I really love what you urban explorers do. I personally would not enter these places for safety reasons, but your videos let us step in these eerie buildings and know more of a long lost beauty. I also like the respect you have for the buildings and its owners, not vandalizing or taking away anything, just appreciating the history and the beauty in decay. Keep up the good work! :)

+Electrics Actually there is a lot of work that needs to be done. The roof was never completed so there are a lot of leaks, several times the basement has completely flooded, needs new plumbing and radiators, not to mention the amount of vandalism. But if someone with a lot of money came in and put the money into it, it would make a lovely Bed and Breakfast or a Inn of some sort. Too bad really because the Mason's won't relinquish ownership of it. They are probably going to let it sit there and rot.

TheUnknownCameraman is without a doubt the most thoughtful and considerate U.E. I have ever seen. You and your crew let the footage speak for itself. I am intrigued, mystified but mostly saddened by the all the traces of beautiful architecture that you uncover that will soon be lost in this age of selfies and me syndromers.. ROCK ON!

This Castle is currently owned by the Masons. I have been there and know alot about it's history. They were going to turn it into a summer retreat but that never happened. This is the reason for some of the more modern looking updates on the house. Electrical meters in the basement, Etc. It's sad that no one has gotten the chance to live in the castle. The original owner died before it's completion.
@Darkk6969
@Darkk6969 9 лет назад
Thanks for the insight. I was wondering why there is modern electric meter installed in the basement. The structure and everything in it is in very good shape. I hope someday the owners will actually put it back into use. It would be a shame to let it go to waste.

The pulley box is called a dumb waiter. It carried groceries and serving dishes from one floor to another. The back stairs that came out in the kitchen were usually the servants stairs. That upper floor looked like it would have been the servants quarters. I love this place, it makes me sad that there is no one to love this place and make it a home again. Thanks for sharing!

Late reply, but the owner of this ended up dying before him and his wife ever lived in it, shortly after his wife ended up in a mental hospital.. apparently went insane. The freemasons of the Prince Hall Liaison grand lodge in NYC ended up buying it from her while she was institutionalized, along with a fuck load of land for an extremely cheap price. They don't give a fuck about the castle, they wanted the land. Land = power. This place has a care taker but its smashed the fuck up now. It's really a shame.

It seems like someone was, at the very least, cleaning up the place. It could just be that scrappers haven't had a chance to destroy it yet but many of the walls were so pristine as compared to a lot of the other buildings I've seen explored on this channel and others.

There is a very cool abandoned house/mansion in my area. Built in the early 1900's, the thing is awesome. Inside there is a hidden switch (behind a bookcase) that when pulled would open up a large rotating wall/door that leads to an underground vault (where alcohol was stored during prohibition). By far the best place I have ever explored.

The new meter suggests that some one has an eye on that property. Who ever actually owns the property is probably trying to sell it. In any case, if the owner is really serious about selling it, they should drain those flooded rooms, soon!

Whats interesting is that this old house has a lot of durable antique fixtures thats not available today. This large estate was built during America's age of decadence when mantions were over 25000 sq ft in size. But when that owner dies or falls into hard times so does the house.

@SecurityPro2704

The "snot-cicles" in the baasement that are dripping down from the cieling are caused by water seaping through the concrete and stone and picking up small amounts of minerals and calcium from the limestone rock that is so abundant in that area of NY. Those are the beginnings of stalactites and on the floor stalagmites as have been seen in some of your other videos. I grew up in this area of the Catskills and have a good idea where this place is. Another great exploration.

That building is in amazing condition for being empty and open so long. You can tell it was really well built. Someone should buy it and save it use it as a B&B , Wedding reception place or just live in it or rent it out. I would check and see if the property taxes have been paid on it if not start paying them (adverse possession) and take the place over, move in and fix it..
@marcdavis4509
@marcdavis4509 5 лет назад
goldsilverandiamonds The cost would be prohibitive. It’s probably filled with asbestos and lead paint. You’d be better off purchasing the property from whomever owns it. (Probably the state) ask for bids to demolish the property and do that.

Out of all the problems this building seems to have, it doesn't appear that water damage is a large one at all. That means it'll be worlds cheaper to clean up than it would be if the roof had huge holes in it. They should do something on that.
