I love the fact that Joel had a book called space for dummies on his bedside locker he was learning about space for he could talk to Ellie about it

When she smelled that coat, I wasn’t weirded out. Every child knows the smell of their parents, or their clothing. That was a beautiful detail.

A perfect representation of how the Joel in this game is not the same Joel we knew from the first game. He got to be a father again, he has hobbies. He was a pillar of an actual community. He even stopped wearing the watch. This game is beautiful in so many ways.

My favourite thing about exploring Joel’s house is how he has both a picture of him with Sarah and a picture of him with Ellie RIGHT next to each other. He didn’t just view Ellie as a daughter figure, he viewed her as his blood.

I love the detail of him still practicing carpentry, having a Space for Dummies book by his bed, having a movie collection, having both a picture of Ellie and Sarah next to each other. It all makes Joel feel like such a real person.

I like how as soon as you enter the house there's a sense of warmth all throughout, not just the lighting but the rooms, you see that even though Joel's death was traumatic and painful; his life in Jackson was peaceful, bed hasn't been made, trying to build another guitar in his carpentry room, TV area was all set up for guests to come over, and all the flowers out the front of his house tell you he was loved deeply by everyone in Jackson

On my fifth play-through, letting every moment in. I just realized that the blue fabric in the box is bloody. I’d focused on the watch and gun. Then it hit me: that is the t-shirt he was wearing when Sarah was shot. That’s her blood. He kept it all these years.
