Elmer was a great person. I met him back in 2003 while working on a photographic project about Route 66. At the time, he was retired and living full-time at Bottle Ranch. He invited me into his home, and we talked over a cup of tea, his favorite drink. He also showed me how he was self-sustained with water and recycling. He was a truly great guy. I will always remember him. Thank you for sharing this gem and its story.

This place reminds me of Hula Ville, with its derelict refrigerator containing a wooden leg, which used to be along side Route 66 now a frontage road next to Interstate 15 just outside of Victorville. Sadly Hula Ville was demolished around 1997 after its creator Miles Mahan a carnie and accidental folk artist died.

Hello Folks! I've been waiting for the next video. Great Job of keeping this man's dream alive! Really nicely done. I hope your Kitty cats enjoyed the trip. I have a friend of four legs but she is scared of riding. She was in a Animal Shelter for a long time when she was a Kitten. Some folks adopted her and after a few days brought her back because one of them turned out to be allergic to her fur. I think that when you put her in the car, she thinks that she is going to be put back in that tiny prison. Oh well, I have took her out to the car and just sat in the yard for a little while but she doesn't settle down. She has anxiety the entire time. Well, she is fine at home but I would like to be able to take her on road trips so she wasn't home alone with just a visitor feeding her. Anyway... Nice video! I look forward to your next one. There is a couple of things out your way that could possibly be cool videos. I was driving a large commercial truck from LA to Las Vegas one time and saw what looked like a horror movie. On the West side of Vegas, there is a long, steady, steep uphill grade for about 20 miles(I think). It has a number of lanes Eastbound for the big trucks that are slow. The truck I was driving could pull about 38 mph, so I was in the right lane. It was close to dark and it was, like I said, kinda like a horror movie! The desert was all dark and up ahead over the horizon looked like the world was on fire. It was all the lights of Vegas shining up in contrast to the long dark hill. That was cool but not the horror part. As it got dark, I started seeing snakes on the road, a LOT of Snakes! There were a couple of big trucks, along the way, pulled over on the shoulder. They must have broken down, pulling the load of that grade. I started thinking about breaking down and all those Snakes. I mean there were a Bunch of them. I made it to the crest, saw the lights of Vegas and started picking up speed. I got to the hotel that I was going to stay at and found the Oversize parking lot in back of it. I got checked in and was talking to people and asking about the snakes. Evidently, after the sun goes down and it starts getting cool in the desert, the snakes crawl onto the warm asphalt of the highway for the first couple of hours. From what I got from some locals, this is a regular nightly thing and after it has been dark for a couple of hours they leave the highway and go about their regular 'snake lives'! I doubt that a lot of people, who aren't from around there, know about this. I swear it was like watching a horror movie! Ya'll Take Care and be safe, John
