abide torrefacto coffee, the prices in that cafe seem very reasonable, I had a coffee and a scone recently in a local cafe in Ireland and was charged €6.25 absolute rip off.

looked nice but my last tostada and coffee, in Calp, back in June was 2.40e and I got 2 mini oils with it. Still not as good as the days when most places just put the bottle on the table though

Great breakfast Stu..my favourite when we're in spain.. one thing though, if the churros are done properly they have half the calories gram for gram as a plain biscuit..maybe you should rethink your breakfast😊

Down here in inland Andalucia your coffee would be in a glass (no handle).

I was going to say the breakfast is not good. Like carbs? Stuffing myself with carbs early in the morning is not the way to go.
