Very nicely explained Mark, I actually studied and worked in statistics for quite some time. It's worth noting that the population sample for the study was only 152 fish as well, which when compared to the wild population of dusky flathead is quite small!
I didn’t pick up on that, hardly a robust sample size. I really just wanted to explain the graph, because every time there is a debate on keeping big duskies, someone shares this graph. I’m not really into telling people what they can or can’t do, with the fish they catch, but I do want them to be able to make those decisions based on the facts.
It’s a University of Queensland study. I was only explaining this specific graph because it is showing up over and over, in discussions about keeping big duskies for eating. People are using it to say that big duskies don’t produce large numbers of eggs, and therefore there is no value in releasing them. I was just clarifying what the graph actually means.

Stacer Rampage, 429. Owned plenty of boats, bigger and smaller, this is my favourite. Plenty of good open boats in that 4.2-4.3 meter range, it's the most popular size in Australia.
