This is a GREAT video guys! We started homesteading over 15 years ago and there truly are a lot of upfront costs and sometimes you don't save money. You may break even and there are even times where you'll lose money, BUT I can honestly say that the lifestyle itself is more than just a mindset to save money. (I say this as we completely tore out our raised beds for our garden and are about to sink money into a whole, new garden.) These animals, plants, trees, berry bushes, etc. all give us so much more than nutrient dense food. They give us peace, places on our farm for prayer and meditation on God's Word. They give children beautiful places to run and play, build forts and eat an apple while at it. Hay fields are not just places to grow hay for animals, but for teenage girls (and boys) to ride together and have girl chats. :) Creeks aren't just for drinking water for animals, but fun summer play. The entire farm is a place to heal from one's past or remember to slow down and take in nature. Even as a busy stay-at-home, homeschooling mother, just visiting the baby lambs on a hectic day or taking a break to walk out to the strawberry patch and snack is a balm to the soul. The woods especially have been such a place of peace and tranquility. Land ownership truly is a privilidge and building the home economy pays a tribute to that land. It is our Christian duty to steward it well. SO many blessings to you two! God us using you both in such a powerful and beautiful way! (Sorry this is so long.) God bless!!!

I loved the video! My husband and I live in the Toronto area, it is ridiculously expensive here but we can make it work on his income. I stay home with our toddler and we are expecting another baby in March. If we wanted to keep up with what everyone else was doing, we would have bought a house 5 years ago when we got married and would have been enslaved to that debt to this day. If we had done that, we probably would have waited to have kids since it's so expensive here. We always lived in basement apartments since we got married (it's the cheapest option) and scrimped and saved. Everyone here puts their kids in daycare but it's so expensive that I would work the entire month just to pay for someone else to take care of my child and we would have very little money leftover from my income. Because of the choices we made, we have a huge financial safety net, the ability to make a down payment on a house soon, our sanity and health, and one beautiful healthy child and another on the way. We couldn't be more grateful 😊

Great video thank you for this video. I'm trying so hard to save us money but we keep running into vehicle repairs we needed to do our front brakes now we need to do our back brakes we also need new tires because we live in Canada so we have the winter to deal with and now our water softener is also acting up so it's taking a lot of the chunk of our money that I'm trying to save up and then of course there's all the bills and those things too. And with our vehicle it's old and rusted so we're struggling with even getting these things fixed but we can't afford a used vehicle and we live out in the country so we need a vehicle and my husband needs a vehicle for work what do you guys do when these things are happening because I like to buy in bulk but we don't even have the money to do that so we have to buy a little bit at a time with groceries. And of course my husband is worrying he's not a Christian but he worries about money a lot and in his mind he's feeling like I should go get a job so that we can pay for these things. I do trust God and know that he'll provide but it's scary when all of these expenses are coming in and the money just isn't there and I don't want to go into credit card debt. What do you guys do when you're in that situation there's more expensive than money coming in even when you're doing everything that you can to save money? 😊💗

Take back your family by Jefferson Bethke talks about this as well ..our society went from agricultural society to industrial and even the Nuclear family is a experiment.. and has been the death of a lot of other societies.... Because it makes it like the family is just to become a individual and support individual goals and not the family as a team with multigenerational influences ( not necessarily blood) like working together on a family business from home or farm... Producing more and consuming less...

How exactly did yall start tracking your income and spending? Did yall literally just go pen and paper with everything or is there a program yall used? I would love more details and learn how to do the same. ❤
