Experimental Fretless Bass Grooves with Delay #2

Having some fretless fun with a delay pedal, some triplets, chords & a bit of chorus. I recorded the bass with an Ebs Microbass II preamp/DI, with all analog pedals through the fx send/return. I used a Carl Martin Delayla xl, an Ebs Unichorus & an Ebs Multidrive on the last part. It’s crazy but because of you I got back into playing bass and forgot how much I love this instrument. For many years I’ve felt like a loser and felt I wasn’t naturally good at anything, but after one of your videos magically appeared in my feed I grabbed my dusty bass and haven’t looked back since. When I started playing bass back in 1972 I never imagined the evolution the intrument would go through in the next 30 years. I was lead to believe that in order to compose one had to use a keyboard or guitar. But one can actually compose on bass guitar too. What you have is not only a groove but a fully formed composition.

Scott Davis it’s a reflection of how low the standards have been lowered in the name of quantity $. I don’t mean to generalize, but the larger portion of the consuming mass tend to be satisfied with crappy, soulless, repetitive, manipulative, submissive instructional type of shit that keeps people from thinking for themselves. I guess there’s enough people in the world to balance it out. Some people like shitty comercial “Satan’s cock suckers” type of music, as Bill Hicks once described, others just like Art!

@Matthew Lawton If you compare the basslines on Southbound Pachyderm and Wynonas BBB to his usual slap-fest, I think Claypools range is actually quite vast. He also defaults to a 6-string fretless to play metal, which is a bit like using a Harley Davidson as your go-to speedway bike.

Well you can see all the solo projects and the Lennon Delirium band and you'll see that Claypool is pretty flexible too. That' being said Remco is still my favorite bassists on the all youtube game.
