In this week's Cache Walk we are exploring the ruins of Kells Priory and going geocaching. It's a wonderful place to explore. Come with us for a look around. Kells Priory Traditional Geocache GC62HQ0
Fabulous location. Virtually every off road location here has throrns and nettles by the million. You get used to them after finding lots of lovely containers. Many thanks for posting as always. Not sure that a cache in a wall is allowed though?
It seems like there are a lot of missing materials. I wonder where they went? Stinging plants. That's a terrible place to set a cache. I love a good hint that makes it easier to find a cache. Thanks for sharing.
A lot of the materials were sold off at the dissolution of the monasteries in the 1500s and reused in other buildings. Those stinging nettles are all over the UK. They die down over winter and the geocaches can be found more easily. Glad you found it interesting.
I have a cache that has a thistle next to it. It wasn't there when I placed the cache. I can't control what weeds will grow where when I place a cache in the countryside. It's small and doesn't bother most people looking for the cache.
I don't think I would have coped well with a community toilet either 🙂Had fun flying it in Ireland when there was an opportunity. The rain cancelled a few fights unfortunately.
There was just enough left to get an idea of how large and beautiful it must have been. Will be good if they ever put up information boards with illustrations.
I believe there is one for each province of Ireland. There are four provinces Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. There is also a souvenir for Dublin.
