FINALLY!!!! I have been trying to remember the title of this film for years. HBO used to show this one in fairly regular rotation. That scene of the townspeople revealing their true appearance as they removed their human costumes while marching towards the mothership has stuck with me for many years. Thank you again to GBF for finally resolving this lingering mystery from my misspent youth!

No wonder this movie sank into obscurity. No weather related disasters, no guerilla filming because of money running out, no onerous demands from the studios and everyone on set enjoyed their time there and no drama. Its a wonder the movie got made at all! As for critics, they get so full of themselves and their own opinions that they decide that their job is to trash a movie as soon as they can instead of judging it on its merits. This movie never planned on being an Oscar contender and that is how it should have been critiqued.

Ask Rumiko Takahashi. When she made Inyuasha that was literally just a bunch of characters from Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura with different names and hairstyles in the feudal setting as her short stories like Fire Tripper. When you're familiar with her entire body of work, you can never unsee that InuYasha is just her ripping off all her old material and there's not a single new, original idea in it.

Screw Pauline Kael. This is a really excellent and fun movie. I've seen _Strange Behavior_ too, and it's a total mystery to me how Kael could praise one so highly and completely trash the other.
@martincann5052
@martincann5052 3 года назад
Every time I hear Kael's name, it's always regarding how she hated this film or that, usually quite famous and well regarded ones. She's a key reason why I feel that US film critics are even more pretentious than those from other nations, they always seem to be trying too hard to demonstrate their intellectual chops. Roger Ebert is another good example.

@@UnwrittenSpade Also known as "Extra Terrestrial Terrors", it's a Spanish/French co-production about an alien that kills people on earth as it looks for its child. Originally it was intended as a straight-up horror film, but then E.T. was released and the producers shoehorned in a subplot about the alien child befriending some random kid, creating severe mood whiplash. I caught a glimpse of it on a shitty old black-and-white TV set in my aunt's room when I was maybe 5, and that scene with the aliens ripping their faces off and chasing the protagonists through the mist (?) was forever seared into my mind. All I remembered was that it was about a secret alien invasion, but there's like what, three Invasion of the Body Snatchers movies alone, so I gave up trying to find it. Some great movies in the 80’s. Have you done The Keep (1983), Alligator (1980), or The Island (1980)

Could you do an exploring video for The Majestic from Frank Darabont. It’s one of my favorite movies and has a very ‘50s film feel. One of the most criminally underrated movies. Also, Jim Carrey’s (in my opinion) best performance

Most mainstream audiences don't get films like this, no matter when they're released. It's an interesting thing, watching how people seem to take the popular view of a thing as their opinion, until years later, when a lot of people see things without the opinions of another colouring their view.

Nice. Now try "Top of the Food Chain" (1999) starring Campbell Scott...
