Rising majestically 73 stories above the banks of the Detroit River, the GM Renaissance Center, commonly referred to as GM Ren Cen or simply the Renaissance Center, is a towering beacon in the heart of downtown Detroit's vibrant skyline. This architectural marvel serves as a central hub for the city's social, culinary, and business activities, symbolizing Detroit's dynamic urban core.
Spanning an impressive 5.5 million square feet, the GMRENCEN comprises seven interconnected skyscrapers. It houses an extensive range of amenities including dozens of retail outlets and services, a comprehensive financial center, and the offices of two foreign consulates. Additionally, the complex features a state-of-the-art fitness center.
The Renaissance Center is also home to a Marriott hotel with 1,300 rooms, catering to both business travelers and tourists. For dining and social gatherings, the center boasts some of Detroit’s most popular restaurants, offering an array of culinary delights. Furthermore, it houses an expansive 1,100-seat café, providing a bustling meeting place for casual dining and informal meetings.
As an iconic structure, the GMRENCEN not only enhances Detroit's skyline but also enriches its cultural and economic landscape, making it a landmark of urban revitalization and a proud emblem of the city.

That was great... thank you... I can't wait to see what Gilbert will do with that awesome facility... the possibilities are endless... I'm hoping for a massive resort/condo complex that will be swarming with people 365 days of the year!!!

I worked in this building from 2007 - 2013. It's a shame to see it so dead now. (Not like it was teeming with life even back then...) I hope someone can liven it back up. Somehow. That building has the potential to be a city within a city. It already has its own zip code!

the hudson towers good for the city but the ren cen is infinitely more iconic and has much greater craftsmanship

I was a young boy when it was constructed, thought the outside looked cool , modern back then, but the inside was so much wasted space, one big maze. I hope Gilbert is able to redo the floor plan in a big way.

Unfortunately, it may be cheaper to demolish and rebuild a new single tower than to make it more navigable.

implausible and also architecturally bad idea, demolishing the rencen would be one of if not the largest destruction of a building in american history aside from the collapse of the world trade center. also its a nightmare for the cities character and would be a sad day for architecture, the lobby is beautiful and at this point with something this iconic it shouldn't be demolished simply because of money, it should be historically preserved
