I've already seen a lot of comments saying that he didn't do it....? Huh? Is this a thing? He himself apologized and cited a couple specific things. In Brockhampton's statement, they said, "We were lied to". You can argue that art and morality should be separate, you can argue that kicking him out was too harsh, but you can't argue that he hasn't done anything wrong

Alfo Media I actually don't agree with your point about BH's label (around 6:00) because R. Kelly and Chris Brown are both still with RCA. I kinda believe that Ameer left on his on accord, because he knew he had to, which explains why Joba, Dom, and apparently Kevin were crying at their show in Boston. In any event, I hope this means that Dom will get to shine more in BH's music.

Alfo Media I agree with what he did being wrong (obviously). Before I argue my point I just wanna say that if I had to pick a member to be my least favorite musically speaking, it's Ameer, so don't worry I'm not saying he should stay because I like the way he raps. What I'm trying to argue against is that Ameer is a bad person. I hate and am shocked when people who loved him all of a sudden are saying you're supporting an abuser when people support Ameer, constantly putting that label on him, as if he's less than human and that's all he's worth... Isn't that kinda what Brockhampton is against? Although he was my least favorite member musically, I could still really appreciate what he'd been through when hearing his lyrics, which I still don't find as good as other members' lyrics, but they really show his issues he had at school with racism, and home with his dad who would beat his mother, and outside with drugs and violence. He also described the very wrong things he did in the past, and how he's moving past them and how he wants to be better so badly, and actually is getting better. I don't see how you could think that Ameer is all of a sudden a bad person. He's made some mistakes, some pretty big ones, but they're direct causes of his experience growing up (abused becomes the abuser) AND they're also big parts of shaping him into the changed person he was today a person that was part of a boyband and best friends with someone who's gay and wanted to have a positive impact on the world. With all the information out, I wouldn't have gone as far as kicking him out if I was in Brockhampton, because I don't think that will help him, but I'm not in Brockhampton, and this is only what I can see from the outside, so I'm trusting Brockhampton and hoping this will be for the best for everyone. I really hope Ameer still gets his chance to better himself through music and expressing himself, and I wish them all the best of luck and if you're a fan, then actually be a fan and support them, because they need the support now. And that includes Ameer, because I think he needs it most.

+Docbngrl9113 The point I think Alfo Media was trying to make was that brockhampton just got signed. Compared to R. Kelly and Chris Brown who were making RCA loads of money before their allegations. Especially where the money RCA is making from those two is nowhere close to the money brockhampton would be bringing in right now.

Brockhampton was always about calling out bullshit where ever it comes up - and that includes when it's bullshit from people you trust. It sucks, but it was 100% the right choice to let him go. This isn't just about business or the label, it's about not being hypocrites. Ameer is talented, and maybe one day when he's proven he can be a better person, that talent won't be wasted.

I don't know man, I think it's gonna be bitter to listen to them from now on. I agree that business wise this was the best step, but personally, I disagree with it - mostly because he has mentioned his past problems so many times, through songs, instagram, videos, twitter, what have you. He knows what he did was wrong and he really shows it. And of course it was. But nobody is being helped by this shitstorm - the victims will not heal just because he was kicked out of the group and he will not find and continue on a more positive path by being kicked out. There has to be more to it than we know, since they are willing to go this far - we have, have, to give people a chance to better themselves. He was a teen on drugs. He isn't anymore and he knows what he did was not acceptable at all. He was hiding from a past he regretted, its all over the lyrics from especially Bleach and Milk. My point is, he wants to be better. He has been better for a while. They should stand with him personally, but I get why they would do this for PR (or if there's more to it than we know as fans). And I have to disagree, they will not get better from here. That's just not possible. Yeah, they're gonna have better production and bigger opportunities, but the soul of it is gone.... My main point being; They were a family. And he had the grit, the "realness", the edge of the group. He brought something no other band member had, a perspective from the streets. Now it's gone. Not blaming anyone but Ameer for that, by the way - they did what they felt was the best. But it's not the same anymore, every song from now on by "Brockhampton" is gonna miss "Ameer Vann" in the member list.

I don't think he got kicked out, I feel like it was his decision. Consider if he stayed, it would look bad on BH to their target audiences, and would create traction with their RCA label deal (Their label would get backlash for supporting an alleged artist). Look at that performance at Boston, when Joba and Kevin teared up, they didn't want to make the conclusion. So yeah Ameer probably understood he would hinder the success of BH, and left for the TEAM. edit: whoever flagged my comment, understand this situation should be seen with an open perspective, and we shouldn't jump to conclusions on both sides of the debate.

To me, Ameer being a part of Brockhampton is not an insult and actually reinforces that they are such a safe space, because of the wrong things he did in the past, it shows how being able to be around these friends who understood and supported him and being able to express his problems and the wrong things he did in his music helping him change, and if someone held a gun to my head and made me pick my least favorite member, musically speaking, I'd pick Ameer, but I still really really loved the guy and felt for him like I felt for the others. It shows how someone can change in the right environment, and become a part of something that is against what he himself used to be in the past. All in all, I'm sad to see him kicked, but the choice isn't mine to make, and I'm trusting Brockhampton with the choice they've made. Some people in the comments need to understand that the criminal justice system is not laid out to help victims, or at least not to make life easy for them. The abuser is innocent until proven guilty, after all. A guy I know finally had charges pressed against him for rape, but it will take at least another year before it's taken to court. In the meantime, the victim has to deal with the this trauma constantly. Many victims of abusive relationships or sexual assault choose to just get out of it when they can and try to move on - its easier than going through the justice system and having to re-live the trauma again and again, and for what? The abuser might not even get a sentence. Now I'm not saying I know what happened between Ameer and his accusers, but it is so so important to listen to these people, and understand that they find strength in numbers and realising that they are not alone. We also need to recognize that we don't know the whole story, and kicking a best friend out of the group could not have been an easy decision. It can't just be because Ameer was a "shitty boyfriend." Consider the weight of the decision, then consider what it must have taken for them to make that decision.

Ameer himself has had a hard life, and has made mistakes and done bad things in the past, but has been making a huge effort to improve himself and become a better person. Twitter freaks wanting to "cancel" him and ruin his life because of his past actions to me seems like they don't understand what growing as a person is, and don't really want someone to atone and learn from their mistakes and be a better person in the future, they just want to crucify and condemn them.

this is the worst excuse ive seen for defending ameer. youre basically saying that because a lot of people do fucked up shit, then ameer should be able to do it too? i like brockhampton just as much as anybody else, but i dont discriminate artists just because they make better music. if whatever artist did something fucked up, they should have consequences too. even ameer.

ReviewsOfTime I dont think that’s what he was trying to say. I believe he meant it’s just unfair how assholes in the music industry do fucked up shit (maybe worse than Ameer) and get away with it, but somebody like Ameer who’s trying to better himself gets punishment. While what Ameer got might have been deserved, it’s incredibly unfair when you consider a lot of other people’s situations in the music industry.

Part of what made Brockhampton so appealing to me is that they're just a group of friends, kicking someone out of that bond to me, seems like kicking someone out of your friendship group and that to me puts me off more than what Ameer did. I don't think kicking their best friend out was the right idea and he was getting help even though that doesn't right his wrongs i know. Ian didn't want to join a label in Mmerican boy band so i don't think they did this not to lose the label or because of the label, i think there's a lot of information that we as fans still don't know so i don't want to be against Ameer because of allegations. Maybe im wrong, im not trying to start arguments, just stating my view. Peace.

If I knew a friend of mine was abusive in several cases and lied to me about it after promising to work on it I really wouldn't wanna be their friend anymore tho. Friendship with a person who's abusive and lying about it to me, a friend, who's trying to help, wouldn't be a possible thing for me. So it's understandable that the boys didn't let him stay, for personal as for PR reasons. I hate that this happened and that he has to leave just as much as the next guy but also I can understand the decision. Plus if they really felt like cutting him off would be easy why would they react so emotionally, like we saw them do? I do think that they feel terrible about all this as well and aren't happy with these decisions, but I can understand why they chose to act this way. It's just a shame that he ended up failing those girls and his close friends like this. And before somebody says the accusations might be fake, you really think Kevin and the others would not clarify that even if they had to be careful cuz of PR? They're so close I don't think that they would just do all this if they did not absolutely believe/know that Ameer did these things and that he didn't change/didn't put enough work into changing. Abuse is awful. I do hope that he's working on changing and that their friendship can be fixed after he does get proper help but I do think that this was the right, if a tragic decision and I do not think they failed him as a friend. Edit: I apologize for any errors btw English isn't my first language I hope I could get my point across somewhat tho

my mom was affected by relationship abuse by my father. it`s been about 13 years or so since they had divorced, cut off other contact that doesn`t have to do with me you could say my dad "has changed". but memories don`t just fade away. i am very much sure my mother has grown extremely fearful of being in close proximity to him. just because abusers can move on from their mistakes, doesnt mean that victims can just pick up so easily. I`m going to miss ameer but like when you have 8 girls saying you were evil to them, I`m not going to side with you so easily because you say are changing.

Gotta go back and take his verses out, I guess. That's why it's being pushed back. The interesting thing is how collaborative Brockhampton is. So, he might've been a huge creative part of more than a few songs. I'm guessing they would completely get rid of the songs that were mostly "his ideas".

I feel like that would be, tho maybe necessary as a marketing choice, very disrespectful towards Ameer and what they've built together as a group and as friends. Parting ways with him is fine, dismissing work that he's done with and for the group is a bit too much imo...
@Brandon-xd5uc

I really hope they don't cut Ameer out of the songs. I don't even know how you rewrite a song after taking out one or two verses, they'll have to write it from the ground up again if that's the case. That's not even to mention a song or two where Ameer is the main event, something along the lines of a TEETH or a STAINS sorta song where it's literally just Ameer with the main verses. I personally think that they'll just leave him in the songs, because why would they waste time trying to unwrite songs that are already great? They might just "go home to regroup" and then come back and release the album immediately when all the press has died down. They'll probably also throw in a different outro song that has to do with the whole situation just for closure, because I don't really see them not mentioning the whole drama at all on the album, something will be on there. Worst case scenario is that they scrap the whole album (for the second time this year) and start from scratch without Ameer, which would be fucking tragic. All we can hope for is that this doesn't drastically change Brockhampton, because Ameer was one of the strongest people in the group, especially with him being on all 3 album covers (it's gonna be SUPER awkward after he's gone because of the album covers). Please god don't change the album covers. Please.

What scares me the most about this is that ameer is gonna be alone....he’s been isolated from where he creates, his home, his family(the group)....from what I know he has had addictions and been through some shit, and he really did represent that light in the music for me .... of this raw flow and true nature...that I will say I enjoyed so much. Some of my favorite songs are from ameer and I don’t know if the label kicked him off or BH or ameer decided to leave but what I do know too... Is that we aren’t meant to be alone in our suffering for healing I have heard and read a lil bit about certain allegations and I don’t know enough to say that what ameer did or not do But if they are true I don’t think that -isolation- Is gonna help a man w/sexual issues (if he is guilty,cause I personally don’t know) The men in our country have suppressed sexual urges that come into aggression and from my readings of the comments and this video some BH fans don’t care enough and don’t want this rift in the band But tbh which is something that this video just really messed me up on and I’m gonna be brutally honest Is I truly am listening and trying to be by someone’s side of being a victim of physical mental sexual abuse But I do question What is the truth? Where is the evidence? Why do I question this persons experience? So with that being said it’s sad that men assault and rape. That people are questioned if they really are a victim. That people will make terrible decisions and have to suffer the consequences I am not trying to demean the METOO movement or belittle a mans consequences for his actions but we need to be wise and learn to be Knowledgable that we come from a country of pain And what can we try and do now to change this? - I send my love to BH, I met them at a concert once and I was touched so much by Kevin’s kindness he wrapped his arm around me...and I felt so right in the world. It’s so dramatic but we need to start change and we should all really learn from BH with such a big platform now and with what happened with ameer I don’t really know how to feel now and continue on - A BH fan

Mo uh no, i can honestly say i’ve never done that, lmao. comparing someone being accused of abuse by multiple women to the salem witch trials is beyond reaching and honestly just extremely ignorant. brockhampton stated that they were lied to, which implies to me that they came upon new information about the situation that we haven’t been made aware of. regardless of that, ameer only owning up to the least severe of the accusations doesn’t mean he’s innocent of the rest and i’m not exactly inclined to believe anything he says at this point, either. i stand by the victims here no matter how much of a fan i was of ameer.

ashlyn marie What else was BH supposed to say "Oh our twitter stans are forcing us to kick Ameer out"? The accuser knew what she was doing, waiting for him to start being successful and then ruin his career. @plushbats
@plushbats 6 лет назад
Johny Man most abuse victims are afraid to even go to the police in the first place because they know the odds of them actually getting justice are extremely low. that being said, we don’t even know for sure that ameer’s victims haven’t. you can believe whatever you’d like but at the end of the day, brockhampton has made their decision, and we’re all just outsiders in this situation who will never know everything that happened. that’s what’s so tricky about these situations, but generally speaking, it’s better to be on the side of the victim.

So true. I think the people saying "good decision don't want an abuser" are naive as fuck as well as the uploader in question. I understand this and I understand people’s concern that a culture of this is brewing but equally I think the wording of the statement counteracts this. “We were lied to” really feels like the members of Brockhampton got the whole truth from Ameer, and whilst obviously pressure from fans will have influenced the decision, I don’t think ‘proof’ is what’s necessary here.
@MrSuckapples

I think proof is always necessary when making a judgment call on someone. The only thing I can truly hope is that BROCKHAMPTON keeps moving forward past this, and that Ameer really does start to improve his behavior. In no way should enjoying his music be an afront to his victims, nor should acknowledging his victims be an afront to him as an artist. Damn..this feels like character and career assasination.I feel as though this could have been dealt with in a more efficient way for everyone and he would not have had to leave.looking back on the situation now it does look like those fans pulling for him to get kicked played some role in this happening

Ameer is the only person many can relate to. Without him the majority of the hiphop community will probably stop listening. He was a man who would made mistakes and admitted to them while seeking redemption. Even if he steps away from the group to build on himself, the twitter stans part of the fanbase might not accept him. Side not Chris Brown and R.Kelly are both signed with RCA so no point in saying that label wont accept this kind of stuff.

Hey man, thanks for the video. Not gonna knock you on your opinion, this is a really grey matter where there is no right and wrong. It's very subjective and based on perspective. My view comes straight from Kendrick's "Mortal Man" in TPAB. When shit hits the fan is you still a fan. The song argues that people in general are not black and white in morality and in a sense everyone is flawed. Not gonna say the shit Ameer did is justified and I have nothing but soft feelings for the victims. But to me it sounds like throwing him out of the group for some of the terrible things he has done in the past is too harsh, it doesn't give him a chance to make up for his past actions and it just leads to no one being happy (including victims). I believe there was another way that could have benefitted everyone, but I do understand that Brockhampton is like an incarnation of its fans. If the fans are demanding punishment to Ameer they will listen because they are a group that is born for the fans. Either way, whats done is done and I just hope Ameer doesn't go back to bad habits and can make progress to become a better person.

I’m kinda glad that he got kicked out, after he did leave joba and bearface were given time to shine. And keeping him in would’ve gone against all of what BH stood for. With or without him, BH is still an amazing boy band.. Imma still miss him though.

We cant give a person chance or space to improve? For RCA argument Chris Brown got a contract for all I know... And if this decision was made through fans and media pressure, it is just sad and disappointing. Brockhampton and their fan base have 0% tolerance for such things Ameer had done but the man was reflecting on what he had done. For 3 years he was seeking help and trying to improve. Not just that but if everyone had to face consequences for their action like Ameer, the society today would be so much different. The very reason why America is Great Again.... Right? I am not saying he should be excused from such act but instead of pushing him away completely, a little help could have been much better. He understood where he was wrong and was eager to improve. About not telling the bandmates, some people would've done the same. What are the possibilities of people walking to their mates and confessing about their personal life that had left them disappointed? As for the victims, I am very sorry for what had happened. It would've been much safer and reliable to call legal authorities when things had gone bad. It is unfortunate on what had taken place and I understand your anger and frustration. Is this right tho? Well now he is out, what happened-- happened..... Now many people, like the majority of people wouldn't agree with me but it is okay. We all have our own opinions and reasons. I do not have a specific member I like in the group so I am not throwing my own biases. I hope their regrouping has better turnouts.

i feel like most of the comment section missed the real point of why ameer left the group as stated by them, they were lied to, there was shit that ameer did that he kept hidden from them, things that affected people close to them ( like setting Dom's friend to get robbed ) and possibly other shit this probably hurt their trust towards him, all the boys went through some major shit because of this situation, ameer probably left on his own terms because he knows he fucked up big time

All I think is, it's difficult to make rap music if you have no experience. As a victim as well as someone who acted in a terrible way before. Doesn't he have a right to express himself too ? If he discusses guilt, shame, and hurting people who never deserved it in his verses, is that so hurtful to listen to for his victims ? I know it hurts to see someone who hurt you succeed and get away with it, but as I listen to what he says in his verses, I think Ameer was hurting too, just thinking about all of the terrible things he did. His latest twitter posts were those of someone being eaten alive by guilt. Listenning to Brockhampton has always been a soothing and learning experience wether I was thinking about what I did wrong or the ways someone I cared about hurt me. And that, was because I could see both ends of the spectrum at the same time. Wasn't Notorious B.I.G a life wrecker ? However, him talking about the drug dealer experience made people understand the underlying reasons for it and the way things were going on in his mind... And people still listen to his music. I understand Ameer's case in different and the victims of his behavior are scarred forever, but he is too. And he has a right to have a voice, especially through the "safe space" Brockhampton was. I'm sad and afraid Brockhampton is going to transform into some snowflake complaining group.

I think your opinion in this video is smart. I was actually at the Boston Calling music festival and saw that performance and thought it was still great. Although it was sad to not see ameer there because I myself was a large fan of the “Ameer flow” I kinda get that it needed to happen. Originally i was one of the “people can change” supporters. But i think what you said was correct, any recovery or change he makes would be better outside of the group. That being said, do I think BR is going downhill from here? Not from what I saw at Boston calling. I thought, although emotional, their performance was just as high energy as ever and I think we are gonna see great things from them

I just care about the music, whatever happens in their private lives isnt our business. If all this is true they shouldve contacted the police. With that said obviously they know something we dont about Ameer and if they feel like this was the right step to take then so be it. Its sad but I just wish none of this happened and i really hope eventually Ameer works it out with the group.

Do people understand that people change. Just because he did those things doesn't mean he is the same person now. The victims must've made sure to go public to grab as many eyes on this as possible. Something like this could've easily been resolved behind private doors. What a shitty thing to do to an artist just breaking through. I mean you can just look at his lyrics to see he's fucked up about the "Lies that he's told, and shit he's said". This was a direct attack on Ameers career and character. I still love Brockhampton, but it pains me to see that he's paying for his mistakes with everything.

Abuse can be subjective tho and that's where it becomes a probably. Obviously if someone beats you constantly that's abuse and not up for debate but this "emotional abuse" is so subjective it's hard to understand. For all we know Ameer might have just been a bad boyfriend and some perceive that as an abuser.

@parvativillarba753
@parvativillarba753 6 лет назад
What's the negative history? All that I know is that it drives from Em's song. I can see why it's negative though, and been debating wether or not to use it. However, I figured I'd just use it to show the overwhelming amount I support Alfo Media's words and stance.
@AWMK101
@AWMK101 6 лет назад
Parvati Villarba Ok yeah bad history was a really poor way to phrase that, more like negative connotation because of the character like killing his wife for Em and stuff. It’s not like actually bad, I’ve just always found it odd. And yeah forsure I wasn’t calling you out, I’ve just been wondering and I stumbled across a chance to ask so I figured I would
@parvativillarba753
@parvativillarba753 6 лет назад
Nah, I get it. Personally, in all honesty, I don't think anyone should stan any person. Because that means no matter what bad thing they did, people would still be behind them. So your point is honestly 100% right. If people say "oh who cares" to you, then they're just too lazy to take action. Stanning has become a cultural thing though, but it's true that it's connotation is toxic af and so are the degrees that it implies. Also, it's good to call people out. How else are we supposed to change society? So I'll take your comment as calling me out, and it's completely right. I just wanted to support Alfo, but I'll try to find a better way to word it. Thanks

I 100% wish this wasn't happening. This was so overdone in my opinion. These things are apart of this mans past. Should we just block everyone out who isn't "perfect"? I am not trying to make abuse seem okay. It's wrong. But at what point does it become the victims fault for never seeking help or forgiveness to their abuser? I'm not saying that any abused victim is at fault for anything but you can't be a victim forever. In my opinion, these girls should have sought out help for their own scars rather than ruin a mans career based on some stupid past mistakes. Throughout all of Saturation you can see Ameer is getting help. He talks about it. He even admits in his lyrics that he has an effed up past. This is just all really unfortunate. Ameer was hands down one of the best in the group. Brockhampton won't be the same without him. Again, no part of me is justifying anything but people are so quick to judge. This man just needed some guidance.

i went to their very very first tour stop of the tour they’re on right now, (the one in clifton park) and being in first row and analyzing every group member, you could clearly see and feel the tension between all group members. i am deeply saddened by what ameer has done, and im glad he left brockhampton. i agree with the moral view on whether continuing to listen to an artist after they’ve been accused of terrible things, even if their art is astounding. i’ve stopped listening to a lot of artists, stopped watching certain films because of this. yes ameer will be missed and did have an impact on brockhampton, but in the long run it’s better he left.

Brockhampton is an anomaly. I can't think of any group who has made 3 great albums in the span of a few months. Especially looking at the fact that they were their first albums. I think there's plenty of time for them to grow and make a better quality product down the road.

This is sad, and this sucks. Brockhampton have lost what made them special to me after this. I can see how they had to do this, but it still sucks. I'm more on the side of art. Art can be appreciated both as a part of the artist and also apart from it. Right now, I can imagine how the members of Brockhampton are probably dealing with this, and it's probably a very sombre and saddening atmosphere. You, and the other fans who were demanding actions from the group as soon as some people on twitter starting making certain accusations was the wrong thing to do. With a complex situation like this, those who pick up their pitchforks before taking some time to think about what actually needs to be done are just going to hurt. And can you expect Brockhamton, as a group, to be totally morally consistent with each other? Is that not akin to ordering them to conform to each other or fail? This whole situation, from the fan reaction and the way it was handled, will create a black hole in the group that will, IMO, slowly consume all the expression and freedom that really made the group shine for me.

honestly i would think first and foremost that people in a friend group SHOULD be morally consistent and hold the same beliefs generally. being lied to and finding out your friend is an abuser is likely a huge blow personally, not even thinking about 'business decisions' or the art. if you did want to consider the art, then part of brockhampton's art is that they believe in their message and is authentic to this. i'm not personally keen on supporting abusers particularly when one message is being given to fans and then their actions are disingenuous. i do believe in change and improvement, and don't know personally what they decided outside of their message but it's surely not that easy to separate the art from the group, given it reflects their very personal experiences and opinions. part of that is likely why a lot of people are fans of ameer's message too, that it was raw and real.
