My dad took me on a trip around lake Superior in 1962 from our home in the lower peninsula. We stopped and camped at rabbit blanket lake and I remember catching a nice large trout from shore that we had for dinner. I was six at the time, It was a wonderful memory.

Seeing the coast more reminds me of spots that might also be in that documentary promoting canoeing from the 60's or 70's I'm thinking. Maybe was made later, though with the happy sounding high pitched man that's hard to forget and of course I forget. Beautiful areas and a neat history.

Absolutely a most beautiful and enjoyable ride from the Sou to Wa Wa. Every turn on 17 gives up an incredible vista of the wonderful Superior. The waterfalls are everywhere. And I agree, this is the very best of views of the any of the Great Lakes. Your videos are great and the history is spot on. Sixty plus years ago my family made this same drive and then continued all the rest of way around Superior. I remember seeing the huge log rafts being pushed by a tug on their way to Marathon and the paper mills. There were men walking on the logs while they were being pushed by the tug. One slip and the guy was probably gone into the icy cold water. I made the same drive later as a teenager and then with my young family. Within the short span of just a few years, it all changed as the country’s needs changed.

Probably forty years ago or more, I climbed down to view the pictographs depicting the monster and the canoes. I marveled at the fact that those images were still visible on the face of a rock on Lake Superior after such a long time. Whatever the painter used has held up to all that Superior weather could throw and still exist. Not even Sears Best Paint could do that.

I bought the map (about 10 years ago) at the Lake Superior Provincial Park visitor's center. It is the Park map produced by the park service. I'm not aware of any guidebooks for the area, but many locations are in the Park or close to Hwy 17/Wawa.

Thanks again for another great video, hope to see some longer ones in the future! Edit: Though I suppose most of this video was shot in Canada, it’s close enough to call it Michigan in my opinion
