It's probably glue residue or dirt that slipped thru the crack between the upper and the abstract sole. This is real, I did this to my pair once the abstract part wore down.
I have abstracts and they have little slits between the ramone and abstract sole. Dirt and dust can easily get in there. And from the ones in the video he definitely wore them greatly.
