Experiencing Final Fantasy IV For The First Time... (FF4 Reactions) 

Haha ... when I first played FF4 back in the SNES day, I also _did not_ understand the battle between Cecil and his Dark Knight self, and continued attacking for nearly half an hour, using up most of my items in the process and I don't know how I managed to survive it, only that eventually I had to resort to healing every turn, then somehow the battle was won. A different RU-vid channel described FF4's creative direction as being in the hands of "Mr. Story" and "The Theater Kid", and the game at which "Final Fantasy became itself".

This was awesome - the FFIV soundtrack is one of my favorite of all time, the themes and battle tracks😍 Nice playthrough!

As someone who grew up with these games and was the biggest fanboy it's been a pleasure reliving the magic with you as you experience them for the first time. Glad to see you enjoying them.

For me, one of the two best 2D FFs with FF6, and I still can't decide which one of the two I like better. FF4 was especially crazy for its time (even if I personally played it on PS1), a giant leap in the saga compared with the previous 3 episodes. The story, the multiple maps, the characters... Cecil and Kain were especially well written. I like the little details, like for example the fact that Tellah is the only main character to really never come back: it was the only one "dying" not for his comrades, but for vengeance. Aside from that, it seems you did a easy version compared to mine (which had the original difficulty of the first japanese version). FF4 was way harder than FF5 or FF6, but actually I liked that, it made the fights really epic, even if I had to farm a little. The last dongeon was especially full of near-unsurmontable bosses, and even at level 80 I had so much trouble against Zeromus lol. I hope you do FF9 one day, with FF7 it's my favorite FFs.

Aside from the side game of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, FFIV (under the name of FFII) was my first Final Fantasy. Back then, they weren't taking a "Bomb Ring" to Mist, it was just called "Package." So when "the package mysteriously opened!" and a horde of Bombs came out and set the town ablaze? Total surprise. I am glad, however, to see that the name being more indicative of its purpose doesn't ruin the shock.

This is my favorite FF game, but I'm greatly biased because it was the first one I ever played. I prefer the original english version of the Mysidian legend (but again, I'm biased). There were some pretty good poorly translated lines in the game. My favorite was when you fought the Mist Dragon "Fighting when mist will freeze you with breath". I LOVED having baby Rydia and training her from scratch. I was chronically overleveled but I was always so proud when she started kicking butt. I never understood when I was little that Paladin Cecil wasn't supposed to fight the Dark Knight in Mt. Ordeal. And in the original snes ff2 version of the game if you keep fighting, eventually the game just gives up and lets you pass. The last battle where everyone appears to Cecil and the crew gives me chills to this day. (I have this idea that someday we'll have a game where the player can speak to the characters. I'd love to have an ending fight like that where the player could call out to the characters and give them advice or strength. We have the technology. It just hasn't been done yet as far as I know) To this day: I've never managed to encounter a Pink Puff on the moon let alone get the Pink Tail item.

My absolute favorite FF game, although the animations are a bit wierd. Rosa and Rydia seem to have peak "fantasy woman armor". Most white mages wear robes. Rosa wears what appears to be a thong bikini and thigh high boots

Man, "Witness my ultimate spell!" just doesn't hit as hard as Tellah's line for casting Meteor in the DS remake, "Let my life fuel the spell that ends his!"

As many heartaches as FF4 gave me with me forgetting to save after long periods of time _so many_ times, this is my favorite entry. Of course, I am a little biased because this was my first legitimate introduction into the series after just simply watching FF10 and FF15 playthroughs on RU-vid.

The SNES version of this was my first Final Fantasy. I've since played the Playstation version which had a new translation and restored features cut from the English SNES release such as Dark Knight Cecil's darkness ability and other simplifications. I played the GBA version, but only got so far because it lost my save. I even played the 3D DS remake. But to this day I've yet to beat Zeromus legitimately.

A little late on this, but here's a piece of (perhaps useless) trivia: the names of the 4 lords of elements and Calcabrina's (the giant doll boss) come from a cohort of demons (the Malebranche, the "bad claws" in ancient form of Italian) from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. Scarmiglione (which I understand looks quite challenging in terms of spelling) is supposed to be pronounced something on the line of scar-mee-LYO-neh (that GL sound is similar to LL in spanish) and it roughly translates to "he who deshevels", Cagnazzo is ka-NYA-tso and it means "bad dog", Barbariccia is supposed to be said bar-ba-RICH-cha (which, weirdly enough means "curly beard"), Rubicante is ruby-KHAN-teh and it can be translated as "rubicund". Calcabrina is kal-ka-BREE-na and means "hoar-frost rider". Great vids by the way!

Glad you liked it. FF4 is fav among alot of older ff fans. Sakaguchi finally was able to balance out the storytelling and gameplay and it get's miles better with 5. For me ff4 is not one of my favs, but the pixel remaster fixed alot of issues I had with other versions of the game so I'm happy about it. Also there is a sequel for FF4 called after years that was made for DS if you ever want tp check it out. FF5 is one of my fav from classic FFs. Easly second best one, and I think you will like the bad guy for 5. He's easly the funniest main bad guy in the series. Fun fact this was first game Nomura worked on as debuger and starting with next one he became the monster designer for 5 and 6. Kitase also get's more involved with 5 until he becomes director of FF6.

One of my favorite game in the Final fantasy series. I don't know how many times I complete this game. Question: Did you cut the moment you collect Leviathan, Ashura, Odin and bahamut or you miss them? Also did you play the sequels of FFIV? FFIV: The after years?
