A full exploration would be great. I'm interested to know if there are any old buildings, cars, etc. out there.

Never in a million years would I believe I would be sitting watching a feller mow tall grass.... but here I am... loving every minute of it!

I love this content as reminds me of my work at grampa Powell's Ranch for decades! Keep it up! Old cars, construction and land management are great man.

You remind me of a neighbor of mine when I was a kid. My Dad had some issues and wasn't around a lot. But this fella looked out for me and let me watch him work on stuff and help out. Hey neighbor. I won't scroll through all the comments so this could be redundant. I own XX acres in Williamson County (purchased for the now-young-adult 3 sons and daughter, 16 years ago). I'm a native but was raised in the hilly suburbs. Out where your ("new") property is, and where my acreage is, I'm told those cleared, serpentine strips around the hillsides, hollers and ridges are all "logging roads" from circa WWI and WWII. The hardwood varieties in middle TN served numerous purposes during the industrial boom that was the war effort. Hickory, beech, walnut, and of course tons of the state tree, Tulip Poplar, plus others - all suited to construction of everything from barracks throughout the SE, and all the way up to air-frames and carrier decks. That theory works for me. My "old roads" are now hiking/biking/jogging/horseback trails. If I was monetized, I'd have the fellers following me around on ATVs, I'm sure. But I'm even more certain that I'm blessed to own a slice of heaven and to have young'uns who appreciate the beauty and utility of owning a piece of dirt in the free state of Tennessee.

You should have the land professionally surveyed, it will help you figure out where the build able areas are.

We bought 75 acres in Upstate New York and it has miles of trails and small logging roads on it that we need to repair and clean up. Some of the old logging roads are likely 50+ years old and in some spots the gravel/crusher is still visible. The exploration and discovery is so much fun. You and the fam will have memories for years to come.

Derek incase you have not figured it out yet, we watch whatever you do because of you. Cleetus McFarland said on a podcast that he would love to put a show together like the original top gear with him you and I forget the other guy but he's dead nuts on with that one. You guys are a once in a generation type talent and I am here for all of it.

Just my opinion: You have a tractor, put a 4' - 5' brush hog on the thing and get the job done. That little mower you have on the side-by-side is for flat land that has been cleared of most obstacles. Also the tractor with front loader would be a great help clearing all that trash and those pallets and piling them for a bonfire

Derek if you want to clear and find every trail on that property. Just bring the boys over with 5 gals of gas and their dirt bikes. Like letting the cows lose in the woods, they will have it explored and cleared in no time! 😉

Buying land is and never will be useless. It is in my opinion literally the best investment you can make.

Definitely would be great to see the whole family working that land. Derek has got to be the father of the year for the past 15 years running! Everything he does for the family, is wholesome and for the future success of the boys. He's a great admirable man.

It's an Old Logging Road notice you don't have very many big gigantic trees back there scratches on your rig adds character keep up the good content

You'd do well to get a 4wd compact tractor with hydrostatic drive and independent rear PTO, then put a flail mower with hammer chisels on the rear 3pt hitch. Game changer!

Yeah the whole family should go out to this land and help tame the wilderness a little bit. If there are some old automobiles or buildings that you are not aware of on this land, it would be interesting to see them. This piece of land is a fixer upper and it would be fun to make it what you’d like it to be.

I think that is a nice chunk of land and a feller could clean that little road up pretty easily with some mechanized wood chopping devices make a better dirt bike area than the slop you rode last time, first thing I would do is make sure there’s no squatters or bad medicine cookers you know, keep your small humans safe 👍

100% logging trail. Judging from the age of the trees its not from all that long ago. Nature takes over fast. Definitely lets explore!

A lot of folks use those hydraulic sidearm brush cutter tractors here in North Carolina too Derek. They also use them to trim tree branches growing too close to the side of our two lane roads. Also if you can get a cheap Ventrac mower from an auction you’d be in business. If you can’t find one of those for cheap fill the tires on your little tractor with beet juice so it’s not tippy. That’s all the advice I’ve got from one fella saving a few bucks to another.

Reminds me of clearing trails and fields on my property. I hunt and explore all the time on it. If you do not keep up with the maintenance of it, Mother Nature will try to take it back in just a few years. Love this show for what it is. The background actual life of a person. The actual life a person lives is in and of itself a full time job.
