In 1934 this beautiful home was built. With hand carved woodwork around the entire house, this home was beautiful at the time. Fast forward to 2009, a real estate mogul, investor husband went hiking with his wife, when the two apparently seperated during the hike. The search party found nothing for days until they gave up the search. One year later, in 2010, the husband decided to add a part to his home. Where police became suspicious and acquired a warrant with enough evidence to dig underneath. That's when they found her. He was sentenced to 20+ years in Prison and the house went abandoned. Someone did buy the home after however but backed out of renovation with no reason. If you enjoy today's walk through, leave a thumbs up and subscribe for more abandoned content. Thanks for watching and have a good day

This house style is called a " Mock -Tudor." It was one of the most popular building styles during the 1930s in both Britain and America. The green porcelain color in the downstairs powder room is called "Ming Green, " and it is probably original to the house, as it was a very popular color in the 1930s. Also, there is an explanation for the 1920's Jacobean Revival dresser converted into the sink in the master bedroom. It was a trend around the time the house was being renovated / the body was found. Home Depot and Lowes still sell ready -made sinks that look like this..

@solomonmiriam
@solomonmiriam Год назад
I just watched the video again, and it appears the whole house suffered a lot of poorly constructed and unattractive attempts to renovate and redecorate over the decades since it was first built. I believe that what you saw in the buttercream yellow tiled bathroom on the second floor, was in fact, not a tub, but a shower stall with an oddly shaped depression in the shower pan. I believe the design of the stall may be original to the house, as the tiles in the shower stall as well as the rest of the bathroom are of the appropriate thickness and size to date from the 1930s. If I am incorrect, then the main stylistic elements of the bathroom are no newer than the 1950s, as buttercream yellow was both a widely available, and popular decorating color from the 1910's all the way to the 1960's. Also, another way to help date the vintage of a bathroom or kitchen, is by looking at the grout lines/spacing between the tiles. If the tiles have practically no spacing between them, and grouting is not visible, the the tiles were likely installed pre-1945 in America. The toilet and sink are definitely modern replacements, and the wallpaper is likely from the 1990s, ( and very ugly).

My aunt moved into a murder house some years ago after bidding on it at a last chance auction. She said it was initially creepy, because despite the fact crime scene cleaners had been in, there was still staining to the floor boards along with the knowledge that the body had been disposed of by hiding it beneath the still-existing bathtub. Once she ripped the entire bathroom suite out and replaced the floor however, she felt a lot better. All that said and done, to this day, despite the murder being well over 20 years ago, she still gets people stopping their cars outside to take photos of the place or knocks at the door around halloween.

@@bonniebrown6960 so are you saying that you wouldn't buy a house in which a person was murdered? What about a house where someone passed away peacefully in his or her sleep? Is it the death itself that bothers you or the fact that the death was by murder that bothers you? Most states do require homeowners to declare any deaths that occur on a property within a certain period of time prior to the sale of the property, just to give people full disclosure.

Also, for those wondering about all the pencil sharpeners and the left behind vaporizer...having pencil sharpeners attached to the wall was a 1950s and 60's thing. In fact, in both my childhood home and the house of one of my distant relatives, we even had wall pencil sharpeners from the same manufacturer: "Boston self-feeding pencil sharpener." Growing up, I saw them frequently enough in older people's homes, that I never really questioned their existence. I was always under the impression they were there because people back then used pencils far more frequently than pens to write. I don't believe cheap, disposable pens became widely available (or at least widely used) before the late 1960's-early 1970s. Pens were considered more "formal" writing instruments, and children almost never used them for schoolwork. The vaporizer was manufactured in the late 1970's. When I was little, my family had the same model in a larger size. My Mother used to break these out everytime one of us were sick....
@tysonatkins2236
@tysonatkins2236 Год назад
The vaporizer is a humidifier. I remember having one in my bedroom when I was sick. One night, I forgot about it, and got up to go to the bathroom, and I kicked it over and burned the hell out of my foot! If it wasn't for my mom reminding me of it from time to time, I wouldn't have any memory of it. I don't think it was as bad as when my grandma was heating up a pan of water to defrost her freezer, and I walked into the kitchen and stood just behind her, and to the side, to see what she was doing. She didn't know that I was right behind her, and as she turned to put the pan in the fridge she saw me, and it startled her so much, that she dropped the pan, and I turned to run away just in time to get my entire backside soaked in scalding hot water! My grandma picked me up, took me into the bathroom, pulled off my clothes, set me in the tub, and turned the shower on cold and had me stand there for what felt like forever! I eventually got out and she gave me the longest hug I've ever gotten from anyone, because I'm sure that she felt horrible about it, even though it wasn't her fault. It could have been much worse, but I'm grateful that she knew exactly what to do.

I like the young man who narrates this video and shows us this old house. He has a real appreciation for things you can hardly find anymore, like the hand-carved wooden posts on the stairway and the all-wood cabinets, to name just a few. He also has a real sensitivity to things that have occurred so long ago in such an old place. That's what drew me to watch this video because I'm also the same way. I have liked and subscribed because of the positive reaction I've had. It really disturbs me that such a lovely old place with so much potential is going to be demolished. Much of the stone and wood it was constructed with cannot be acquired anymore! Someone with enough money, time, and love for the place could do it if given the chance. If I had the resources, I certainly would! I do understand that horrible events have happened there and the place could be haunted, but I'd have to try it out first before giving up on it.

I'm guessing whomever bought it decided it was just going to cost way too much to renovate such a large home. There was a home about 15 miles away from us where a son murdered his mother. She made it out of the house and died in the driveway. It was empty for quite a while, but was eventually purchased. I still think of the woman lying in her driveway every time I go by.

A lot of the time the cost to fix these old houses exceeds building a new one that people design themselves. Thank you for going into the house, and for posting this video for us to see it, too! What a beautiful property. The doors, the stunning staircase, and the outside rock walls and stone work!! Sad. I loved that dresser with the sink in it! Love the antique look of it. Had to be something to see, brand new. Wonder how hard it would be to find a picture of it in 1935? Thanks, again. Stay safe!

Wow what a story and to actually see where the body was buried, you hear about these things but never know they truly exist and you've actually been to the house, wow. It's a beautiful house, love all the carvings and that staircase is stunning. Enjoyed this one more than I should for some apparent reason, but then again I love hearing or watching films to do with serial killers. Thank you very much for sharing, stay safe. (UK)

I like that you weren't loud or silly in the video. This was a new video for me which I don't typically do since I accidentally click ones that end up being disrespectful/loud and I really appreciate that you were respectful. I believe in the energy in places and even though this house had a dark period, that doesn't mean that it wasn't happy before 2008 and that it can't be happy and positive again. It needs a loving family that will respect what happened and love the house!!! Only my belief. I totally agree with Miriam Soloman's comments about different decorating things in the house. Thanks

At about 7:53 there is a voice over yours that almost sounds like it said "look at that" or something like it when you were commenting about the wood carving. It almost definitely sounds like an EVP but than who knows. I really love the way that house looks as well. Fantastic find you have there. They should really fix it up to sell it.

@@Liz-cmc313 I was wandering down Elgin Street one day years ago and saw a 2 story Craftsman style home (used as leased business space) that I loved. I went inside and asked the receptionist about speaking to the owner. They gave my number to the owner, who called me later that day to talk about the beautiful architecture and style. She told me all about history of the home, which had been a brothel in the 1930s or 1940s. She told me when she bought the property there were metal bars on every window in the second floor and attic so that Johns couldnt skip out the window without paying for quality time with the "ladies" of the house. She had jumped through all the hoops to get the house marked as a historical marker so that the home cannot be torn down in order to put a trashy tow house in its place. The owner was so nice and told me I was welcome to wander through the building anytime to appreciate it's beauty as long as I did not disturb her tenants. I really appreciated the level of detail she employed in restoring the hardwood flooring and other details of the home. House are just not built to that quality anymore.

I'm not surprised for the 3 episodes I watched one said it was Rihanna's mansion and it was a former Carolina hurricane players house. One said toxic waste site 400 homes and it was actually bought by the city due to blight and was only 317 units in duplexes. I hate that these guys don't give a fuck about the actual truth. We'd still watch these explorations just tell the damn truth it's like 5 min doing your research. Also when they say this isn't staged and the other half of the room is piles of crap, like dude, just stop. I don't care if someone staged an area to be esthetically pleasing with the abandoned stuff that was left in the house.
