We are looking for great places to travel and geocache. When we find them we share them with you. Great places and their caches. Most will be around our home in New Zealand but many will be from other places around the World. Join us on our adventures.
All those gems. Stolen from other weaker countries. Fair enough I suppose. To the victor goes the spoils. But it’s nothing to be proud of. Don’t delude yourselves. England was a vicious, greedy power in its day.
I don't usually date my logs anymore unless it's a Ftf usually put the wrong date anyways do you call potatoes chips, chips as well thoughtbyiu might call them crisps
We have begun to just sign logs too. We call them chips when they are the ones we have with dinner or with fish and chips. Sometimes the thinner version are called fries or skinny chips. The thin ones we have as a snack we also call chips or more commonly potato chips. The people in the UK call these crisps. It's all a bit confusing 🙂
It was interesting hearing you mention your motorbike adventure in America! Did you both have a bike or was someone a passenger? what a shock it was at the end of the video to hear the walk had to end early :( simply not fair but hopefully you can make it back to finish the job! From what I’ve seen of your journey this time around it looks like a lovely route and you’ve inspired me to give it a try one day :)
Thanks, we hired a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra from Eagleriders in Los Angeles. Lynne was in the pillion seat. My back is improving and we are definately going to gove the second half a go. i am sure you would enjoy the hike. The first three days are special.
So sorry to read about your back issues and having to leave the Costwold Way. Hope you are feeling better soon and can return to complete your journey next year. I have really enjoyed following you on your travels and look forward to hearing from you again
There are slugs like the black one in BC, but yellow ones as well that are equally icky. Ok Rick. I suffer from back spasms as well. I hope you are better now. I'm sure you're still walking and exercising. Have really enjoyed your series !
Thanks, yes the back is getting better with physio. Will be back to walk the second half. Those yellow slugs sound interesting 🙂 would love to see one.
It took us a little while to calm down as it felt even closer than it looks on the video. We are much more careful now. These days the road has to be completely clear before we cross 🙂
Love sharing your walk across the Cotswolds!! It's so incredibly beautiful!! ❤ Throwing a bit of action into the mix with poor Lyn nearly being cleaned up by that car!! 😮 Thanks so much for taking us along with you!! Hope your back improved a bit Rick! 🙂🙂🙂
Thanks, glad you are njoying it and liked the action sequence. Luckily I had the camera rolling and captured it 🙂yes my back is better now but not before it got much worse.
Oh dear, yes, no chance to rest it while you were on that organised walk with hotel stops pre-arranged. What a shame - must have made those last few days quite difficult. Glad to hear you're much improved now though. 🙂 Thanks again & looking forward to the next video!! 😃
Any advice for getting along while doing this walk? My husband and I have talked about doing something like this, but we are afraid that we’d irritate each other.
That's a hard question to answer but I will give it a go. We agreed on a walk we were both interested in completing,. We have generally the same level of fitness and both love the outdoors so that all helped. Filming it also kept us focused on a common goal. We just didn't have time to irritate each other too much 🙂Have you walked together on smaller day walks? That should give you some idea of how a longer walk would go. Good luck and hope you give it a go.
Long time viewer but first time commenter, loving this series. You’ve inspired me to do this route one day! Cant believe you are 70 Rick! You should be proud of your fitness level :D
Would love to have one land on our driveway. One person here had one come through their roof into their living room. No one was hurt but it must have been amazing! Yes we were surprised by the old churches. If it hadn't been for the church micros we probably would have missed them.
Good idea to take a day off walking to rest up. So it happened to rain. Walking in the rain would have been uncomfortable. How long did you plan this trip? Did you plan every geocache or just a basic list? How often did you use off-line lists? Thanks for bring us along and also providing us with suggestions when we finally go over to the UK.
Yes a little uncomfortable near the end of the day as the rain became much heavier,. We planned the trip about 9 months before going. We planned every geocache and try to contacted the owners for permission to film. We only select a few along the route as it takes time to find them and we are a little slow at walking 🙂 We used off-line lists all the time as we can not be sure where we will have reception.
Starting off with a nice breakfast, eh! 😋 lovely I love black pudding also! Very cool about the space rock. King henry and all his wifes always shock me, lol i have enough just with 1 😆 😂
ha ha yes Henry sure had his problems. Would love a meteorite to land on our driveway would be so interesting. It didn't do as much damage as I thought it would.
No group, we are walking on our own. A company called Macs Adventure prebooked our accomodation in each village. They also arranged to take our bags from village to village so we only have to carry a day pack. They also provided an off lline map and information booklet. Also a 24hr help line if we need assistance.
Thank you for taking me along with you through the Cotswolds! 🙂 Much easier for me sitting on my comfy recliner here in South Australia! 😄 Are you taking a couple of days break in between the walks? I'm 74 & only walk about 5kms a day - I don't know how you do it!! Thanks again!! 🙂🙂🙂
I'm very much enjoying your walk along the Cotswold Way. I think your videos really capture the essence of the area and I appreciate all the historic details that you give. I walked it myself over forty years ago, but being young, I didn't pay too much attention to the history that was all around me. I look forward to the next instalment and hope the weather improves for you.
@@GeoRick To be honest, I remember very little of the walk itself but I suspect very little has changed in the intervening years. I believe the area is heavily regulated when it comes to building plans.
What fun! Planning a trip for next year. Are you currently on trail or was this a bit earlier this Spring? Happy walking and looking forward to the next installment!
We had a major problem along the way as you will see in an upcoming episode. We are returning to the Cotswalds in 6 weeks time to complete the walk. We are sure you will have a great time next year. Best of luck with your walk.
