Imagine how broken Obito would've been if he grew up with both sharingans. In theory even with just the right eye it should be impossible to defeat him because if he somehow feels threatend or runs out of chakra he could just escape into his Kamui dimension and wait for his chakra to fully return while being unreachable.

Remember guys, Obito had his Mangekyo enhanced by Hashirama cells, which reduced the chakra consumption, cooldown, and bleeding/pain costs. Long story short, Kamui isn’t normally used like that.

One of my favorite little things is the slight foreshadowing that happens earlier in the show. When Kakashi teleports away Deidara’s arm, he actually sends it to the dimension, but we as the audience don’t know that. So when Tobi “found” it, he actually just ejected it in a bush he was looking into. Which is fucking cool.

Considering that Hashirama Cells are CONSTANTLY healing their user, the Eternal Mankekyou becomes pretty irrelevant since the second you get the cells they’ll constantly heal your eyes and keep you from going blind.

I always had a theory that after the events of the boulder, obito tried to kill himself with kamui, but instead discovered the kamui dimension, which might have motivated him to keep on going.

Kamui was broken, but wouldn’t have been nearly as overpowered under standard conditions. Hashirama’s DNA and Rikudo chakra pushed it over the edge. I’d imagine that without Hashirama’s cells, an MS user with Kamui would go blind very quickly between intangibility, teleportation, and long-range warping. And the Perfect Susano’o with Kamui wouldn’t have been possible at all without the sage chakra.

I know you probably won’t see this (seeing as its been 3 years) but after rewatching the war arc we do see kakashi use the left eye to transport himself “out” of the kamui dimension after one of his scuffles with obito. Based on that scene and the scene with Masada tells me that the left eye can be used for transportation between the dimensions. The scene with madara isn’t a one off like we thought.

I think because Madara was equivalent to the Sage of 6 Paths at the time, he was able to create a portal big enough to transport his whole body from a short range.

The main problem with using the left eye to teleport yourself is you need to aim your focal point at point blank range. Now Madara is probably so good at that since he had sage chakra and could perceive things without his actual sight, so he would know where to put the portal to get his entire body. People without sage mode could also do this, though you're more likely to rip a piece of your body off if you miss so it's just safer not to.

Dear Swagkage: What if Obito had retained both of his eyes?

You forgot that while Kakashi has never teleported himself IN to the Kamui dimension, he has teleported himself OUT of the Kamui dimension when he and Naruto were fighting Obito simultaneously, so the left eye is in fact capable of close range teleportation even though it's rarely used (he also teleported himself out just after Obito has the Ten Tails removed in an attempt to kill him). The MASSIVE plot hole surrounding Kamui for me is that Obito, the jutsu's creator, stated that he couldn't use Kamui while he was the Juubi Jinchuriki for as yet unknown reasons, yet Madara, who was the Juubi Jinchuriki at the time and had never possessed Obito's eye before, just ripped that shit out of Kakashi's head, slapped it into his own skull, and then immediately used the jutsu...... like how the fuck do you explain that lmao

Kikashi was able to teleport himself out of the Kamui dimension using the left eye. I think it just takes lots of practice to be able to do it with the left unlike the right eye. And Madara was able to do it well because he’s Madara.

I wish Kamui would have been restricted to Obito and Madara if Kakashi was just going to spam it over and over again in the war arc. It's like Kishi just forgot that Kakashi nearly died after using Kamui against Deidara and was so completely wiped out after using it against Sasuke that he couldn't even save Sakura from Sasuke nearly killing her. 🙄

The blood around obito's eye when he fought the blood mist ninjas was not due to mangekyo bleeding, it’s the blood of all the people he killed splashed through the hole on his zetsu mask.

I think the blindness is mainly attributed to the susanoo as it is probably the most taxing ms ability. Since both kakashi and ohito were only using one sharingan ability it didn't effect the eyes as much. Also it's unclear how much he even used kamui outside of the fights we've seen

Kakashi showed he could teleport himself into/out of the kamui dimension. When Kurama gave him Chakra and threw him at obito who then sucked him into the kamui dimension. Kakashi was able to teleport himself out of the dimension after getting a few good punches off on obito

I like to think that Obito’s version of his and Kakashi’s susanoo is the exact same in terms of abilities and colors, but instead of a slash on the left eye, the right side of the face would have cracks i also like to think that the reason its blue is due to obito’s close blood relation to madara

My theory on why kamui hasn’t affected Obito is what you said about the Hashirama cells helped him because if can reduce the time for Shisui’s MS for Danzo then I’m sure it could do the same for Obito, however for Kakashi I think he just kept getting used to using it after training with it and during the war he just kept on getting used to it to the point he was pushing through the pain of it because at one point he even fell over when trying to get naruto into kamui, I do think it is a little ridiculous how Kakashi started to spam it a little at the end but that’s just not caring about the plot which just happened at the whole end of Naruto but that’s just my two cents

I think he mangekyo gains power through separation and different people using it, which explains kamui. If the power isn't weakened when reuniting then it's a perfect match for what happens when kakashi gains both of them.

I don't care that i already know about these i just watch for Swakage's amazing commentary.

What if both eyes actually do the same thing... but Obito and Kakashi simply trained it different... Kakashi trained it as a long ranged attack while Obito use it for close range.. which would make sense considering Madara used Kakashi's eye the way Obito uses it

I think there were a few nitpicks I had in this video but nothing substantial for sure. You definitely covered Kamui well. However, one bit of extra information I may add is that the Databooks state that Kamui is a sealed space, so as you'd probably guess, there should be no way to escape Kamui dimension other than via Kamui itself. Meaning no summonings or anything of the sort should be able to bypass Kamui. Also, this is kind of up in the air since I'm sure it got retconned in the 4 Ninja War arc, but Kamui was able to let Obito teleport in the early parts of Shippuden. As seen when he teleported over to Sasuke after the Itachi vs Sasuke battle and also when he teleported into the Five Kage Summit.

Swag, you disappoint me. Kakashi can also teleport himself to Kamui dimension through his left eye, the same way he was able to teleport himself out of Kamui using the left eye. He only realized he could do so, because h saw Obito doing it. Before then, he didn’t know where the Kamui lead to, to him it just looked like a black hole

A cool thing Kishimoto could've done was to use the Uchiha Shield to reflect the left eye of Kamui onto Madara himself and hence travel to the Kamui dimension. Dunno if this would make the shield much more powerful than intended(by you know, _bloody reflecting genjutsu/ocular jutsu_ and suchwhat), but it'd at least be a solution to the plothole.
