Goldmask's mask is a fixed placement near his spot in Altus, on a different section of the destroyed bridge. This has been a wild ride, thanks for sticking to it. The other games' disc versions won't be anywhere near as interesting as Elden Ring's but hopefully they'll still have enough to keep you going.

I really think Godfrey was better in 1.00. The laugh makes perfect sense lore wise, as his lifelong goal of a worthy opponent came true, and I think the hidden health bar makes Hoarah Loux a bigger reveal, which I love. In this version did he have double the health or was it just split between the two bars?

Thank you for your efforts, as someone who played by mistake elden ring 1.0 for some hours before realizing that somenthing was different from my friends version all these changes really interested me, and you are the only one who decided to make a series about them 😁

One thing I noticed is that the briars sorceries now have a sigil when casting them when in release it just summons thorns around the staff.

When it comes to Miquella's needle, it's not that it doesn't work on live. It's that it *only* removes the frenzy-flame eyes from your character, while the fingerprints remain. Looking on your footage, it's a bit difficult to tell, but it seems the eyes don't get removed in the 1.00 version, while they most certainly do on release.

I think Hoarah Loux laughing like that is perfect. He probably hasn’t had a real fight in ages; but when the Tarnished comes along he dies satisfied. Like Wamuu in Jojo if I were to make an example.

I feel like they removed Godfrey's laugh just to shift the stigma of soulsborne characters having maniacal laughters at the end of their regular lines. :D

Honestly I kind of wish they kept the Godfrey fight as is. He's my favourite fight the whole game to the point I wish he was harder. Plus that cut dialogue is nice.

ive always preferred the double health bars. I feel like if they change dramatically when phase 2 starts they deserve a second health bar. If its just a small change then just 1. Like Mohg gets his wings so thats fine for one health bar. But with Godfrey he completely changes to Hoarah. but now that im saying this I dont know if id want to do a full healthbar Maliketh lol...

Imagine my shock looking at guides for Godfrey on RU-vid and realizing the bastard was only supposed to have half health for phase 2. It took awhile but I definitely beat him. Elden beast was hell on earth in 1.0 you’re literally playing tag with him the whole time.

Elden Stars was nerfed some time after launch so it checks out. Can't believe he could spam it in 1.0 tho. Who thought that was a good idea. P.S : considering Loux warrior persona he laughing right before dying seems fitting for his true self. Edit : Miquella needle doesn't remove marks. But you can remove them in the character creator mirror. If infected by frenzy god even if you make a different body it will still have marks.

6:25 Pretty sure this was a massive problem when the game first released as well. The elden beast fight we have now is much more scripted, so this version was what people originally saw for a while, leading to its infamous reputation (now the boss is actually quite nice imo)

Thanks for this comprehensive view of what Elden Ring is like for people who can't go online for the patches! This shows how even now, there are major consequences when a game isn't finished on the disc alone. However, in this case, From Software's great work makes this an enjoyable time capsule into a different direction for the game. The lore has minor differences, and the structure and balance for items and exploration notably differ. Regarding the endings, The Age of Order ending actually has different lighting at the Elden Throne in 1.00, with a more subdued light. It might also be that the light doesn't actually make it all the way down to the player and the floor. Additionally, the alternative Godskinners song in the credits starts looping over itself and adding more layers, resulting in a dissonant tune due to the additional tracks not being synced with each other. It's interesting how Gideon isn't nearly as prone to giving away free hits. Between that and his additional healing flask, he feels like a much more capable and interesting boss fight. In fact, I've heard that quite a few NPCs have more than one flask in 1.00. If this is true, then I find that neat, as it lets them showcase how resourceful they are regarding Golden Seeds in their own right, and it further adds to a sense of some foes being more skilled than others. It'd be neat if a few opponents, like Vyke, got at least one additional healing flask back in the future, along with Gideon, Juno Hoslow, etc. For Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, in addition to a full health bar for each phase, Regal Roar and Earthshaker will only be used when 25% health is left for the respective phase, rather than the 50% mark in the final game. The Elden Beast's swimming animations knocking the player away is actually a good decision IMO, as it gives a reason to not just stick to the boss like glue, and it lets the sword swings have a better chance of hitting the player. The Elden Beast also still has something like this in the final game, as it can send people flying on contact while it's ascending to do its enclosing energy ring attacks. The Elden Beast seems like it has had quite a few changes throughout Elden Ring and the patches, including for its behavior in regard to how often it uses incantations, what incantations it selects, what range it likes to fight at, etc. Some of these changes even appear to be lingering glitches, like how it will often swim away and do a sword swing that no player could possibly have sprinted in range of, or how it'll swim away only to swim right back before trying something like the enclosing energy rings. The Elden Beast's occasional out-of-range sword swings are also reminiscent of what appears to be a similar glitch with the Astels. Like the Elden Beast, the Astels will often do a melee hand wave nebula trail attack even when their only opponents are the opposite side of the Astels' respective arenas. Thanks again, BertoPlease!

Thanks for doing this series! As for the question, I prefer every boss phase to have full health bar. Forces you to learn the game better and makes conquering challenges more satisfying.

In 1.00 the game asks for “Amber Starlight Shards” to Respec. It DOES NOT require any Larval Tears to Respec and it DOES NOT consume the 1 and only “Star Light Shard” you can Respec Infinitely in 1.00

Part of me still misses the original HUD. It's charming and I like how basic it looks compared to the game's detailed graphics. Also makes it easier to see how much stamina/magic you're losing.

I see two aspects of the cut laugh on Godfrey here. On the one hand I could see him laughing at the end because the man loves a good fight and has mad respect for warriors and other strong opponents he might face. On the other hand, the particular laugh take they used does sound a bit too "villain-y" for Godfrey for lack of better words, so I can kinda see why it might have been removed.

I’m jealous you beat that version of the Elden Beast, it absolutely wrecked me every single time even with a mimic tear and Hoarfrost Stomp. I thought about redoing it with a Faith build, but I’m not sure if ancient dragons lighting strike is as strong in the the 1.0 version as it is right now

Good video as always, i would want to say something: with elden beast, i remember that, in 1.04 or 1.05, they made elden beast soo is less prone to run away, soo, how he behaves in 1.00 is similar to how he behaved in, for example, 1.02, or he was even more prone to run away constantly than in the first few month of release ?

Great series, small question, if I do a playthrough on 1.00 and then update the game to the current patch then will my playthrough transfer?

About Godfrey - in current version he is immune to debuff from Black Knife skill (in 1st phase saps away his HP, but does not restrict his max HP like in case of other bosses - Fire Giant is the other case). Is this present in 1.00 version?

Godfrey was harder not the same sorta had to take all his health off to to start2nd phase and he gets all his hp back

Honestly, I feel like the old Giddeon fight is a bit cooler and challenging, and I think it makes more sense for him to be talking while fighting. And obviously I'd prefer his dialogue get cut off, considering he's dead.

I'm planning on playing through version 1.0 but I have a question if I finish the game and then update it (for when the dlc comes out) can I go back and collect items that are missing in this version

Huh, on my first play through I assumed I wouldn’t be able to get up to that bridge area with the warp to Malenia’s Tower in the Ashen Capital so I killed her before Malekith to activate her Great Rune. It’s kind of interesting that my false assumption is how it worked in 1.00.

as much as I love elden ring, the hp/mp/stamina bars are so... meh. I wish they'd kept the simpler, more vibrant design.

They definitely made Elden Beast easier with later patches. This fool kept me fuming for a good minute when I beat the game Release week. All he ever did was run away and spam long range attacks with no chance to punish. Now, he barely runs away and I can destroy him no issue. 🤣

A lot of things from 1.00 were way better, especially the item prompts were way smaller, less intimidating and the health bars and such were a bit more fitting for me personally
