For some of us that tunnel holds a lot of memories, a lot of laughs, a lot of drinks, smoke, friends no longer with us, a lot of paint, 30 years of Graf, piece over piece, tag over tag, crazy seeing you excavate it like something under the sphinx arse lol, that dead end you hit in the oasis direction used to turn right and slope up, if you were approaching the tunnel from the oasis you'd look down the slope to the entrance and on the wall in front of you as you turn in was a full colour piece above the handrail by Shan from London, his name and a face in a space helmet, that was early 1980s, it sort of christened it and from then it bacame a popular spot for the local writers, funny seeing dude struggle to get down there bless 'im, we were up and down that pole like batman once it got blocked off but we had less timber than your man there lol, it stayed pretty active until it got overgrown, nice to see the Stikz piece still there, big up all them that hit that place on the regular, Mad3, Mr.Quiz, Desker, Acme, Stikz, Kona, Oak, Naba1, Demo(rip) Mac2, Pieces, Aura, RTB, ACK, TCM, 2G, TWR, HSD etc etc cheers for the peek down there kirbz
Nice to see its still standing..Not been down there in fifty years....Should be preserved ....It had a foot of water all the way down an stunk of piss filled with old furniture ...They have done a great job hiding it in plain view...Done a great job cleaning it up> keep it up :)And you lads another great explore under the belt.......well done
Love it. Love your exploring! Fun fact - the rest of the tunnel wasn't filled in so behind that bricked up dead end is another subway that nobody has seen since the 80s. Take a sledgehammer down next time! Would love to see you guys try to get into the Ice House in Lawns. Pretty sure it's impossible though :-(
Used to be a thick cable at the end. With space to climb it, get up and out onto the rail lines. Wouldn't notice it at night. But at day you'll see it. By the time the old bill grew a pair big enough to jump the wall and go down the tunnel, you was long gone. And they definitely didn't have the balls to climb the cable up out of the tunnel. You wouldn't have noticed it but at day the light will come through at the end of the tunnel wall/ceiling. That's the escape route.
