So spells used to require half of a meter? That explains why there's a visual effect (eyes appearing) on the meter when you reach 50% even though that's not a significant threshold in the final game
i always thought the eyes appeared at two thirds when you can heal twice. so youd have bright soul for first heal, eyes for second heal, and full meter for three heals
@Exo the Vessel shade skip is dying to purposely create a shade, and then essentially using it as a stepping stone by nail pogoing off of it to reach new places. Using a shade skip, you can get to salubra’s shop before getting the mothwing cloak.
I think the demo we saw was nowhere near reflective of the game areas. If you go back and look the areas are just one big hallway, and looks like it’s meant to be a showcase. Other than this which was just the first area. So I’d say the layout of the Moss Grotto and the Forge are gonna be way different
Actually, it make A LOT of sense that VK was suppose to be at crosswords. I was wondering why there a crosswors-looking zone in the middle of greenpath. Thats why. They decided to move this enemy for some reason, and had to make it fit in its new zone. I wonder why they moved it. Was it too hard to early zone? Or maybe something with the infected crossword made it not work
When I first played I actually thought I had accidentally backtracked into crossroads by accident when I made it to that part as I was fairly lost at the time.
Really interesting to see how much the game changed for the better from the beta to the release. I think it's safe to say that if the game had released in this state, it wouldn't have gotten as popular as it did, because a lot of what makes HK so fun is its movement and combat, which don't seem as polished in this version as they are in the release build.
The atmosphere looks dark as hell that it actually fits the dead world of Hallownest. The crystals in Myla's room looks damn cool to me. Just my preference, really.
Sounds like unity‘s doppler effect is on with those sound effects ^^ the sound effects in the game i recently made at least sounded like that with doppler being higher than 0 and 3D audio enabled 🤔

i think the title screen music at the end is slightly different? it sounds like a version that might have been made before they got actual viola recordings for the soundtrack
Surprised by the amount of stuff they already had and then even more by the amount of stuff and changes they did before and after release. Amazing dedication to the game.
I just started playing this thanks to PSPlus, but I love it. I have 30 hours on my save already in a week, it’s incredible. Seeing it in the beta is weird, there’s not enough secrets.
Yeah as a switch player I was hearing him describe the nail experience and thinking "well that's just what normally happens" but is it not like that on PC??
my guess is in this version it was more transparent and had that clear surface line as originally there was going to be a swimming mechanic that you could actually dive down and explore water ways, and once the idea was scrapped they made it more opaque and green to show danger and that it was differnt than water
10:00 actually really interesting - I think the stag cutscene has a different ending. in here it wipes to black with a wooden beam but in the final version it just fades to black. I always thought the fade was a bit too fast and a little jarring; that's probably why.
Just thought I'd mention that this beta demo was given to Humble Bundle Monthly subscribers in February of 2017 (at least it looks like it, its possible this version is a slightly early version)
Unfortunately, there aren't. The beta just contains King's Pass, Dirtmouth and Forgotten Crossroads. There are some really early drawing of the buildings in CoT and some random art assets of Greenpath/Queen's Garden, but you can't go to any of these areas.
If fog canyon area stayed like that, you could've not done a speedrun the normal way because team cherry where deciding to make you able to go deep in the acid, I saw that on a cut content clip
The even slightly holding down resulting in a down animation when using the analog stick made it through to the full game. I can tell you because the D-Pad is in an awful position on the joycon layout.
Skurry, friend, if you ever want to do the low % run again, instead of spending 45 hours in green path, do it in the sewers, I'm not sure if it counts as % but the room right before the flukeworm boss there's a bunch of little worms that you could farm for essence, I spent like 10 minutes farming and got soul on every other time I entered the room
