G'day G'day,
Our last weekend off in Innamincka before we caretake for the month of October while the managers are on leave. We managed to get permission and have our very own tour guide of Nappa Merrie Station and few points of interests that we'd heard about during our time out there. Once again a big thanks to the station and to Abby our guide.
The next day I went on a solo mission to locate the original Innamincka homestead. I learned about this initially from station managers. However I was gifted a research report to read that shed some light on it's history and where abouts. I was lucky enough to locate it and explore the area a bit.
Enjoy.

Very cool outing you took us on this week Tim . So cool when you fly the drone and we get to see were building once stood ,so hard to see that anything would be there if you didn't have that look down from above. Thanks for taking us along Ching Ching

I believe those round circles are Aboriginal mines. They dug out stones to grind their food and they used to trade them with other Aboriginals in other areas in exchange for ochre etc..

I believe you are correct mate. It was explained to me afterwards that they are quarry sites exactly as your saying and yes they traded their stones as they were very durable and of quality.

Great video mate. I've been out that way but had to miss that area on my trip, as we headed south along the Strezlecki track. Thanks so much for showing us those interesting historical little places, I had no idea all that was there in the same area as the Dig Tree. Makes me want to do another trip out that way and check those places out. How difficult was it to get permission from the station owners... and did they allow camping there...? Hows them bloody flies... you would of ate a few by the looks...😝Cheers

Thanks mate. Yeah the flies were horrendous. Not too sure how difficult it would be to get permission. We were able to get to know the station folks after being part of the community for a few months. So we literally started talking about it over a few drinks at the pub that's where we met a few of the ringers and they put us in contact with the owners/managers. I guess in regards to camping too it would be also at their discretion.

Cheers... thanks for the info. Looks like a great area to check out. I like how you go into some detail looking at things. I enjoy that... most people fly past trying to get to a main destination and miss all those little bits along the way. Cheers...👍

@@Croozzen they do. We have learnt to slow down considerably. We don't really have a time limit though.
